A M/M BDSM Romance

Grant had found his perfect man…wrapped in silk and lace.

Grant had always loved more feminine men. A sexy guy in lingerie just did it for him. But when you looked more like a bouncer than an insurance agent, the pretty guys ran for the hills. Carter seemed different, though. When he looked at Grant, he saw the real man underneath the tattoos and muscles. Could Grant make him understand that he liked Carter just the way he was, or would Carter’s doubts keep them apart?

Carter had found his perfect man…sweet, sexy, and built like a tank.

Grant didn’t seem to mind Carter’s more feminine look, but was he too good to be true? One bad date after another had left Carter gun-shy. Now he had Mr. Right standing at his doorway. Did he have the courage to be himself and let Grant in, or would his fears keep them apart?

Story Contains: M/m sexual content, BDSM elements, gender-fluid dressing, spanking, and orgasm denial.

The Bound & Controlled series follows four brothers, who are each involved in the BDSM lifestyle in some way, as they look for love. Each book will feature a different brother, but the books are best read in order. The books are not taboo in nature.

ughhhhhh. My mistake was in thinking that because I like the premise and one of the characters that somehow that will make the book decent.

I love Carter. He's sassy. He's gender non-conforming. He's had a string of shitty dates with guys who don't want to be seen in public with a guy wearing ladies clothes. He also likes to wear lacy lingerie.

All of these things sound great.

But then there's this annoying family filled with wtf. There are 4 brothers whose names I keep confusing. Why are they confusing? Well, I'm glad you asked.

They're all gay.
They're all into bdsm.
They all work at the family insurance company.
None of them do anything else. This is the sum total of all of their personalities.

So here's poor Carter, desperate to find someone who isn't all 'masc only, no femmes', and unfortunately he gets stuck with one of these dodos. He's not in 'the scene', and before they even do anything unvanilla, the author insists on tagging the other MC with 'The dom' said this or He looked at 'his dom' and referring to Carter as 'the sub' 'his sub' 'sexy sub' 'sweet sub'. Ugh. It's kind of making me hungry, actually. I haven't eaten at Subway in a while.

I'm so sorry, Carter, that you got mixed up in this. You deserve someone with a personality and hobbies and interests outside of family/bdsm (not even separating those, because all the brothers go to the club together and are fully versed about what all the others are 'into'. Yay family fun time). :(

The first book was so promising!! Why is the rest so incredibly meh?? :(

I really liked both Carter (Wyatt’s skirt wearing best friend who met in the first book) and Grant, but for some reason this couldn’t really hold my interest. It was better than the second book, but not as entertaining as the first.

It was just very very meh.

I had such high hopes for this book because I was really looking forward to Carter, our non gender conforming sidekick from Book 1, landing a man who supported him enough to allow him to be him - in all aspects of his life - with confidence.

And don't get me wrong... I liked this story, but it was a little underwhelming, that's all.

I was also confused by the sudden - and far less than subtle - inclusion of information about a baker Dom who likes puppy play and a rambunctious, possibly not even gay, art class model that was shoehorned into this novel by a group of gossipy old biddies. We never even meet these men, so it leads me to believe that the author is laying the groundwork for a spin-off series, but it was just so awkwardly executed and entirely unnecessary.

That said, I am VERY excited to see how Bryce is going to handle his new throuple status in the next book.

This is the third book in a four book series following four brothers who find their bdsm Happily ever after. But the BDSM aspect is very Light in these books, there are no hardcore scenes. In this book, brother Grant is a bigger, strong willed, Gruff looking guy who could easily be a bouncer at a club. But he likes smaller, prettier guys. Carter is perfect for him, he’s cute, sweet, and loves dresses and pretty lingerie. I was really loooking forward to this book because of Carter, we saw him in previous books as Wyatt’s best friend. And I really like how Shaw always seems to find ways to incorporate side characters into other books as well.
Audio - Kenneth has done a good job narrating all of this series of books so far. I really enjoy his narrations and what he brings to these stories.

I enjoyed Grant and Carter better than the couple from book 2. And Wyatt is adorable and like a bouncy puppy now that he has found his Dom and the ability to be comfortable as who he really is. Wyatt kinda stole the scenes he was in, for me, at least.

Carter and Grant were sexy and fun together. I think for for people who want to test the waters with some kink, this is a great series to do it with. Nothing too extreme, nothing TOOOOOO kinky, but fun and sexy!

I received an audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I didn’t love this book, but I loved the idea so I gave it 3 stars. These books certainly don’t live up to their name. They seem pretty bland. I liked Carter and Grant. I’m not attracted to men wearing women’s clothing. If anything it’s a turn off for me sexually. However if it works for someone like it did for Grant and Carter then I admire them for going after what they want. For a man to go to a restaurant in a women’s skirt takes guts.

This is the third in the Bound & Controlled series, and while it could definitely be read as a standalone, I think it would be more enjoyable read in order.

In this book, we see Grant (who is a bit of a bulldozer when it comes to getting what he wants) trying to woo Carter, who isn't convinced that anyone could truly love and accept his gender-fluid self. It was really fun seeing how enthusiastic Grant was about Carter's skirts and lacy things, and how he encouraged him to be true to himself. They were SUCH a perfect fit for each other, and their sexy times were HOT HOT HOT!!! I also liked that they had a more lighthearted approach to BDSM than some of the other characters. It suited them.

The family (and their constant bantering and attempts to steal food) were hilarious as always, and there were some other side characters that showed up that were a HOOT. I don't want to give it away, but they had me giggling like a crazy person.

I am really, REALLY looking forward to Bryce's book! I'm also hoping that some of the side characters will get their own stories, because they caught my attention, and I want to know more!

I had been looking forward to reading Grant & Carter's story for a while now & it was definitely worth the wait. Grant wants to date Carter & Carter's history with dating hasn't been great. He really wants to believe Grant is genuine and that he really wants Carter for who he really is. I really enjoyed watching these two find their place with each other. Carter learning to trust Grant & Grant seeing what an amazing man Carter really is. They are perfect for each other. I loved Mrs Jenkins & her friends and seeing the other couples evolving their relationships was great. This one is my favourite so far. I really look forward to Bryce's book.

Shaw Montgomery has given us just about everything you can hope for in a BDSM novel. Four sexy kinky brothers, two dominants, one submissive and one switch.

Grant's story involves a sexy antique dealer who loves sexy lingerie. Grant isn't your typical Dominant. He has that Bad Boy biker image going on. So he isn't taken seriously and Carter can relate with that. They are perfect for one another.

I'm going to give up on this series. It would probably be a great gateway series for people who are not really into BDSM, but curious. But for someone like me it just doesn't work at all. I'm hard pressed to call this BDSM at all.

The author's use of godawful pet names made this almost impossible to finish. I truly wish authors would realize that pet names are NOT a requirement.

This series seems to be losing steam. I really enjoyed book 1, but this book felt phoned in. I didn't care about their relationship. I had high hopes for Carter's book, but this book did not live up to those expectations.

As the other books in this series, this was short and sweet and pure smutty fluff 🥰
I also really appreciated the rep for very femme presenting guys! Everyone should be able to feel fab thanks to makeup and sexy lingerie 😚

Like the first two books in this series, this was too short. I loved Carter's character with his preference for female clothes and lingerie. I would have loved to see his sub tendency develop further, since that aspect was new to him. It left me wanting more. I'll definitely be reading more of Shaw's books, but I'll make sure they're full size novels!

A great book - an audio review

Carter is a unique soul. He doesn’t quite fit into the traditional world. He’s gay – which is okay because his friends and neighbours are supportive – but he has a secret he keeps from the world. Carter’s best friend, Wyatt, has recently fallen in love with Garrett, and he wants everyone else to be as happy as he is. So, when Garrett’s brother, Grant, goes from texting to asking Carter out, Carter isn’t sure where this might lead. Grant knows Carter’s secret, but does that mean he’s okay with Carter’s true nature?

I adore Carter. I see and understand his struggle to be true to himself while surviving in the real world—the one beyond the protective bubble of Wyatt’s shop where Carter works plus their neighbours’ environs. They are nosy neighbours, to be sure, but neighbours in their later years who accept Carter for who he is and who also want him to be happy. Even their gossiping is gentle and harmless. These secondary characters brought humour and sweetness to the story.

My adoration carried through to Grant. He’s built, gorgeous, and smart. He also sees the real Carter and accepts him. It takes Carter a long time to believe in Grant’s affection, but Grant’s insistence on Carter wearing the clothes he loves goes a long way.

There is a BDSM component to the book, fitting it in nicely with the series. Is it realistic to have four brothers, all gay, and all into BDSM? Probably not, but it does make for fun times and a wildly supportive environment.

Grant and Carter are perfect for each other. As this is a Shaw Montgomery romance, they get their happy ending. And I’m glad I’ve got ‘Bryce’ cued up in my library.

Kenneth Obi is the perfect narrator for this book. He can carry Carter’s slightly effeminate tone with its light southern drawl, Grant’s deep and sexy voice, as well as the various older ladies in the story, with aplomb. He has done a great job with this series.

I am now pressing ‘play’ on ‘Bryce’.

This is Book 3 in the Bound & Controlled series by Shaw Montgomery, which centers around four brothers who all fall onto the BDSM lifestyle spectrum and their romantic and erotic relationships with their prospective love interests. Each book in the series follows a different brother and has recurring characters. While they are self-contained stories for the most part, reading the books in order is recommended.

In each book Montgomery explores a different aspect of sexuality and how it plays into the relationships of her carefully constructed characters. Most BDSM-focused books center around a formulaic Sub/Dom relationship and explore mostly the leather or more more “masculine” tropes. However, in this installment, Grant pursues Carter, who is gender nonconforming, particularly in his style of dress.

While Grant is—for the most part—the leading man in this story, as he is one of the brothers in the family this series focuses on, the star of their tale is Carter. Read with a soft but sassy Southern accent by narrator Kenneth Obi, who has voiced all the books in this series, Carter is by far the most well thought out and enjoyable character in this installment.

Having all but given up on the idea of having a romantic relationship due to past rejection from his gender-fluid style, Carter is, at first, reluctant to open himself up to the idea that a sexy, butch muscular man would be interested in him. Add to the mix not having past experience with BDSM, and it takes a bit of pushing to get Carter to relax and open up fully to Grant—a naughty knight in shining armor. But once the two connect, it’s fireworks, sex toys, and lacy panties!

This book is a welcome reminder about not closing oneself off to love from unexpected places, and finding the beauty in all gender expressions.

Someone lent me the third book in this series and, because I'm a sucker, I thought I'd see if the series had improved. It hasn't! Although I think I have worked out the key to Shaw's books. If you want to read about the characters in that book you need to read every other book in the series as their book will spend most of its time on other characters. So, for example, Grant and Carter appear quite a bit in the other two books but, in their book, Shaw spends a lot of time on Wyatt and Garret, Brent and the lush (Cadfael?), and setting up Benjy who.... ya got it, is gonna be book 5 after Bruce.. err, Brad? Oh Bryce.

Shaw also joins a growing list of insipid authors who are tickled pink by the idea of a non prudish octogenarian, so liberally use the little old lady with a filthy mind trope. Is Mrs Jenkins going to get her own book, I wonder.

Also, why are these boys so obsessed with their mother. Everything is reported back to their mother, there's threats of reporting back to mother, instructions on what to report back to mother and, ewwww, even flirting involving discussing mother. *shudder* Is mother dead? A skeleton in the attic? Do these four brothers take turns dressing as her?

So, I'm done as it's evident Shaw is a tease. The characters spend more time talking about what they want to do than ever actually doing anything.

Grant had always loved a more feminine man in sexy lingerie but as he looked more like a bouncer than the insurance agent that he really was all the pretty guys ran. Carter seemed different as he saw the real man underneath the tattoos and muscles. Could Grant get Carter to understand that he liked him just the way that he was? Carter thought he had found the perfect man as Grant didn't mind his more feminine look. But Carter had had one bad date after another and he was very gun-shy. Does he have the courage to let |Grant in or will his fears keep them apart?

I enjoyed this story with the nervous Carter and the confident Grant who was determined to be gentle with his man while also reinforcing just how pretty he was. I loved the old ladies in Carter's store and the way that the family did their best to make sure that Carter knew that he was accepted and part of the family too. The way that the story ended was priceless and I can't wait to read what happens in the final book in the series now that the Domme is back. Easy to read, feel and understand I was rooting for their relationship to work out so that Carter had the happiness he deserved. This story contains mature MM content of a BDSM-like D/s relationship featuring gender-fluid dressing, spanking and orgasm denial.

A beautiful story for Carter and Grant. I've always liked books like these. Carter just wanted to be himself and liking and wanting to wear sexy lingerie and dresses he sometimes hid. Includes beautiful sexy scenes with his Dom. One thing I kept getting mixed up with the brothers and who their partners are, I felt like grabbing tape for Wyatt's mouth and everyone is in everyone's business (got annoying). The ending has a surprise...
Carter worked at his antique store called Hidden Treasures and was expecting a date with Grant would be horrifying. They'd been texting the last 2 weeks and then a dinner invite came up. He didn't have the confidence the date would go well, men didn't like him wearing dresses.
Grant and his family and brothers worked at their insurance company. Grant was attracted to Carter as soon as they'd met at a Bbq.

This was slightly tamer than the other two, but equally as hot! Carter likes wearing feminine clothing, but has scared away one too many dates, so he's a little gun-shy. Luckily, Grant is attracted to feminine guys, clothing and all. This book was more about Grant reassuring Carter that he really does like when he's wearing dresses and lacy lingerie, and introducing him to the lifestyle. Carters always known he was submissive, but never found the right guy to explore his desires with.

My only real complaint with the series is that it's named for a BDSM club, but the characters never go. Grant makes a big deal about picking out a sexy outfit for Carter to wear to B & C, and other characters keep talking about wanting to go, but we've yet to experience it.

Though Dresses & Lace are not my thing in an
MM D/s read, this one snuck in because of the brothers' series, and was not all in your face.
The small mentions of it were actually very sweet and sexy because of Grants' desires and fantasies.

The Dynamic & the back & forth Banter between Grant and Carter had me giddy and smiling so much!
Carters' cheekyness was completely wicked, causing Grant to be a hot as all heck, tease!

This Insta-Love Read was enthralling.
Loved every second of it.

Omg, and Mrs. Jenkins and her band of dirty lady's was hilarious and so entertaining!!!! Love them!
Loved it all!

Sweet, and hot, and perfect

Carter had been one of my favorite characters in this series, and it was so fun seeing Grant set his sights on him. I can't imagine how devastated Carter had to be when his family rejected him, and the level of trust it took for him to let Grant in after all of his bad dating experiences was amazing.

I can't wait to see more of Bryce's story, as well as what happens with the brothers' mom home. I'm also very curious about the potential puppy that the ladies have found and hope that we'll get to see that story too.

Grant and Carter are a wonderful couple who prove that opposites attract. Carter embraces his feminine side but worries that his proclivities won't be accepted by a lover. Grant is built like a bouncer, big and tough, but he is completely entranced by Carter and everything about him. They are perfect together.
This story is sexy and sweet and funny; and it's another great book in this truly enjoyable series. I have loved each book, and I look forward to reading Bryce's story next. Shaw Montgomery keeps giving me wonderful book boyfriends, and I always know I'm going to love them.

I listened to the audiobook and it was amazing!
This series just gets better and better. I love the story of Grant and Carter, they are perfect together. They have a strong attraction and their chemistry is sizzling. It's wonderful to see Carter slowly accept and understand that Grant truly loves the real him and wouldn't change a thing about him. It's a wonderful slow build for these two wonderful characters who truly deserve their HEA. Can't wait for the next one to come out in audio.
The narrator was spectacular with all of the different character voices and bringing the story to life.

Favourite Couple

I was so eager to read about Carter and Grant when I first saw them mentioned in Garrett’s book.

I wish we did find out what Carter had mumbled at the picnic in Garrett’s book.

I loved the idea of Carter being more fem and Grant loving him for who he is. It was such a cute story and hard to put down!

Also, I had actually read Ben / Xavier and Peyton’s story under the pen name MA Innes in “The Gift of Strength” first, so I loved how this book mentioned them. I also feel like Grant’s book gave the gossiping older ladies more depth than the other book

Grant is the third book in the Bound & Controlled series by Shaw Montgomery. Grant and Carter have found the perfect man in each other and their chemistry is off the charts hot. I love that Carter dresses as they do and that Grant embraces that sexy collection of lace. This book was highly enjoyable.

The good doesn't outweigh the bad.
The good: Carter dressing however he likes, Grant asking for consent (multiple times), the tea drinking ladies
The bad: fetishizing fem clothing (which is never addressed), the bad a/b/o writing (in a non a/b/o story), boring dialog, failing the bechdel test, bdsm overtaking/overstepping what should have been a vanilla relationship (specifically referring to the last few chapters).

Grant

Grant and Carter

Lol, I find it funny that Grant's character is more on the "big scary biker dude." Carter is sweet. I wish more people were comfortable with themselves to wear things that make them feel good no matter the stigma of things being gendered. I loved the pairing of these two. Also, the little old ladies are a hoot. I wonder if their goal of setting up their guy friend works out...
