Erich Honecker was a communist politician and the last state leader of the German Democratic Republic from 1971-1989.

After the fall of East Germany, he fled to the Soviet Union but was extradited to West Germany, were he was accused and sentenced for high treason, cause he ordered border guards to shot at illegal border crossers.

He was released from prison for health reasons and died in exile in Chili a few years later.

Well, Pergamon is/was a funny publishing house...in any event, a fascinating albeit rose-tinted view of the former DDR "written" by it's one-time leader. A curio, shall we say...
