"Do we need another leadership book?" The answer is emphatically YES.
What's different about this leadership book from others? First, this book is written for managers and leaders at all levels to try to help people empower their teams, and it's packed with simple, real-world solutions and insights. It explores some of the psychology and brain science behind the way we make decisions and why we lead the way we do — without getting too into lofty theory removed from practice. Chatman writes intelligently but never over the reader's head.
I especially appreciated the metaphorical framework of the "relationship bank" and the breakdown of common "deposits" and "withdrawals." It's simple and clear and puts actionable change within a leader's grasp, especially combined with the personality profiles and how the bank framework plays out with each personality type.
Best of all, it's a reasonably quick book to read, and the lens it can give leaders on how to manage individuals on their teams for the good of the whole team will be immediately valuable.
