Daddy's Home by Deb Kastner is an oddly compelling read. A second chance romance the story revolves around Christopher Jordan and Dr. Jasmine Enderlin. Christopher and Jasmine were boyfriend and girlfriend all through high school; going to college Christopher tells Jasmine he will wait for her to finish her education before they get engaged and marry. Jasmine goes off and Christopher marries her sister who is having a baby. On top of that her sister dies and Christopher runs away leaving his child in the care of Jasmine's family. Jasmine is now back at the family home, a doctor, and Christopher comes back wanting back into her and the child's life. Christopher wants to explain what happened, believing that Jasmine will understand his reasoning; but Jasmine is fighting him and his connection to the child. The story ends with an explanation of what actually happened and why Christopher married her sister and he gets his HEA with Jasmine.
Daddy for Keeps by Pamela Tracy runs along the same lines with the interaction of Lucas Welch and Natalie Crosby. Natalie is raising her sister's son as her own but runs into financial problems after the death of her father and goes to Lucas for financial help knowing that his brother has died but she has nowhere else to turn to. The story revolves around Lucas' family not knowing anything about their son/brother's child and Natalie trying to keep the little boy from being taken away from her. The interesting aspect of this story is that Lucas is the one who has a strong faith in God and has fallen for Natalie but questions her association with his brother. The HEA is very satisfying.
