The fifth title in an all-new Dragonlance series for young readers.
Dragon Sword continues a new series of Dragonlance adventures written specifically for readers ages 10 and up. Sized to fit the young reader market, the series features a new group of young companions who band together for friendship and excitement during the golden age of the Dragonlance world.

This is part of a Dragonlance series and should be read in order. Asvoria has risen and taken over Nearra's body. Asvoria is in search of a magical sword that would make her unstoppable. Our group of companions attempt to get this sword first and also dispel Asvoria so Nearra can return.
Up to this point, this is definitely the best novel of the series. This book is what one expects from a fantasy read. We get the quest to recover an object and inevitable battle between good and evil. Along the way we see sacrifice, lost loves reunited, and tragedy. This is a strong book for Elidor who is a half breed thief but on the road of redemption. The final battle was fantastic and I loved every second of it. And when I thought it was all done, there was a twist that leaves it open for the next book.
This series is aimed for young readers and it is readable. There wasn't anything remarkable about it. That changed with this book. The little cliffhanger at the end definitely enticed me to jump into the next entry in this series.
The chase is on. With Asvoria having taken over Nearra's body, Nearra was not a main character in this novel. I do miss Nearra and hope that her friends can get rid of Asvoria, yet have Nearra somehow keep the wicked sorceress' powers.
This book took a different turn than the previous four books in that we actually get to learn more about the past of one of the main characters with a side story that ties in very well with the main story. Elinor has always been angst-ridden about being two different kinds of elf. It was nice to read about some of his past and get to understand him more.
Ree Sousbee does a good job in continuing the storyline of the DragonLance: The New Adventures series. I did like her take on the characters. Dragon Sword is another great book in the series and I look forward to seeing what happen with Asvoria in the sixth book, Dragon Day by Stan Brown
This book is a really great book about mystical, magical areas in the land of Solomnia were everything is not what it seems. Enemy's become allies and friends become enemy's. Davyn and friends travel into Asvoria's lair to find the way to save Nearra. This fifth installment might just be the best in this 8 part series.
