I have read and loved many of Amy Clipston's books. My favorite series by her is the Kauffman Amish Bakery series. I've personally read it more than once. Amish Sweethearts contains within it 4 novella length stories. I really loved reading all of them and even though novella length the characters we were able to learn about their personality and the stories were fully developed with a satisfying plot. Beautiful stories full of light, laughter, hard times but yet forgiveness and understanding. Throw in a little romance and you have a book you'll want to revisit more than once.

I received a copy of this novella collection from Netgalley and Zondervan Fiction, and at first was very confused! Not by the book itself, which is written in a very straightforward manner, but by the fact that I had requested this book and then promptly forgotten I had. Romance is not a genre I typically read. The last (and also first) romance I read was when I was 17, a bodice-ripper my friend recommended. I didn't like it. We'll leave it at that.

Luckily, Amish Sweethearts is not a bodice-ripper! There are four novellas with themes of new love, Amish adults in their 2os and early 30s dating, falling in love, and getting engaged. I don't know a lot about the Amish, but have always wanted to learn more, and this book gave me a glimpse into their day-to-day lives. I did like this book - its gentle subject matter was a nice break from the psychological thrillers I've been reading lately. I would definitely like to read more about the Amish (even Amish romances) in the future.

Thanks to Zondervan Fiction and Netgalley for an ARC.

I’ve been very excited to read this Amy Clipston-only novella collection! Since two of these novellas have been in previous novella collections that I reviewed in 2016, I copied my original content review of them to this review as well with some addition thoughts. :)
Love and Buggy Rides (previously published in An Amish Harvest):
When I read this novella in August of 2016, I said it was a sweet and fluffy read like cotton candy! I still feel like that’s a pretty good description over how sweet it is! It moves a bit fast, but not too rushed like some other author’s novellas.
A Home for Lindsay:
The novella in this collection I was most anticipating! After finally finishing the Kauffman Amish Bakery series last month, it was just in time to read this one! While reading this novella, I did find it very dramatic and wanted to bop Matthew on the head a few times (just being honest!), but I did still enjoy it, albeit not as much as I was expecting.
Where the Heart Is:
Oooh, I think I really liked this one the best! I liked seeing Ariana & Jesse again, but this time seeing her brother doing well was very nice. Mari was a sweet heart encouraging him, which I really liked. Their story was sweet as well.
Love Birds (previously published in An Amish Market):
Reviewed in early 2016, I found this novella to be so cute! I really like it being connected to the Amish Heirlooms series. I still love this couple and their story! :)

Amish Sweethearts

Amish sweethearts is made up of four wonderful stories by Amy clipston.
Love and Buggy Rides

Loved this short Novella on love and healing. Janie meets Jonathan after a bad accident happens while Jonathan is driving a buggy of tourist. Who is the fault of the accident ? What will this do to Jonathan ? Jamie and Jonathan gets to be friends, but there is one thing that is bothering Jamie . Jonathan is trying to get over a broken heart and does not need another one.
A Home For Lindsay
By: Amy Clipston
Lindsay is waiting till her and Matthews can be married. Matthews calls off the wedding and Lindsay is heart broken . This story brought tears to my eyes and I felt so sorry for Lindsay.love the story and the characters, both were so real.
Where The Heart is
By: Amy Clipston
Love this story and the characters were well developed and lifelike. Tobias Returns home from an extended stay in Florida. Will his family and the community welcome him back? What about his dad? This story brought tears to my eyes.
Love Birds
By: Amy Clipston
Amy Clipston continues the story of Ellie Lapp, her mother, and Lloyd who was Seth’s friend. Ellie and her mother are struggling after the death of Seth. This is a sweet love story about trust, betrayal , and forgiveness. Ellie has loved Lloyd since she was a very young girl. Lloyd thinks Ellie has betrayed him. Can he ever trust or be friends with her again? I love the story and the characters, both were easy to follow. I felt sorry for Ellie and Lloyd. At times I felt tears gathering in my eyes and caught myself saying NO NO. I highly recommend Love Birds, I am sure you will love it as I did. Amy Clipston did not disappoint me.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book by NetGalley , but was not told that I had to give a positive review.

Amish Sweethearts is a nice collection of sweet Amish stories. Be advised that two of the stories, Love and Buggy Rides and Love Birds, were previously published in other novella collections. The other two stories are new.

I enjoyed all of these stories. Sometimes it was hard to watch as certain events played out that were related to Amish customs and rules, however, these events did add tension to the situations. My two favorite stories of the four were Where the Heart Is and Love Birds.

I would recommend these novellas to those who are Amish fiction fans and are looking for stories that can be read easily and fairly quickly.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Rather than review the book as a whole, I will review the individual stories below:

Love and Buggy Rides (previously published in An Amish Harvest)

This one was amazing! It really kept me interested, wanting to know more about the community! I loved Jonathan and Jamie! I really enjoyed watching their romance blossom, and how Jamie took a chance and did what was right. This was a wonderfully cute and sweet story, and exactly what I needed! 5 stars

A Home for Lindsay

This story was the whole reason I picked up this book! I thought it was great to catch up with the Kauffman family, and loved the fact that it was a continuation of Lindsay's story from A Season of Love. I thought that Matthew was a complete idiot for not sharing his problems/burden with anyone! I get not sharing them with Lindsay, that's part of the Amish way, but there were others willing to help, and he kept refusing it! That dragged it down for me a bit. However, we did get an update on Lindsay's sister, Jessica, so that was another loose thread finally tied off! 3.5 stars

Where the Heart Is

I really enjoyed this story! It had flawed characters, that made them more believable for me. It was a really sweet romance, and I found myself rooting for the couple often. I liked how it touched on some hard subjects like alcoholism in the Amish Community and seeking forgiveness. I only wished it was a longer story! 4 stars

Love Birds (previously published in An Amish Market)

I had a hard time enjoying this one. It felt like the shortest of the four, thankfully, but it was very stilted. There was no real courtship happening, even by Amish definition! They just seemed to fall into being a couple! The views about the crafting felt odd and forced to me, and there was too much made about the "betrayal". Good enough to pass the time, but not the author's best story. 3 stars

My Review:

Amy Clipston is one of my favorites! Each one of these short stories holds a story all its own yet they are connected in unique ways. I love the way the portray the Amish life. The simplicity and the laid back ease of everyday life. Yet they love God and they honor Him in their daily life. It is always touching to read Amy's stories and even though sometimes the things that happen in her stories seem sad they usually end on an upbeat note.

These four novellas have love and romance running throughout. Whether it is a wedding, a funeral, or just a new romance. Each story lends its on to a celebration of love and light that has a common thread of God in each one. The author gently weaves their dependency of God and the importance of Him and all He means to them. The stories are light and full of love. Very great read!

The book contains four novellas focusing on young love and the struggles of being a new couple. In "A Home for Lindsay", a couple is already engaged by when their financial security is threatened, they must decide should they stay together or are better off finding other partners. In "Love and Buggy Rides", Janie and Jonathan work in the same store, but never really knew each other until an accident brings them closer. Janie witness the entire accident, but her father forbids her to get in between. Will Janie be able to live with herself when she sees someone she loves suffer because her father forbade her to talk about it? In "Love Birds", a young girl is still mourning her brother's death. As she slowly begins to heal and try to move on, she finds herself in love with her brother's friend. Will he feel the same about her? The last novella, "Where the Heart is", is about a young Amish man who lost his way. As he tries to reunite with his community and his father, he finds himself attracted to his little sister's best friend. However, when he returns secrets that were long buried have resurfaced.

The novel was a quick and fun read. Each of the four novellas can be read in one sitting and were very satisfying. However, I was a bit annoyed that two of the four stories were published in other books. I felt like this wasn't an anthology, each of the novellas should have been new stories. The stories are delightful to read if you don't own the other stories.

Love and Buggy Rides (previously published in An Amish Harvest)

Jamie Lantz is a cashier at Lancaster Souvenirs and Buggy Rides, where Jonathan Stoltfuz is a buggy driver. When an accident occurs that leave that leaves Jonathan shaken up, questions begin to stir as to who started the accident. What does this do to Jonathan? And will he blame himself? All the meanwhile, Jamie and Jonathan's friendship is blooming, but will the obstacles of Jonathan's heart stand in the way?

A Home for Lindsay
From Amy Clipston's beloved Kauffman Amish Bakery series comes the story of Lindsay Bedford. Lindsey has been waiting till her and Matthew can be married. She has been looking forward to being his wife, until he calls of the wedding. This is a story that was unexpected for me and my heart felt for Lindsay. Amy did a fantastic job of allowing the reader to experience the emotions of this story between the two characters. I was surprised by my own emotions that this story brought to life.

Where the Heart Is
Tobias Smucker os back home and it's not secret he and his father are still not on the best of terms. However, Mariella, his little sister's best friend not only may have her heart set on Tobias. This story is another great story that brought tears to my eyes as I thought of family and that each of us has a story to tell within our families that doesn't always meet the eye. Sometimes, we need others to come around us to help us discover that.

Love Birds (previously published in An Amish Market)
While Ellie Lapp and her mother are mourning the loss of her brother, Seth, Ellie starts working at one of the gift shops in town. Lloyd, a friend of Seth's is a skilled wood carver and is very talents when it comes to carving birds. However, Lloyd father disapproves. Ellie see's beyond the disapproval and agrees for Lloyd to sell them in the shop. However, beytral sets in and Lloyd does not think he can trust Ellie or will he see that it wasn't betrayl, but a mistake? Is all hope gone for a potential future between the two of them?

Amish Sweethearts is a great book with four sweet stories that you will enjoy. Some of the characters are familiar from other series that Amy has written. I enjoy how Amy brings the reader into the emotion of each scene and you experience the scene with the characters, not just read about it. This makes her writing stand out in the Amish Fiction world.

All four novella's kept my attention, especially as Amy writes about "real" life. She weaves redemption, healing, love and forgiveness in these stories, which makes them all the more enjoyable.
If you want to read books by someone who has experienced Amish culture and writes with integrity, along with some creative liberty, pick up Amish Sweethearts. You won't be disappointed.

I think that with every novella or novella collection I review I state that I'm not a novella fan. And that's still pretty true after reading so many. I just prefer a full-length novel where I can really get to know the characters and their stories. I like the detail provided in full-length novels, too. This being said though I truly enjoy Amy's novellas. She is able to pack all the qualities I love about full-length novels into a novella and leave me completely satisfied. Amish Sweethearts is no different.

I don't have a favorite among these four stories as each one is unique in its own way. The collection is about Amish people finding love and Amy does it in a way that is so genuine and real. The characters and their stories are well-developed and the stories are perfectly paced. There are no feelings of things being rushed or skipped over to meet a word count or to meet all of the requirements of a novella. Each of these four stories is a complete story from beginning to end and I loved that I could really get to know the characters throughout their stories.

Amish Sweethearts is Amy Clipston doing what she does best. She has created characters that we will soon think of as real and stories that we will treasure and talk about long after reading. Fans of Amy are sure to enjoy this collection and this would also be a fantastic way to introduce someone to Amy and the genre. This book is definitely one for the keeper shelf.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher and was not required to write a review. All opinions are mine.

Two of these stories were very familiar to me - but I loved reading them again! I especially loved Lindsay from the Kauffman Amish Bakery series (she is one of my favorite of Amy's characters) so I was very happy to see that one of these new stories focuses on her and her fiance, who struggles with problems that he believes makes him unworthy of her. It's sweet and heartbreaking that he is willing to give her up, thinking she deserves better, but love doesn't work that way, so when Lindsay ultimately convinces him that he and his love are enough, of course they have a happy ending, which is what I wanted for her back in the series.

This is a book containing four novella's in it. I give it 5 stars, I enjoyed reading this book and loved all the novella's. I couldn't pick a favorite that's how good they were. Once you start reading it's hard to stop. Definitely a page turner for sure. I definitely recommend this to others. You won't be disappointed at all. I was given an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

I don't usually read Amish fiction, mainly because I have too many Mennonite friends to really want to read Amish fiction, if that makes any sense? However, I have read Amy Clipston's Amish fiction series and I have to say, she really does write them well!

This is the first novella collection that I've read, and I enjoyed it a lot! In particular, I enjoyed being able to put the book down whenever I finished a novella, instead of reading all the way through.

Each of the stories had a nicely developed backstory, and the storylines also moved very well. None of the stories really felt like insta-love, despite being novellas, which is something I appreciated, since so often Amish fiction straight up feels like a romance novel, where the entire point of the book is for them to fall in love, and nothing happens to prevent that. Clipston's books don't do that, and I really like that.

Also, the Amish in her books weren't exactly your stereotypical Amish: they are more real, and although I don't doubt that there are aspects that aren't as accurate as they could be, they are more real than a lot of Amish fiction I've read.

Overall, I really really liked these stories! I was very impressed with the pacing of them, and how they didn't feel rushed despite being novellas.
My Ranking-

7/10

Things I liked-

Although they are all novellas, the stories didn't feel like insta-love--they are all very well paced
How the stories tie to other series that she's written!
Cute romance stories!
There were all good backstories and not quickly summarized
Clean wholesome reads
Accurate to Amish lifestyle (modern day Amish lifestyle), as far as I can tell
I like reading novellas more than I thought! I liked getting to put the book down after every novella

Things I didn't like as much-

There are some scenes where I was a little uncomfortable with (guy with girl) scenes: nothing scandalous but I wouldn't be in those scenes myself
Like I've seen, I'm not always a fan of romance, so I'm docking a point just because of that
Slightly stereotypical Amish love stories (but that's the topic of it all so like)

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a free e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review.

One thing is for sure and certain, you cannot go wrong picking up a book of Amish novellas to read during a winter storm and when it is a book full of Amy Clipston novellas it is wunderbar (wonderful)! I found myself falling in love over and over again when reading the novellas in Amish Sweethearts.

Love and Buggy Rides is a story about Janie and Jonathan who work together at Lancaster Souvenirs and Buggy Rides. One day while Janie is eating lunch she witnesses an accident while Jonathan is driving a buggy full of tourists. Janie is drawn to helping Jonathan in the aftermath but is afraid to go against her father. Will their new friendship survive or will another tragedy tear them apart?

A Home for Lindsay is a novella with characters from the Kauffman Amish Bakery series (one I need to move up my TBR pile). Matthew has been building a home for his beloved, Lindsay, on his sister's farm and is looking forward to being married to Lindsay in six short months. Everything comes to a screeching halt when Matthew learns of his sister and brother-in-law's pending bankruptcy. Matthew becomes fearful of not being able to provide for his future wife. Will Matthew share the terrible news with Lindsey or run away leaving her heartbroken?

Where the Heart Is shares the love story of Tobias and Mariella (a beautiful and unusual name). Tobias has returned from his time in an alcohol rehab in Florida and is ready to make amends with his community and family, especially his Dat (dad). He returns in time for his little sister's wedding. Mariella is one of the wedding party and has been helping her best friend get everything ready for the wedding. Sparks start flying as Mariella and Tobias find themselves together over and over again.

Love Birds is one of my favorite Amish novellas. For some reason I find myself reading this novella over and over again. I has previously read it when I read An Amish Market. This story definitely fills you with the warm and fuzzies when you finish. I'm in love with how the Amish community takes care of each other in a time of need. This novella focuses on the romance blooming between Ellie and Lloyd but throughout the reader learns how the Amish help one another.

If you love to read Amish stories, ask your sweetheart for this book for Valentine's Day. You won't be sorry.

Thank you to NetGalley and Zondervan for a copy to read in exchange for a review based on my own honest thoughts.

Amish Sweethearts is a beautiful collection of four novellas written by Amy Clipston. This book would make the perfect gift for Valentine's Day!
A Home for Lindsay is the first novella in Amish Sweethearts. Lindsay Bedford cannot wait a few more months until she becomes Matthew Glick's wife. She is very excited. Something huge happens and Matthew breaks off the engagement. Lindsay is crushed, but her motto is "to never lose faith". You will want to be sure to check out this fast paced novella, which is part of the Kauffman Amish Bakery Series. A sweet treat!
A beautiful time to take a buggy ride in Lancaster is in Autumn. In the novella, Love and Buggy Rides by Amy Clipston, Jonathan Stoltfuz is a buggy driver for Lancaster Souvenirs and Buggy Rides. He lives in Maryland but is visiting Pennsylvania for a few months. He really enjoys his new job. Janie Lantz just started her new job as a cashier at Lancaster Souvenirs and Buggy Rides. She and Jonathan become quick friends. Can this friendship blossom into anything more with all of the many obstacles that they face? This fast-paced novella is a very enjoyable read. Settle in for quite an amazing buggy ride through beautiful Amish Country.
The third novella in this collection is Where the Heart Is. Tobias Smucker is back home after being in Florida for the past few months. He is glad to be back, however he left on a bad note. He was in Florida working for his uncle and recovering from being an alcoholic. He is ready to confess and make things right again with his family and his community. Will they welcome him back? He has always had a rough relationship with his father...is there anything he can do to make amends with his father? Along the way, Tobias finds comfort and solace in his younger sister's best friend, Mariella. A lovely read!
Love Birds is the last of the four novellas in Amish Sweethearts. It is a delightful read! Ellie Lapp recently started working at the Bird-in-Hand Gifts and Treasures Shop. She really enjoys working there, and the extra money has been helping her mother and her get by, especially since the death of her brother, Seth. Lloyd Blank, Seth’s friend, has been helping Ellie and her mother with the farm. Ellie and Lloyd start spending more time together and develop a fast friendship. Could this friendship develop into something more? Ellie makes a mistake and betrays Lloyd’s trust. Will he be able to look past that and rekindle the friendship they once had?
I definitely recommend picking up a copy of this book for yourself and a friend! You won't be disappointed!

Amish Sweethearts
Amy Clipston
Fans of Amy Clipston won’t be disappointed with her new set of heartwarming Amish stories. Each one is full of fun and will bring a smile to your face.
In the first one, Love and Buggy Rides, Janie is a cashier at Lancaster Souvenirs where Jonathon works as a buggy driver, taking tourists for rides. When Jonathon is in an accident, he has to go to work in the stables instead of driving passengers because the person driving the car insists that Jonathon was at fault. Janie helped Jonathon when the accident happened and they begin talking more and more in the days that follow. Their friendship starts to grow into something more, but there are obstacles to overcome. Jonathon is almost ten years older than she is and her father does not want them in a relationship. Other troubles follow, but will love find a way to bring these sweethearts together?
The second story is A Home for Lindsey and it is the one I looked forward to the most. In the Kauffman Amish Bakery series, we met Lindsey and Matthew. It is finally looking like their happy day is coming and they are approaching marriage with excitement. However, Matthew finds out that the land he has been building their house on is no longer going to be owned by his family. He is devastated. How can he provide for Lindsey if he can’t even build her a home? Rather than try to find a solution with her, he decides they should not be together. Lindsey is devastated. Can Matthew look beyond his fear of failure to the love they share and find a way to bring them back together?
The next story is Where the Heart Is. This story continues Tobias Smucker’s story from Summer Storms. When we last saw Tobias, he had left his Amish home to head for Florida where he checked himself into an alcohol treatment facility. He is home now and wants to reconnect with his family. Heading to the Bishop’s home first, he runs into Mariella, the bishop’s daughter. She helps him as he transitions back into the fold, giving him strength and helping him repair his relationship with his father. Will he realize that she is more than his little sister’s best friend? I think this one ended up actually being my favorite of the four. I really enjoyed how it all came together!
In the final story, Love Birds, Ellie Lapp and her mother are still recovering from the death of Seth, her brother (The Forgotten Recipe), when she starts spending time with Lloyd, one of Seth’s friends. She is working at a gift shop and Lloyd has a remarkable talent with wood carvings. She really wants him to sell his products at the store, especially when her boss tells her that her hours will be cut. Lloyd’s father thinks it is too prideful though. Will they find a way to help each other and maybe find love along the way?
I really enjoyed these stories and am grateful to NetGalley for the chance to read and review them. Amy Clipston has done a good job of bringing her characters to life (like always!) and I look forward to more!

A Home for Lindsay is about a Lindsay and Matthew and his struggle with doing what is right for the right reason.

3 stars:
A Home for Lindsay (Kauffman Amish Bakery):
This was okay. I liked the story. It was sweet with a happy ending, but I didn't like the characters.

4 stars:
Where the Heart Is (Summer Storms companion novella):
This was an interesting story. I liked the characters, and there was a little family mystery and romance. The main story involves family and forgiveness, which was unexpected in this collection.
Love Birds & Love and Buggy Rides (Amish Heirloom):
These were sweet stories. I liked the characters in these stories, too. I remembered them from the novels in this series. It was nice to see how there HEA came to be.

These novellas were so sweet and cute! There should be more anthologies of just Amy Clipston’s stories.

Usually I complain that novellas are undeveloped because they are so short, but I didn’t feel that way about any of these (though I would have enjoyed reading these as full novels just because I love Amy Clipston’s writing so much).

I liked that the novellas connected to other series. It was nice to see the characters again and learn more about them.

I’m so happy I found this author. She writes Amish fiction very well.

I enjoyed all four of these sweet stories written by one of my favorite Amish fiction authors, Amy Clipston.

There is a nice blend of humor, personal growth, challenges, and love in each story. Throw in wonderful characters and settings and you have another great read.

I borrowed this story collection from our local public library.

This book is completely clean in language and content. :0}

Amy Clipston is a swell writer who knows how to write some of the best Amish fiction around!
This book is now exception. With just a touch of mystery in each story it makes it hard to put down.
There are 4 stories and I loved each of the main character that was featured in each story.
The cover on the front is really beautiful. Almost puts you in mind of Christmas.
I recommend this book. NO compensations were received and all opinions are my own. My thanks goes to Netgalley

This collection of novellas consist of two new tales and two previously published in other collections by Amy Clipston. Each story find the characters facing obstacles in their relationships. But like most Amish romance stories, the hero and heroine find a happy ever after.

I do not recall when or where this book came from. It’s my on my bookshelf and I needed some short stories to read. It was the perfect solution.

These four novellas are entertaining yet quick reads. Be aware that two of these stories were also published in other collections. The characters are interesting as are the plots. The stories are detailed despite their short length, and the romances are sweet.
