Eight years ago vampires began being outed in Central Europe where they had long been a part of the regions legends and lore. Discovering that these creatures have been living among them for centuries creates an atmosphere of terror and unrest as organizations, such as the Silver Sword Society, are formed to deal with the monsters, and vigilantes take justice into their own hands. Gardually, the tide has been turning as the younger generation, steeped in fictional vampires via the romanticizing of them in novels and film, has embraced the vampires. When talk show hostess Dimitra Chernova pits rival vampires against one another on her program, Dimitra After Dark, she sets off a violent battle between the reigning vampire king and the vampire who seeks to usurp the throne. This places the life of a young human female in danger, as she has just become the mistress of the reigning king.

I didn't really know what to expect from this book when I started reading it. I knew it involved vampires and that's all I needed to know. I would definitely put this book in the paranormal romance category but it's not all about the romance (thank God). I normally read anything fantasy or science fiction and this book definitely hit the mark! It does have some steamy scenes ;) but nothing too graphic or explicit. The author really does a great job of giving you the impression of what's happening but really focuses on giving you the feeling of what's happening. If that makes sense.
This book has a lot of suspense that I didn't expect and I really enjoyed it! It keeps the book moving along nicely and the author does a great job of interweaving the past and the present to keep things interesting.
The book really focuses on the main character and her life verses the book focusing on what's happening and the main character is part of it. The book does have a lot of action in it to once again keep it interesting.
This really was a great book and I enjoyed the building tensions and the twists I didn't see coming. A great book if you like vampires, romance, or a just a good story.
