*This book was sent to me by Morgan herself in exchange for an honest review.
I was honestly starting this book not expecting a lot, because I have read quite some of poetry book around the same theme as Davis', and ended up not liking it. Davis' did touch upon teenage romance. Like the feeling of being in love and can't get him out of our head type of feeling, which I experienced before. I mean, we all do :) But she writes it in a beautiful, simple, and lovely way. It warmth my heart, really.

The beginning of this book is great but it did not really intrigued me as much (in theme wise not in the writing, because oh man, I really enjoy her writing!). However, when I get deeper into the book, I ended up feeling surprised. She express her feelings in a way that is not cheesy, and weak.
Like she felt the pain and brokenness, but she did not whine about it. All I feel is the acceptance of being hurt, struggling to moved on, but she knows she have to. If you read this book, you will feel that the person who go through all of this, is a girl who won't whine and cry around too much when she feel hurt. She won't looking for attention for anyone to comfort her. She just accept the feeling, being brave by letting go, and make the person who hurt her feel regret to ever hurting her (GRL PWR haha love it).

"I was a beautiful voice
echoed across a canyon,
under a pink,
sherbet sunset.
An iridescent prism
producing a display of
every color.
A pleasant, earthy smell
after a heavy rainfall.

You were intimidated
by my beauty,
and couldn't peacefully
coexist with me"
- Conflict in Coexistence

I also love the last part of this book "Blooming" - Learn to Accept Change and Plant New Seeds. Ha! When you read this, you may thought. It's planting a new seed of love. Well, while that maybe true. Davis' not specifically talking about relationship with someone. This section is more like a recipe to get you through this broken hearted by focus on other things that you love, by not giving up even you feel like it. It's about believing and hoping for better things ahead.

I loved Davis' poetry. I love how brave this person is. I love how she did not blame herself for a broken relationship. I love how she is not giving up of hoping, and keep finding herself in the midst of all :) Thank you for writing a simple yet beautiful poetry <3

2.5 stars.
Sadly enough, these were not my personal cup of tea. In a way, the poems felt young, which is understandable given that this is both a debut and by a young author, but sometimes made them fall a bit short for me. I did absolutely adore the illustrations, which are made by the author herself. I also liked how it felt like a journey, and there were a few poems (in part III in particular) I really enjoyed.
As poetry is really personal, my review and rating don't mean this wouldn't be a great collection for you!

A lovely little debut book of poetry from a promising young author. Morgan is only sixteen, but her work is not just good for her age - it is just plain good. The vast majority of the poems are solid, but there are a few in particular that are quite striking. My personal favorites are "Sun-Kissed", "Mélodieusement", "Refusal", and "This Is How It Ends." While I saw some space for improvement in a few overused lines and images, this was a deeply enjoyable and quick read about young love and healing. Truly, it was a breath of fresh air.

Simple, elegant & thought provoking

This book of poems takes you on a journey through love, loss and healing. It was a reminder that not all is lost when you’re struggling in life. Be okay with the struggle because eventually the clouds will break and you will begin to heal.

FINDING ROOTS is amazing!
.
Morgan is an author of my age (16) who wrote two impressive books and drew impressive illustrations.
.
Finding Roots resembles a very imaginative and experimental use of words including a vast array of imagery. To make it all simple, I will use the term 'sweet'.
.
Thank you Morgan, may God bless us with a wonderful and poetic journey in life. 🌿

This review is late, as I read this collection mainly in November of 2017.
A short and sweet read that was filled with punch worthy, to your heart poetry. This was a debut poetry book that was gifted to me by the writer, and I was surprised that it was filled with such metaphoric word for her young age. (I believe she is only 16.) If you're not sure if poetry is for you, or if you're just starting to test the waters of the poetry world, this may be a good place to start. Her words are crisp and sometimes painful, but that's what most poetry is about. If you can't pull emotions out of the reader, than you may not be pulling them out of yourself, Morgan Davis definitely accomplished pulling her feelings out and etching them onto paper.
While I typically enjoy poetry with a little more age (I'm pushing 30), I enjoyed reading the youthful remarks of someone who likely recently experienced these things. It's a nice travel through my late teens and a reminder of the simple things that can actually break your heart before the real world gets involved. Part three was my favorite part, and I highlighted most of the poetry from that section more than others.
I'd recommend this to anyone who may want to look back into their youth, and cross the bridges that are painful as an adolescent. Again, this is a great collection for someone who wants to step into the poetry world, as it is a short yet very captivating read.

Poeminhas curtos e fofinhos, dão uma sensação de leveza. Escrevo poemas as vezes e fiquei desejando conseguir escrever dessa forma mais leve, tudo que eu escrevo costuma pesar nas minhas costas.

"You lit a flame inside of her. Don't be surprised when she burns everything to the ground."
Absolutely loved this little book of poetry! Great imagery and cute drawings to go with some of the poems. Some of my favorites were "Love of Yellowing Pages," "Losing Control," and "Find your Speck of Solitude." A quick and lovely read!

This writer (if Author Bio is still accurate) is 16 what! I know that Morgan's writing will develop massively and she's making a good start with this debut poetry book.
There is a wistful feel to the poetry, and the work is at its best when it focuses on the every day comforting little things in life (the love poetry seemed a little clique for me). I definitely could relate to the perfect taste of a good coffee in the morning, that's my therapy too! 😉

the poems are simple yet captivating. I'm no professional when it comes to judging poetry but I can say that the way Morgan Davis writes is truly unique. She tells you stories worth a thousand pages within a few lines. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Finding Roots! I loved the topics of love and love being part of teenagers' life. The book wasn't just a poetic guide through love, it was a journey seen through the eyes of the poet!

This book was given to be for the exchange of an honest review.
I loved this poetry book! It was beautifully written and the illustrations were beautifully drawn as well. It perfectly showcased the theme of Love, Loss, and Healing in a teens life. I was a quick read with lots of feels. The poems were really relatable for me at times, as I am a teen myself.
As her debut book I congratulate her for an amazing start!
I hoped to be able to read her second poetry book soon!
Lastly, I would recommend this poetry book to everyones, and anyone who is looking to read poetry about teens lives.

Wow. That was my reaction after finishing Morgan’s book. It was beautiful. It’s actually hard to believe she is only 16. The book is broken into three sections. Sprouting, Wilting, and Blooming. My favorite poem was Redecorating. I enjoyed the random drawings on the poems as well. It was a very nice touch. I really can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us. She’s definitely a poet we should watch!

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!

I absolutely adored this collection of poetry. It was vulnerable, uplifting, and incredibly endearing. This is the type of book that you curl up in bed with whilst your hot chocolate is cooling. It's honest, but it's not heavy. The author's writing style is very flowing and easy to read, whilst being very well thought-out, and her illustrations add more visuality to the poems. Overall, I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a very inspiring and cute read! <3

Found it to be a very easy read. There were a few spelling/grammatical errors which I found to be distracting. A little too forced for my liking-meaning the poems and metaphors seemed like they were trying too hard. Every poem was more metaphorical than the next but seemed like it was trying to be “artsy”. Disappointed it was nothing special.

This book has some really beautiful lines, but also a lot of them in my opinion lack depth. It's beautiful but for me I wish it held more meaning.
