Release Of Magic

Rate this book

There are some on our planet who believe you can't handle the truth, so the truth has been hidden for millennia. The only problem is the truth is coming back… Early.

Leira Berens had her case blow up in her face.

Literally.

Now, the necklace is still in play, she has no leads and it's time she got in touch with her feelings.

She'd rather wrestle an alligator than deal with her feelings. Fortunately, there's still road trips, Cheetos, and Dr. Pepper.

And Correk is willing to help... there's also leira's sidekick troll - YTT - who is learning a few new words, and she’s introduced to an entire magical community.

Her new found powers hint at something more about her DNA and the Feds have noticed.

But in the end, family comes first and Leira has a shot to get her mom out of the psych hospital and she is going to take it.

The adventure is just beginning…

Welcome to The Revelations of Oriceran.

Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.

I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.

There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.

Thank you for checking out my stories!

Release of Magic by Michael Anderle and Martha Carr is book two in this great series. Our cop and elf are on a mission to find the killer of the Prince and return the stolen object. Not as easy as it sounds. The elf isn't use to human ways of food which can be quite hilarious. The little troll is bond to our gal and has a link to her feelings. If the cop is mad, the troll gets mad, example -he would then grow really large and gets big fangs! I
The whole book is full of subplots and zany situations, great characters, and unpredictable from page to page! Can't wait to start the next one!
Carly Robins narrates and performs it perfectly!

There wasn’t much action in this book, this was more of Liera discovering more about her magic, finding ways to rescue her mother and introducing more characters. It was evenly paced and moved along but it was more of world building.

I am finally getting it. When's the next one?

I am a huge Military SciF i fanatic. Was turned on to Bethany Anne and loved her. So I started to read s little Fantasy and Magic. When the AGES started coming out I bought them and read everyone and they were ok, just not my "cup of tea" . I
When Anderle started talking about another Series after Bethany Anne but he wanted to do a magic thing I shook my head. I knew that the books would be ok,because Anderle doesn't do junk. So....I read #0 and it was ok, I have it a 4, and decided to do one more...so #1...it was better but still have it a 4....thought to myself, ok, because of Bethany Anne..I will do one more...
This one struke a cord...not sure why. I know that the Bar and her friends/family are a great addition. The mother hit me hard as I put myself in Laura's place. Put it all together and you got my 5 Stars as well as "Where 's the next one", and when is the troll going to get into the act?

Sorry it took me so long...I have been told I am a little slow in accepting change.

Ms. Carr - Thanks for the read and as you have said in different words..."arriving is fun and wonderful...but it is the journey that got you there and crafted the words."

Trolling the book series is worth it

It's fantasy, mystery, laughter ,paranormal and human rolled into one. The characters are sharp, intelligent, naive, worldly and magic. It's well written and frankly enjoyable to read. I can't wait for the rest. I like how the two authors put their individual stamp into the story . It makes for an interesting parallel. The addition of yumfuck the troll is delightful.

Getting even Better!

I refuse to post spoilers, but don't read this book if you're on a diet! I'm serious about that! I loved this book more than the first, and can only ask, where's the next?

Ingenious

A cussing troll who grows in response to his elven/human''s emotions, an elf who likes to shop at Cisco and sample all the foods and of course explanations why Elvis and Justin Timberlake are so talented. This is beside the fact that the main character and storyline is topnotch.

Be careful what we wish for? Naaaaw!

Martha has no friggin lumps in her version of verbal oatmeal. It's truly organically grown in her verbage garden. Her grand opening of her Oriceran restaurant was slightly delayed for Yum Fuck wanted sampling rights. Her widdle troll was extraordinary as the surprise maître d'. Just forget reservations. Just go there. You'll get taken care of immediately. How? No one really knows. Rumors of magic are there but Naaaaaw!

The other world, full of magic will be back... Okay, great plot instrument, but am I the only one who notices that the characters don't seem all that concerned? You would think that people would be positioning for the coming storm?

The bad guys are cardboard. No depth.

The campy plot stuff is okay, but there is a point that most readers will ask, "who cares about the crunchy cheese puffs?¨...

The story arc doesn´t seem to be in any hurry to get anywhere.

The author is beginning to develop the other characters a bit.

Interesting plot, full of humour and fun characters. This is now one of my favorites series, this book had me interested from the first page and never lost me. I now have another author I have to follow. Unable to put this tale down till the end, I found myself wrapped up in these characters and tearing through the book. I can't wait for the next story.

Release of Magic is the second book in The Leira Chronicles by Martha Carr and Michael Anderle.

I'm definitely happy with how this story is progressing. We see equal development on all fronts. Leira alone has grown and evolved just through this one short novel. Her magic enriching her, capitalizing on her inner strength, helping her to trust in herself, her instincts, and those around her. The developments in her mothers release from the sanitarium have certainly been a deciding contributor, and the possibility of reaching her grandmother only influences her further. Her magic is my main focus; primarily in regards to her power level, her lineage on her father's side, and the mentions of her natural channeling. I wonder what other Oriceran race she could be tied too genetically?

Oof. These Rhazdon followers are such a cult. It's so completely shuddering when they have their normal moments, going about their everyday lives. The great amounts of destruction and evil they wish to inflict on the world as if its some new order eden. I'm concerned more for Oriceran at this point, given the way in which the darkness has seeped further into their society. This will only get more destructive, before any resolution may be found.

Then there's this Katie Toler, special agent, and half-Atlantean. She definitely concerns me. Along with the schemes the muckety-mucks in the government are concocting, and hoping to rope Leira into.. The General made some troubling comments, emphasizing that the Earth is her world. Which leads me to believe they don't purely benevolent intentions in naming her liaison...

I've already come to completely adore Yumfuck. He's a hilarious addition to their group dynamic. I'm exciting to learn more about Correk's background, especially in regards to his father. That doesn't even begin to describe how much more I want to know about the magic and fantasy of the different races and species.

This book was wonderful!

I loved Leira from the very start, but this book filled in so many of the gaps I hadn't known needed to be filled, and now Leira is so much more fully formed in my mind.

I loved the way that she thought that being self-contained meant that she had no real family contacts whereas, in fact, she had been literally surrounded by the family she chose, from the very beginning!

As someone with only a tiny blood family myself, I learned, after my child was born, how necessary it is to choose your family - your tribe - and how important it is that your child knows how to make those connections, too - and she has done so, in spades, thankfully!

Martha's way with words, her warmth, her vitality, and her love for people, shines through so very brightly in this book, and it's just made me eager to read every other book she's written.

She says in her Authors Notes about Michael considering Yumfuck as being a little like herself, but I feel that Leira is as much of an echo, too, and I'm loving getting to know Martha through Leira, plus all the other wonderful characters who surround her - after all, isn't the first rule of writing something like: 'write what you know '?

Even if you don't know yourself inside and out, I'm sure that your inner self comes out in what you can write - and what a gift that is!

This book was such an absorbing, and wonderful, read - and it only makes me more eager than ever, to get on to the next one in this series.

So, without ado, I'm going on to book three in this series: 'Protection of Magic', to see what's going to happen next, in Leira's life.

So I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think about it!

PS: I read YOUR Author's Notes, too, Michael and, as usual, they were brief, informative, and made me laugh, too! Lol

Actually written at a decent (although still slightly too fast) pace. This story involves detective Leira Berens once again and continues the story from Waking Magic. While a still the writing style lacks and it moves to fast, this book shows remarkable improvement over the last one.

Something to know is finally the characters don’t act as if they have no personality. They grow and show that they are more than a gimmick. Leira grows more within this book in relation to the somewhat trivial sounding parts of the book more than the major scenes.

More than that, this story gives a sense of normalcy to the world, that it isn’t just a flat landscape for the characters to move around in. That said some pieces are still disjointed and don’t seem to be put into effect at the best times possible.

Overall, a vast improvement over Waking Magic. This books even sets up the next one cleanly and gives a sense of purpose for a series to grow out of. I’ll continue to check out this series as the universe is large and, dare I say, magical.

I quite like Leira and friends. Both the her elven ones and her human ones. However there was quite a bit too much silly stuff in this book for me to truly like it. I mean, come on, Justin Timberlake … an elf? Not to mention the entire Costco nonsens. It was just silly and too long.

Once you remove the silly parts you get a fairly short book which was reasonably enjoyable to read. There are the usual hints sprinkled around about Leira being special (as in powerful) and I really would like to see where that goes. It is the main reason I still have any interest in this series.

Of course there are also the obligatory conspiracies, involving the necklace from the previous book and Rhazdon artifacts.

There is also some character advancement for Leira apart from her magical development. I did like these parts. Especially the ones with the general. I think I like this guy. The part where he visits the psychiatric hospital and “sets things straight” were my kind of stuff.

On the whole it was a nice light read with some nice magic stuff, adventure, mystery and action. It is really a shame about all the silly stuff which put me off quite a bit. I hope the next book tones that part down a bit.

This was a very good read, but I think that comes from Yumfuck. What a wonderful little character, and I do mean little, since he's only 5 inches tall. He has attached himself to Leira so when she feel in danger he grows into a giant.

Between the necklace, that's now been stolen by a traitor, and Keira's change of jobs and getting her mother out of the crazy-house and her growth in her magic, this has become very exciting at times. I like Correk a great deal, as well as Keira's "bar" family. I will continue with this series.

No romance whatsoever and the F-bomb was used 74 times.

As for the narration: Again Eva Wilhelm forgot when a man was talking so they sounded feminine BUT she keeps getting better.

Another great story

I loved the progression of the story in this one. Especially the growth of the characters. Whether it was YTT learning new words, liera growing emotionally with her magic or a certain elf learning to be more human.
I look forward to more from this fabulous author
Glad to hear that your cancer is in remission. I think it helps that you have something to keep you going. Whether that's family or getting your stories
Out into the minds of your fans. Personal experience in my family proved that to me, but you have to have the will power to keep to the fight.
Hope you stay well and sharing your magic for many years to come.

It was just earlier the same week I started book one and now I'm done with number two. Nuff said

It's only enough set up above because I ran out of room to write more but book one was very engrossing to the point where book two was just a gimme. I knew I was going to read too. I know I'm going to read three and whatever else comes after these books. The storyline is a lot of fun. The characters are very likable, the drama, the humor and the action well tailored ...so kudos to the authors! I've already purchased book 3 cracking that cover in about a minute.... If you want a fun fantasy with Urban, you can't go wrong with this series

Troll, Troll, Troll Your Boat ....

Leira Berens detective, novice magical powerhouse, and royal pain in the ass is assimilating her power, heritage, expanded family and emotions. I like that Leira is a quick study and quickly comes to terms with the changes in her life. The humor, action and story are great. I am glad that she is learning to coexist with Yumfuck. I wonder if that will have future ramifications. The story left me with a good feeling. I am ready to start the next book "Protection Of Magic".

Great continuation of story in series

Great characters, the necklace from book one continues in play to next in series. Leira makes career change towards the end. So excited to see where her new career leads her. Love Correk and the troll. Leira is coming into her magic. This book exposes more about the magical community. I would say this is not a standalone book. You need to start with book one and be prepared to continue series. Loved this book and the story progression.

Leira is learning a lot about family, they come in many different shapes and sizes. But, one thing she finally realizes, they are there when needed the most. As her magic grows and she is determined to get her mother home, she is at a crossroad with her job. She loves being a cop, but her magic is growing stronger, strong enough that people are noticing and that means the government is noticing too. The story has its highs and lows, some funny moments as well.

Another fast-paced excellent story!

This second book in the series is excellent! Is it a bad sign that I read both books in one day instead of cleaning house and other chores? Lol I will just have to knuckle down and get it done before I start book 3.

I was really happy for Leira’s Mom! I can’t wait to read more about Leira’s Mom and Grandma in the future, and her new job, and about the other new people she’s run into, and the bad ‘guy’.

Time changes everything.

Leira is growing as her world changes. Since she found out about her "heritage" she's made peace & is rocking' it! Her Family is growing daily. They were always there, but she's not been aware of them.

Also, Light elves, a troll, Costs, a horrible magic necklace & great evil is afoot: all this makes for a fun, snark-filled romp through Austin, TX & beyond with Leira, her troll, Correct, Estelle & Hagan. Meet them all; love them all!

Great addition

I am loving this series. My favorite character is the troll though. He is awesome. Leira is working tirelessly to get her family back together. The government has an interesting proposition. She is learning a whole lot more about her magic with the help of Correck. A fun book, With Great commentary. The battles are also well written. Can't seem to read the books fast enough. On to the next.

This sequel was just as good, we had the same comedy and everything.
Leira Berens is recovering after her near-death experience, she's failed to get the necklace and though she's not an emotional kind of gal, she has to try and feel them.
I feel like this was the turning point for Leira as she discovers a magical community that she takes to when they meet, she and Correck aren't fighting as much and YTT is being... well... YTT.

Very nicely done!

Great story, couldn't put it down. I'm extremely anxious for the next book. I've read these books as ebooks on my Kindle and now need to get the print versions because they're easier to loan to friends. There are so many people I want to share this series (and TRY with).

Got Mom!

There is definitely a twist in this book that I can't find my way through. I'm just not sure which one. And I like it! Nobody really wants to guess the finish in the first chapter, that's boring. Leira is learning, and guessing her way to me magic, and attention all over the place. Some ok, some good, some, eh not sure yet. But things is a changin', that's for sure.
