(seeing their little bodies go flying cracks me up)

One of the people that abandoned them in the first chapter of the first volume shows up with the two people she's protecting. I'm guessing there's going to be something going on with those three in the future, and the two old people being protected seem like they're hiding something. Senshi also vaguely mentions the group he used to be with and I feel like there's more to that as well. Have to wait and see.

The end of this volume had probably one of the grossest scenes but it resulted in one of the cutest/funniest. Let's just say ... they had to skin giant frogs. 🐸

I've needed some uplifting stuff after reviewing horror for so long. Normally my reviews are more severe but, it's a lonely sad time of year and some good-old fashioned whimsy hits just right.

THIS series is a joy to read! I was giggling to myself reading this today. The characters are adorable, the fights are fun, the banter is great, the overarching story is interesting, the food making and eating is a cute change of pace. It is just THE BEST!

This volume it was good to get some background on how some characters met and also meet some new characters. As we get further into the dungeon it definitely feels like the stakes are getting higher because the characters are getting closer to fighting a dragon (see what I mean when I say this is just like Dungeons and Dragons??)

Seriously though I was cackling reading this and can't wait to continue on to the next volume because the dragon is on the cover and ya girl loves dragons!

This series is always good for the laughs, especially if it's at the cost of Elvish common sense (poor Marcille). Although the series is mostly about subjugating monsters and consuming them for nutrition, another common theme is food sustainability without straining the dungeon ecosystem.

This series never ceases to be interesting.

It was also nice to see how Marcille and Falin became friends. It does worry me, though, since it feels like too much time has passed since they set out on their mission...

A flashback reveals more of the school friendship of Marcelle and Falin; a deep underground lake leads to many encounters with watery monsters of various types. I continue to have a very fun time with this series!

- backstory of the friendship between Falin and Marcille

We meet some new faces in this volume, as well as the party's reunion with a character foreshadowed back in chapter 1. The story gets a lot more breathing room from the "Monster of the week" style chapters that came before it.

Something I think this series captures well about D&D is how often you and your party have to think of creative ways of dealing with a situation, like the characters here trapping a powerful spirit between two large cooking woks. The story delves into the survival and resource management aspects of a dungeon crawler, something I haven't really seen explored in any fantasy novel.

While the translation leaves gaps in the story (or at least I 'll blame the translation and not fault the creator), they are easily ignored to enjoy the delightful combination of fantasy and officialdom, reminiscent of the reading the best of the old-school D&D manuals and adventures of the 80's.

We get to know a bit of one of the characters who fled the band on the first book. Laius learns the hard way that you can't ~really~ eat everything.

I really love how this volume tackles a lot of ethical questions. For one, the ethics of what is ok to eat, especially in a survival situation, is not really something that is a modern issue (that I know of or that I've encountered in my personal life anyways), so I find the way it's handled here to be very interesting and compelling. Seeing Chilchuck agonize over which part of a merman is technically inhuman enough to eat was both funny and very thought provoking.

Just as well, there's a lot of interesting ideas in this volume about the morality & ethics of needing to be compensated for your work versus doing things out of the goodness of your heart. At what point are you, like, a "bad person" or "not a team player" if you refuse to put yourself in a dangerous situation to help someone else... for free, especially? This is a question posed in this volume and I'm not sure if it necessarily has a black and white answer, but watching the characters grappling with it, and chewing on it as I read, was a really enriching reading experience for me.

Other things I enjoyed: Laios getting food poisoning was lowkey fun because making mistakes is the best way to learn (especially when it comes to foods), and it was kinda fun to see him encounter a bump in his monster-eating mania. Poor thing! XD
And it was also fun to learn more new things about Falin, even though she's not apart of our current troop. It says a lot how much she means to everyone, and I definitely care about her even though I don't know her as of the present story!!

This volume is really packed with story, recipes, fun interactions, comedy, and heart -- it's really well written and makes me feel like I'm on an adventure right along with them!!

And so continues my love affair with this impeccable series. Seriously, I'm swooning! There are other manga series that I have adored and are overall 5-star series for me, like "Death Note" and "Horimiya", but this one takes the cake (food pun intended). I think it's a personal thing because "Delicious in Dungeon" is the alignment of so many of my favorite things: adventures, magic worlds, cooking, monsters, cool battles, and a hella cool dwarf.
Ryoko Kui continues to balance moving the overall plot forwards at beautiful pace, while taking time to explore the intricacies of the dungeon and all its inhabitants. I deeply appreciate the fact that readers don't just get blasted with names of creatures but also information about their ecosystems and what's unique about them; this really fleshes out the world so well!
The characters are as wonderful as ever, and each person gets a nice balance of focal time. The additional group that the main bunch met up with in this volume was nicely done: it added texture to the volume while again progressing the plots of everyone involved in a natural way.
5/5, would definitely recommend this series if you're looking for a funny, heartfelt, and really unique fantasy manga!

Gosh this series is so lovely! Absolutely adore the way they use water walking and the fact that there’s starting to be a bit more plot rather than being episodic.

This next volume starts out with the group who was felled by the jewelry bugs being reanimated. It spends some time following them but then they get killed again. They don't seem like very good adventurers.
Then it pans to the main group bickering about what is acceptable to eat and what isn't.
What is the most interesting is how stupid and simultaneously smart Laios is. How can you go from talking about all the different organisms and how to cook them and how to get your team to safety and then immediately eat raw monster...
It ended very funny.

I can't believe some of the panels they included. People are dying and everything and then we get to see Chilchuck dressed in a bag I just- the whiplash of gore versus silliness is crazy and a lot of fun (but also it is a little disgusting sometimes so I decided to never eat again while reading this because I do not trust it to always be something that I find tasty...especially considering I haven't eaten meat for about 14 years)

I'm getting ot the point where is nothing new to write about. The comics keep its standards, it's still fun, smart and creative in ways to resolving both adventures and dishing various dungeon fauna and flora along the way.

3.5 stars. If volume one was the food volume and volume two was the character volume, then volume three is definitely the adventure volume. I’m enjoying this one enough to continue reading for at least a couple more volumes. I’m especially interested in what the dragon will bring in the next volume and if we see any more former party members coming up soon.
