Emily Smith has always been told she’s quite the catch, so why do all of her relationships end so quickly? And why does she attract pretty boys who make her feel anything but feminine? Sure, she’s a firefighter and a better mechanic than most of the guys she knows, but she still wants someone who makes her feel like a lady. When Dominic Jewell shows up, she thinks she’s found Mr. Right.
Dominic is a brand new airline captain and is on top of the world. As the youngest of eight siblings, he’s been bossed around his whole life and is ready to be in charge. But he feels like he’s a half step behind this incredible new woman in his life.
When Emily faces tough days at work, and needs to recuperate in her own way, can Dom figure out how to be there for her but also give her the space she needs? If he can’t strike a balance between being strong and being supportive, they might both decide that it’s just another failed attempt.
Emily Smith is the firefighter/engineer and a first rate mechanic. Dominic Jewell is among the youngest airplane Captains for his airline (he doesn't know of anyone younger). In some ways they're both alphas within their own families and professions but are struggling to find a life partner who can deal with the responsibilities and burdens that come along with their professions. Emily experiences some dark days as a result of her career that were described perfectly. I was the teacher that kids chose to tell when they were abused. The stories and the marks would definitely follow me home and interfere with sleep. You have to develop a strategy to deal with your emotions or it would be too difficult to go back. When Emily employs her strategy which is a day away from all human contact and involves lots of ice cream and Disney movies, Dominic is hurt when she doesn't want to see him. I also enjoy the interplay of the firefighters at her station and how it compared to the interplay with Dominic's very large family. They eventually work out their problems with respect to both their professional and personal relationships. I recommend this book and look forward to others by Daniel Banner. Emily is the only firefighter on her shift and finding someone to accept her in a man's world has been tough but one day after helping a stranded lady with a flat tire this good looking man in a telsa all electric car comes and helps her. During the next few days neither her or Dom could forget each other. Over a few weeks and 2 dates they realized they would have to work together during the not perfect days. Love this series
An amazing story how two totally different people from two stressful jobs came together. Emily learning to trust her like movie star smile guy named Don. It's truly an interesting story one you don't want to put down but turn the next page to see what happens.
Emily and Dominick are both strong willed people and career driven and convinced they won't find a partner that will accept them as they are. When fate causes both of them to stop to help a lady change her tire they meet, but don't exchange numbers they both start wishing that they did. Emily uses her department connections to track him down and ask him out. The first half of this book was really good, but the second half was meh.
This is my favorite of Daniel Banner's books! I loved the Disney touches and although it was a bit shorter than I wanted, it was pretty well -developed for its size. Clean, some intense parts about character's job as a firefighter.
I loved the sense of humor, suspense. & the emotion in this novella. His big family with all of their hilarious names & jokes were great. A new fav in the PC firefighters series! I live by the crater she swam in, so there really is a cool place like that!
Sometimes the stronger the characters are the more they need support and love and understanding that is sometimes the things people don't understand especially in jobs like firefighter and police officers.
I enjoyed seeing the lives of the firefighters that most of us have not thought about. Dom's family was hilarious which lightened the mood. I thinks this is my favorite of the series.
Oh I do love the Park City fireman stories. I like that this one has a female fireman. Doesn't hurt that the male interest is a hot pilot. His family sounds like a great group too. This story was a good read.
This was a good book. Very light read other than 2 or 3 graphic descriptions about how people had died. Extremely cheesy and goofy but still a fun read. Also extremely clean, little to no steam.
Lighthearted and funny story. Enjoyed it! I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook; I was not required to write a favorable review. All opinions in this review are my own.
