Despite the Internet's generally brilliant ability to cough up facts and figures with just a search or two, this WORLD ALMANAC AND BOOK OF FACTS 2018 maintains a fond place in my heart and a visible, usable place on my study table. I've used it or earlier versions of it since childhood, and know how to find corporate addresses and websites, populations and economic data for the nations of the world, sports data, and prior Academy Award, Newberry, Pulitzer, Nobel and other prize winners in a trice. In my experience the biographical data for celebrities living and deceased is more apt to be correct than some of the Internet sites that are basically "fan sites." Besides, sometimes my Internet connection crashes, or I have so many tabs open already on my computer that I dare not open another. All this for less than fifteen bucks!
NOTE: Although the WORLD ALMANAC's publisher has indicated a publication date of mid-December for the 2019 Almanac, Amazon and Barnes & Noble are taking pre-orders with a release date of December 4, 2018 (release date at Walmart is December 10, 2018).
