Wildfire can burn a person, but the growth afterward can be the most beautiful thing anyone will ever see. Beth Martin believes she is weak, a coward who didn’t fight when she needed to most until she stepped into the ring. She’s growing stronger and learning how to open up and trust people with the truths of her past, all thanks to Scott Franks. Being a declared ladies’ man, Scott has never had a woman get under his skin like Beth has. She’s different and he craves more of her. She’s broken and his need to fix her–heal her–matches his desire to hold her in his arms. He just has to hope her secrets and past won’t destroy them before they can become anything more.
Brooke lives in North Central Wyoming with her husband she affectionately refers to as the warden, their two wild and crazy boys, and her yellow lab, Timber. When she doesn't have her nose in a good story, Brooke enjoys spending as much time as she can outside. Walking around town, fishing, hunting, hiking, and messing around the mountains, Brooke loves the great outdoors which shows up quite a bit in her works. Brooke has been writing and telling stories since she was old enough to get someone to sit and listen to her, mainly being her best friend. She started off posting fanfictions and then decided to publish when she was on maternity leave with her youngest. A year later My Cowboy came out. Brooke doesn't just write one type of romances, but loves to explore as many as her mind can come up with. Her hobbies outside of reading are landscape photography, drawing, and just being outside where she can get dirty.
It's important to read the previous books in the Predator series to understand the characters in Wildfire Knockout. This book focuses on the story of Beth and Scott, who we've met in the previous Predator books. Beth, who initially seemed tough, has a compelling and touching story that I was eager to explore. I enjoyed the lively interactions and strong connection between Beth and Scott, but given Beth's past, her cautiousness is understandable. Despite her wariness, she has a kind heart and slowly learns to take a chance on love. Scott is fiercely protective of Beth, as she has completely captivated him and driven him to the edge. He desires a deeper connection with her, but it's challenging when trust doesn't come easily to Beth. As Beth grapples with her struggles, Scott is determined to uncover her secrets and support her, especially when her difficult past resurfaces. It's impossible not to root for these two characters. The author, Brooke, excels in crafting relatable characters that tug at your heartstrings. Wildfire Knockout is a fast-paced and engaging read that evokes strong emotions. It skilfully combines compelling storytelling with a touch of humour. I highly recommend it!
Beth Martin doesn't have faith in herself, her past has shaped her and when she steps in the ring she feels strong. With Scott Franks helping her to achieve her goals and push through the walls she has erected around herself.
Scott had one night with Beth and he wants more, but Beth is holding secrets close and he only sees one way to help her, will it ruin everything they are building instead?
This one had some heartbreaking moments. I felt for Beth, she is a bit of an enigma at first but you begin to understand everything as the story unfolds. I really liked Scott with Beth, he is polar opposite and grapples a bit with not knowing how to not just rely on his charm to get close to Beth. Another wonderful read in the series.
Wildfire Knockout is a novella that is part of The Predator series which I absolutely love. It can be read as a standalone however.
We met Beth and Scott in The Predator books and I knew that I wanted their story.
This book is almost an enemies to lovers series because these two not only spar in the ring but also spar each other with words.
Beth is resistant and has closed herself off due to her past. A past that is sad and somewhat horrifying. What I loved though is her resilience, she's tough she's sassy and she doesn't take shit. But she's also vulnerable and it's Scott that manages to break through that. It's not an easy task but he was so sweet and patient about it.
This was a great follow up to an already awesome series. If you haven't had a chance to read any of these books then I definitely recommend that you do.
Wildfire Knockout: The Predator Series Novella By Brooke May
What can I say about another great instalment in the Predator series, I am really enjoying each book Brooke writes, I am also giving this book a 5-star rating. This instalment is about Scott and Beth. I love how their characters have grown through their own story. Beth has told KC past secrets but then there are also some that she has held on to. Beth’s life went from bad to worse when her mother left the family, leaving her with an abusive father who had plans for her that no parent should ever have for their child. Beth decided that she needed to make plans to get her out of the life that she has now. Luckily for Beth she had a lovely neighbour who wanted to take her in but they both knew that that plan would never work, so her neighbour lied and said she was her grandmother so she could change her name. This is how Beth came about and how she came to be in Denver. While in Denver she met KC in the supermarket when KC went into labour, since that day they have been like sisters. After Chamberlain came back into KC’s life to make her happy, he moved Beth to Boston to live with them. Chamberlain helps Beth get into the boxing scene under the Predator group. Unfortunately for Beth Scott becomes her trainer, Beth has never taken to Scott and dislikes the thought of being around him all the time. Fast forwarding to now for Beth, she is in her first season in the featherweight division. She is also taking the featherweight division by storm, currently Beth is going so well she is undefeated, that is until the day her father finds her when she is out having a run. Beth is taken hostage by her father and two other men that is with him causing her to lose her first fight. Before being taken by her father she meets up with her mum after she has been absent from Beths life for years. Beth also notices that her feelings for Scott have changed and as much as she would like to let him into her life, she knows she can’t. How can he begin to love her when she is so broken?

If you are following this series you understand that this story is all about Beth and Scott. If you are not following this series, you should first stop, step back and read Predator parts 1 and 2 to figure out who all the characters are. This novella about Scott and Beth is so emotional and filled with growth and laughter and second chances. It is beautiful.
Beth is following her dream of becoming a professional boxer under Chamberlain’s guidance and team. When K.C. gets pregnant, Chamberlain decides to take the season (not something I realized that boxers have) off and stay at home with K.C.. Scott and Beth head out on the road for the season and her fights. Between the bouts and the training and just the close proximity, Beth and Scott start to become frenemies. That eventually leads to them not hating each other and a friendship.
Through this time with Scott, Beth is slowly healing the wounds that needed to be healed on the inside so that she could figure out that she could, in fact, love again. Scott’s patience helps get Beth there. One night Beth opens up about everything, all the horrible-ness of her past and why she has been keeping Scott at arm’s length. Scott tries to help Beth understand that none of it matters. That he can love all the broken pieces of her until she is whole or put back together again.
Some big stuff happens (can’t tell you what, you’ll have to read the book for that). Beth finally tells K.C. all the dark and horrible-ness from her past. K.C. tells her that she loves her and that she is her sister because Beth loved her when K.C. didn’t love herself. It was a tearfilled moment.
Not sure where this series goes next but I am here for it. Love these characters. Not sure about everyone. I still don’t trust that everyone has the best intentions but we will see. Oh….If I hadn’t already said it, read this book. It is really good!
Beth and Scott are working the women's featherweight boxing circuit. Scott fell in love with Beth a year ago but since then, Beth refuses to let him get close again. Beth visits a children's cancer center and meets Tilly. Returning to the hotel, Scott is shocked to see Beth's hair is gone. She had her hair cut to make Tilly a wig.
In Denver, Bob enters the locker room while Scott uses the bathroom. Seeing Beth standing frozen and Bob telling her to give him a kiss, Scott rushes to her side, telling Bob to leave immediately, claiming to be her boyfriend. Later that evening, Scott discovers Beth has a hidden secret. She takes a step to confide in Scott, telling him the details as to why she doesn’t trust anyone. Instead of abandoning her, Scott consoles her and declares he will always be there for her. In Dallas, Beth and Scott are closer, though she still isn't fully committed to Scott. They are spending time in a dance club when someone from the past changes the future of Wildfire’s rise to the championship.
The dive into Scott and Beth’s love/hate relationship was written tastefully. I found the sentimental recollection seen through Scott’s memory of their night in Las Vegas during K.C and Chamberlain’s wedding gave a better idea of how he was willing to abandon his playboy reputation. Beth’s visit to the Children’s Cancer Treatment Center brought tears to my eyes. I would have had the same reaction as Scott when he learned why she shaved her head. The surprise revelations were captivating. Connecting with the emotions of the two characters was effortless and the transitions between each point of view were seamless. The use of italics in Scott’s recollection of the path made it clear what point of time was being reflected. I would recommend this romance novel to mature adults who enjoy seeing both sides of a relationship as it develops.
This is the 3rd book in the Predator series. This is another contemporary romance which is hard hitting, sizzling with chemistry, humour and banter between our main characters, secrets and traumas from the past that rise it's head. Where as the first 2 books in the series deal with KC and Chamberlain's relationship this story focuses on Beth and Scott.
The attraction and chemistry between Beth and Scott is electric but it is hidden behind anger and smart ass comments. Scott knows that Beth wants him but she just won't admit it. However Scott is determined to prove to her how perfect they are together. But there are things about Beth's past that Scott doesn't know. Things that have affect her as a person and that still pose a risk even though neither of them realise it.
Beth had a rough childhood. After her mother abandoned her and left her with her abusive father. Beth grew up not trusting me and keeping herself closed off from everyone. When she finally gets the chance to escape her father she does just that. After changing her name and moving on with her life she thinks things are going good, until her past catches up to her. After telling Scott all about her past and the horrors that happened to her will he still want her knowing she is so damaged? And what happens when Beth finds herself back in danger, will she be able to save herself once again?
This is a really good read. My heart broke for Beth for all that she went through and for the effect it still has on her life. I loved how Scott was determined to give her time to realise that he was always going to stand by her and not hurt her. It was nice to read and get to know these characters a bit more in this story.
This is book 3 in the Predator series and if you haven't read the first two books, I highly suggest that you do so you have some background information. Each of the characters for these books are introduced in other books in the series. I tend to enjoy that when reading a series because you get glimpses of what might be coming next or you get to see your favorite characters living their lives. This book is a super quick read not only because it is just a book you don't want to put down but also because it is a shorter book or seemed that way to me. Before, I go into why this book is amazing please do take note that you don't have to read the other two books in the series before this one, as it is considered a stand alone. So if you do read this one, first just know that the other books in the series are just as good and you won't be disappointed when you read them. This book has passion, drama, secrets, character baggage, love, and triumph. There is a past that helped shape one of the characters and they have to figure out if they can overcome that in order to have a fulfilling life of love that they deserve. You will find yourself feeling all the emotions of the characters. You will be rooting for them as they figure things out. You will finish this books feeling at peace with everything that happened and how things ended. The being said I am not going to give anything away. You will find out yourselves when you read this book. I can't wait for more in this series. They are so good.
Beth is a independent strong woman, she has closed herself off to everyone but when Scott comes into her life at first she is trying to push him away but can he wear her down and help her recover from her past.
When Scott sees Beth he knows he has to find out more about this woman but with him being stonewalled at every turn can he penetrate the walls of heart to see he wants her and be with her. Slowly he starts to see the true woman inside and how vulnerable she is but with his love can they survive and work through it.
This is the third book in the series and although can be read as a stand alone it is probably better to read the first two books in The Predator series as it does cover some of the story and two be honest it is a great series as well.
These two characters start off as enemies but as Beth starts to see Scott is a good guy it becomes more intense and in depth to read. Beth's character is a dull on sassy bad a** but you start seeing the vulnerable side too her which is great to read and gives Scott the insight to her. Scott's character is a brilliant equal and complement to Beth's character and this had me turning the pages to try and see what happens next.
This is a novella so is short but we are not short-changed on the brilliant writing and plot to make this book a thrilling read. I recommend reading the other two books you won't be disappointed.
Beth "Wildfire" Martin is a young woman with a bright future after a traumatic past which has left her reeling and hiding behind a protective wall of her own making so that her heart can remain safe. Scott Franks is the trainer that brought his best friend up the ranks in the boxing ring and now he has a new trainee and she is more than he bargained for.
As the two hit the road for Beth's inaugural tour in the boxing leagues, they train hard and fight harder, especially when the places they stay sometimes mess up the reservations and Scott cannot stop himself from trying his hardest to win her over as she burrows deeper into his skin and soul. However, when they have downtime, Beth opens up to her best friend about her past, she is still desperately trying to deny her attraction to Scott, so she is equally frustrated and appreciative of him, especially when she decides to change her appearance after meeting a fan.
Will Beth ever be able to let her guard down and let her broken heart heal, or will she push Scott away like she has everyone else before he has the chance to hurt her too? This is a sporting romance where hope, healing and hurt all combine to attempt to create beauty after the wildfire burns through.
Wildfire Knockout is the third book in The Predator Series by Brooke May. This is a heartachingly good contemporary romance, with endearing characters, steamy chemistry, sizzle, secrets, drama, emotion, and a touch of humour that balances the darker, emotional tones. While the first two books in the series were KC and Chamberlain’s story, this instalment follows Beth Martin and Scott Franks, whom we have met in the first two books of the series, as Beth is KC’s best friend, and Scott is Chamberlain’s. close friend. Their story pulled me in and had me rooting for them right from the get-go. I was so invested in their tale that I devoured all the pages in practically no time. As expected, Ms. May delivered a heart-strumming story that I easily connected with, and left me wanting more, in the best possible way. Well worth the read.
The Series Consists of: -The Predator Part One (Book #1) – Katie and Chamberlain’s Story. -The Predator Part Two (Book #2) – Katie and Chamberlain’s Story. -Wildfire Knockout (Book #3) – Beth and Scott’s Story. -Back In the Ring (Book #4) – Bijou and Noah’s story.
If I thought the first 2 books were something I couldn’t stop talking about to everyone they better get ready for this round because this just made it to my favourite reads list !!!!
The prologue had me hook line and sinker , before chapter one I was an emotional wreck , chapter calmed me down just a little and by chapter 3 I was a goner !!!! I was a blubbering mess and there was a pile of Kleenex looking like Mount Everest 🤣🙈
Beth really had a rough childhood and I love , respect and admire her for rising from her circumstances she’s the definition of a Phoenix 🥰she’s also brilliant in the ring !
There were moments where I had to hold my breath and check in on my heart rate not just because of my lovebirds but the dark and dangerous elements that posed a threat 🙈
The moment that’ll stay with me for quite some time though is the reconciliation between mother and daughter to say I was an emotional wreck would be sooooooo far off 🤪I was a mess !
Beth , Chamberlain, Scott , Beth , Fiona , Calista and the kids are a very special kind of people and it’s a mish mash family I’d love to be part of
I love this side story about Beth and Scott, key characters in The Predator series. Beth wants to pursue her dreams of being a female boxer while working to overcome her feelings of inadequacy stemming from her past. Scott is a great manager and could help Beth to soar as he fills in for Beth's best friend who is out during her pregnancy. The only problem is that Scott is a player, and Beth is the next girl in his sights, claiming to have changed his ways. Will the two be able to their clashing personalities long enough to work together to see Beth reach her goals, or will they fall prey to their attraction for one another?
Brooke May is such a great writer, who takes the time to create dynamic characters as well as placing them in realistic situations that deal with real-world issues. I love that the reader is entertained by the author's use of witty characters, and we get to laugh, cry, and fight alongside them, cheering for them to overcome all obstacles to achieve their goals. Every book in The Predator series continues the storyline of our characters, allowing the reader to watch as the storyline continues to progress throughout the lives of these amazing characters. If you like reading a romance series with strong women, and men who fight for the love of their lives, then this is the series for you. Happy reading everyone, may you enjoy this knockout book. @Brandy Rymer 08/2024
The only bad thing about Wildfire Knockout wa that it was a novella and it ended way too soon. I’m so glad to finally read about Beth and everything she had been through in her life. She will never be alone again because now she has KC, Chamberlain and Scott in her corner supporting her every step of the way.
Beth and Scott grow close as they are on the road together a lot and spend alot of time together but, Beth is a tough nut to crack. Aside from one crazy night together, she keeps her distance or at least tries to. Scott, makes it very hard for her. There is a lot happening in this short novella. When Beth finally seems to Be giving in a little, something traumatic happens which has everyone on edge. Will she be able to move forward now that everything has been laid to rest?
This author is an amazing writer and I can pretty much read any book she writes without even knowing what it’s about.
This author is one that I never pass up because they write marvelous and engaging stories! This is the third book in The Predator series, and it has been absolutely incredible so far. I highly recommend reading the first two books in the series before jumping right into this one. There is plenty of background you’ll want to learn about to truly experience this one. Not to mention that you’ll be extremely addicted after the first few pages. Just like the previous two, I couldn’t find it in myself to stop reading for even a moment which may have led me to walking straight into a wall at one point. Other than the bruise from that, I have zero bad things to say about this book! It may be a quick read, but I promise the author does an amazing job providing all the details of a much longer read. The spicy chemistry is magnificent, and I fell in love with the characters all over again. If you’re looking for an unforgettable contemporary romance to get lost in for the day, look no further!
This is the third book in this series which is just as great as the previous two books. I highly suggest reading the previous books as well. This is an author that I enjoy her writing style as well as her creativeness in her plots. Her books are written with alot of romance with characters that are full of heart and soul. I never hesitate to pick up one of her books. This book is no different. It is a well written story that is fast paced, engaging and hard to put down. Scott and Beth are great characters that made the story easy and entertaining to read. Their story is one where she is broken and he just wants to fix her. Will they find their happy ending or will her past change things? I enjoyed them and what they brought to the story. They are connectable and I had no problems relating to them. I enjoyed watching their growth throughout as well as their chemistry that heats up the pages. I really enjoyed reading this book. I highly recommend this book.
I really have mixed feelings about this one. I felt from the beginning I was dropped into the middle of a story. It was almost like the story is being told backwards then forwards then flashbacks are added. It really was confusing. I figured we would get her rising star story but she is already a star when we start and on tour with Franks. They have already “been together” so its just about him breaking her walls down so she will trust him enough to “be” with him. I did not really feel a connection between the two MC other than manager/client. Maybe due in part to the disjointed storyline.
I have read this author before and this is not my first book in this series. I find that some of hers I really like and others not so much. This one falls in the latter category. I was excited to read about a female MMA type story but this one fell flat for me.
This is the third book (novella) in The Predator Series, and they just keep getting better and better!
This novella follows Beth, her time to shine in the ring, and her decision as to whether or not she should let Scott near the walls she’s worked so hard to build around herself.
You definitely need to read the previous books to know who the characters are and what they are going through in order to get a complete picture of what’s happening. You don’t want to miss out on this series! (4 books in total) So, I recommend you start with “The Predator: Part One” and go from there!
Wildfire Knockout is Book 3 in The Predator series and a novella of Scott and Beth's story. I loved that they got their story and I highly recommend reading this series in order as you do meet Scott and Beth in the previous books. The fire and connection that they have is undeniable and I was rooting for them from the beginning. Passion, desire, drama, secrets and struggles....Beth's story of her past is haunting and heartbreaking. Scott seeks to know Beth on a deeper level and show her what a good man can be in her life...but will Beth be able to overcome her demons of past and look to a future that involves Scott..
This is a great book and it was hard to put down. I am truly loving this series and I cannot wait to read the next story in the series!!
This talented creative author has done it again with a great storyline and wonderful characters that draw you in right from the start and have you totally on their side. This book brings us the story of Scott and Beth who we met in previous books so while we kn0w a little about them this book brings their lives into focus and we understand so much more about them especially Beth who has so much more to her than you would first think from the other books. I liked her in the first two books but definitely needed more which I got here. Scott and Beth have a strong connection and he is very determined to be hers and work out her secrets so he can help her. I loved that about him. Definitely read the first two books of the series as it will help you fully understand things better.
Wildfire Knockout (The Predator Series) by Brooke May 4 Stars
This is the third book in a fantastic series. I suggest reading the books in order though. There are things that happen in the first two that will give you a better understanding of this one. This book is Beth and Scott’s story. Beth is a tough cookie but as you get to know her more, you realize that her past has broken her in so many ways. You will understand why she has trust issues. Her past is sad and horrible. Scott has always been a ladies man. The moment that he met Beth, things changed. He craves more. He is fiercely protective of her and wants to earn her trust.
I thought this book was a great addition to this series. The author creates characters that you want to root for. I loved them all!
Beth and Scott just pull you into the story and continue to make the Predator series one you will not put down. Beth has always had a dream to be a boxer and starts to under Chamberlains team, but when KC becomes pregnant, he takes some time away. This makes it to where Scott and Beth on the road together for her matches. While at first they were not the best of friends, they grow to become friend. Then Beth starts to heal, seeing that she can loved again. She one night explains it all to Scott and he lets her know that he can and will pick up the piece’s ad help her love again. I truly loved this book so much and can not wait to read more! Brooke May you need us loving this series more and more.
This was a great 4 star read. It is a novella for the Predator series. I was excited to get Beth and Scott’s story. Beth has a past that she is trying to move forward from. There is something about Scott that calls to Beth and she starts to fall for him. There is something about him that makes her feel safe. I really liked both characters, I had some LOL moments. Overall I enjoyed this read and getting to see more in depth story for these two. It can be read as a stand alone but I do suggest reading from the beginning of the series. I look forward to reading more from this author and series. 1-click and get started today.
This story is about Scott and Beth And its has some emotional parts to it, so be warned lol. Wildfire Knockout is part of Brooke May's Predator Series, and it continues to build on the tension and drama of its predecessors with its electrifying mix of suspense and intrigue. In this installment, the stakes are higher as the characters face increasingly dangerous challenges. As always this authors writing is engaging, capturing both the suspense and emotional depth of the narrative. This book is likely to keep you hooked and eager the whole time. I can't wait for the next part in this series. If you haven't read this or any book by this author then I highly suggest you do.
I absolutely loved this little novella about Scott and Beth's story. It's way more heartbreaking than you could have ever imagined but the redemption at the end for Beth is *chef's kiss* and the way Scott fights for her is swoon worthy. I was so exciting to finally get to read their story and May did not disappoint with the spice or the drama. I've loved Beth's character from the beginning of the series and to finally get her story was awesome. You don't necessarily need to read the beginning of the series to understand this book but it will definitely help if you read Predator Parts 1 & 2. I cannot sing enough praises for this series! This was a super quick read too.
This little novella was Scott and Beth's story. We met them inThe Predator series. It's truly a beautiful story of overcoming challenges thrown into your life. Scott was Prince Charming to Beth's damsel in distress. He wanted to be there for her. It didn't seem like she showed her vulnerable side much. Watching this relationship develop was a beautiful thing. The author a pretty realistic view of how they work. It's such a good story. It gives all the feels. I loved the writing and the characters. This author does a fantastic job with her books.
Scott is known as a ladies man amongst his friends. They told him when he met his match that it would be a knockout and Beth is it. She's broken and he wants nothing more than that to help her heal and get put back together. She has been hurt so much by her past but is slowly healing with him by her side. I have enjoyed this little series and was glad to see that these two got their own little story. It was a quick read and I wish there were a little more to it but it was enough to get to know these characters on a deeper level. If you liked The Predator parts one and two then you will enjoy this short story as well. It definitely recommend reading them all.
I liked Beth from the very beginning of Katie's story but getting to know her made me love her and brought out my strong desire to comfort and mother her.
Scott is always there to help Chamberlain and Katie , but he never took the time to live his life. It was all centered around training Chamberlain and traveling to the different fights, but Beth changed everything the moment he saw her.
The back and forth between Scott and Beth was entertaining. They made me laugh more times than I can count but there were also some tears shed.
I have the next book on my Kindle ready to read and I cannot wait to dive in.
The Predator Series continues with Wildfire Knockout. This novella is a quick read and oh so good! Beth and Scott finally become friends, but the real question is can they become more. Finding the one can be easy, healing is the hard part.
This author continues to bring us into her world, where the tough, sexy women don't really need rescuing, but the helpful, sexy men sure don't hurt. This story was easy to read just like the first two before it and since this is book three in the series, it must be read in order.
