FableLands: Kayla, Briana and Ciro

Rate this book
There are legends of heroes, but were they born or created? Is there a spirit that connects the heroes of the past to the next generation?
In these three stories, you start to explore the journey of such heroes. Each Arc is different. What makes a hero - talent, intelligence or strength? No, it is a choice to become one.

Captured and bound in a dark room, separated from the rest of the Arcs. Even though each of the heroes is alone, their connection to the FableLands is faint but still there.

Each has a unique way telling the story, Kayla: Genius is a daydreamer, always thinking the impossible.
Briana: Knight is the leader and beacon of honour and hope.
Ciro: Founder, twin to Kayla is the inventor, strategist; analytical, a perfectionist.

Will each of them find a way to escape? Find out in Interrogation.

This is a unique and intriguing series... Each character has there own short story installment where we learn about their individual personalities, their strengths, and about their own personal arch.
The arcs were confusing for me at first, but as I got more familiar with the concept, confusion was transformed into fascination. Samuel Colbran has an amazing imagination, and this could quite possibly be the introduction to a new wold of superheroes, only more grounded.

Great book, and I loved the unique setting and narrative of the story. The author tells you just enough about the three main protagonists to really draw you in, and then leaves you wondering what on earth is going to happen next. For me, I really connected with the strong bonds between the friends, despite the negative influences around them. Well done Samuel, I'm so glad I have already pre-ordered your next book, Lake Merrin.

Sam Colbran has created an intriguing concept with the FableLands. A series of short stories, each story is from a different view point, providing different insights and perspectives.
I was engaged with each character, invested in what happens to them and their unique talents. I am looking forward to reading more of this series and finding out how it all comes together.

Great story. Loved the description of Kayla's powers and the way the tension built, and the use of second person perspective. Looking forward to reading more about Kayla and the other arcs.

I found I was reading this book faster and faster. Great short story - held me right to the end. Could this be a prelim to a novel?

I enjoyed Briana: Knight (Fablelands#2). A bit darker than 'Kayla' - The dialogue and interplay between the characters drew me into the story. Waiting for the next one!

What an exciting tale. I read this short story from start to finish in one go, as I sat on the edge of my seat. My only disappointment was that it ended so quickly. I can't wait for the next tale in this series.

I have enjoyed this series more and more with each book! Probably because I am getting more familiar with the characters as well as the potentials of the arcs. I loved, loved, loved the gun scene. Won't be a spoiler and give too much detail but it was graphic and very captivating! Also found the monster scene interesting.

An intriguing novel. At first, I found it strange having the novel from the three points of view: first, second and third. But it actually added more depth to the story through these formats. The characters were diverse and the concept behind Fablelands and the Arcs was well told for the size of the book. I'd quite like to know more behind the world Ciro and Kayla founded so maybe I'll check out the second Interrogation novel to unravel the rest of the story.

I did find quite a few grammatical errors and missing words in sentences, which did become more noticeable towards the end of the novel. The world building and descriptions could have been fleshed out a bit more as there was a simplicity to the scenes.

Overall, well worth a read if you need a quick fix of fantasy.

I am a sci-fi writer and this genre often raises questions about thought-provoking topics.

This book and part two FableLands: Sammy, Jamila and James both raise many questions.
In most cases, the chapter begins with a picture of the character and clue as to their nature but that's all. Why isn't there a preface explaining the connection the children have with each other?
Why are these children creating a connection with their Arcs to beings who are warriors?
Why are they fighting the demons from this angelic celestial plane?
Why have they been captured by these demons and suffering brutal and violent interrogations?
What is the significance of FableLands?
Why does the first book have another story Lake Merrin Journal of an Adventurer; Book One at the end?

I will do a full review and post it to my blog, but, suffice to say I think these books are a leverage for Sam Colbran to go to Comic-Con or any similar venue and sell books. I hope his other offerings are of a higher standard but I doubt I'll be reading them.
