The Skinny: An awesome lookback in time to how we thought the atomic age and nuclear power would unfold.
The Good: First off, it is just straight up cool to have a book from 1945 in your hands. The limited wartime materials give this a rare pulp feel. While this is a pocketbook, it is chock full of information ranging from detailed scientific explanations to philosophical debates among scientists and politicians. Think about how equally fascinating and intimidating it was to hear about the atomic bomb on the radio as a US citizen in August 1945. This little book would have answered all the questions you had at the time (as it was designed to!). Many parts of the book had spot on predictions and many were unfortunately way off. Either way, it is truly enjoyable to get into the minds of people 80 years ago about such a milestone in human civilization.
The Bad: The organization could have been way better, it was a slog at times and no consistent flow that made the pages fly by.
