Desil and a few allies must race to obtain two rare ingredients that could create a swing of power strong enough to end the burgeoning war. Hundreds have already perished in battle, and thousands more are likely to die, pitting time against Desil and his allies. But they aren’t the only ones scrambling to collect these ingredients in forgotten corners of the world. One is a king desperate for more power with an entire army at his disposal. The other contender remains a mystery, though his abilities are so vast that he seems capable of penetrating Desil’s dreams even from across the continent. Having never met the man, Desil can only wonder what else he’s ultimately capable of, and what he might do with the unprecedented power he would acquire if he beats Desil’s allies to the ingredients.
Disappointed at how Desil has still not learned how to protect himself from Psycics and other magic, also how he gets scared when he's in the other realm and he runs away from there instead of learning how to control it. He doesn't get much scared when he's fighting with sword but magic attack he can't handle. He's a mage so he should fight with magic but that doesn't happen often, he should master his magic more. He seems inept sometimes and scared and cowerdly. I hope he improves otherwise i'm off the series.
Hands down, its a must read - has me craving the next!
This is such an awesome series. Can't wait til the 3rd (and gasp!... Final) boo to come out. I love how the series continues on from a future perspective of the same lovable characters. Its like seeing old friends again. This book is just as exciting as the first. As well as being action packed like the previous different series's. I felt that the characters and their situations were well thought out and "real". Their thoughts, feelings, and actions were that of what I might find were it me. The story moves right along and fully swept me up within it. It will be a sad sad thing if this next book is truly the last of this world. I will greatly miss it.
I listened to this as an excellently voiced audiobook (Audible). The writing was just as consistent and good as the first book, but the plot felt lacking in memorable moments or progression.
It works serviceably and solidly for the over all plot, and, like the first it feel like a DnD adventure. But a lot of the same strategic moves by characters and enemies were repeated. Not in a bad way, more like a realistic way, but that can be a bit boring.
I'm now listening to the next book, and the whole story is going along strong.
Very glad I found this series after the recent cliche books I'd endured! Thank you author and Audible, I don't have time to read but I can listen while driving!
Desil and his friends are home, mourning the loss of his father once again. but now they have an answer to the explosion mixture found on the island. however it seems that others do as well and the wild search for the components has begun. to compound the problem, they did not return from the island alone
Again the characters personality wise are not bad but... The logic applied to most things.. It just doesn't mesh for me. I think I could enjoy B.T. Narro co writing where he had input on characters but I dont think his solo works are for me. The world building feels too shallow, hollow even, and the logic in it really does just not work for me.
Second book was a bit over worded. A lot of character internalizing about what was happening. The middle of the book dragged some and lost its pace. Over all a good young adult read. Again not much explaining about the MC talant and all efforts seem to repeat failure. Bit of a mess in that regard.
I've read this entire series by B.T. Narro. I truly enjoy each book. I can't believe there's only 1 book left. The Akorell Break needs a bit of editing but other than that it has the continuous flow of adventure that sucks you into the characters lives.
I have read several other books by the author and have enjoyed them all. The characters are identifiable and the world is well described that they live in. I recommend the books highly for a fun light read.
This book is awesome. It has adventure and action all through the story. Desil continues to find out where he belongs and what his role is. You won’t be disappointed in reading this book.
Well done mr. Narro. Another great read and fun story. I enjoy the opportunity to attempt to unravel where we are going, how we are getting there, and what the end result will be.
Old and new beloved characters, come together in a fast paced journey full of twists and turns. So many emotions reading this one! Can't wait to read the next.
