Reasonable Doubts is my favourite Kyra Lennon book to date.
I've had the paperback for a few weeks and let me tell you I was sitting on a treat. I actually listened to this book, rather than read it. My first audiobook and it totally added to the experience.

Darcy wants to right a wrong. Her best friend is in jail for a crime he didn't commit. She's determined to find a way to get him out. All she has to do is work out how the cops got the wrong man. Her plan isn't stellar but it's worth a shot. Showing a man a bit of attention could open the door to a corrupt system. The problem is she has underestimated Finn.

Darcy is a beautiful woman and any man would be a fool to not notice her. Finn likes to think he's a good cop. He puts in the hours and wants to find the bad guys. When Darcy enters his space he cannot help himself. A taste of a woman like that could set his soul on fire. She's playing a dangerous game.

Two people both with a rough past want to undercover the truth and may just find something else along the way.

It's simple I Loved it! Henry Gray had the perfect voice for the beautifully crafted book. It's high praise from me. I liked both leading characters and the story had me hooked to the last sentence.

I went in blind and I wasn't prepared for this storyline. This is a fast paced story about Darcy and the mission she undertakes to prove that her best friend is innocent of his wife's murder.
I loved the building relationship with Darcy and Finn and there were lots of moments I didn't see coming. I'm hoping this isn't the last I see of these charaters

Reviewing on behalf of Amo & Sarah's Book Club.

OMG - where do I begin with this review?! Imagine being in the care system from a very young age and being pushed from pillar to post to the extent that you feel unwanted and unloved...until you meet someone who you learn to trust and love and that person becomes your best friend. Then imagine having that person ripped away from you and thrown into prison when they are wrongly accused of the murder of their wife. Would you walk away or would you do whatever it takes to make sure that they are released from prison and the real killer is found? This is the heartbreaking scenario that Darcy Ryan has to contend with when her best friend Matteo Torres is wrongly convicted of the murder of his wife and is sent to prison.

During this time, Darcy is completely lost and alone in the world as the one person she could truly rely on is no longer there. She can't sleep at night as she worries so much about Matteo being in prison, when he shouldn't be. Darcy makes it her mission to find the real murderer so that ultimately Matteo can be released.

During her mission, she tries to get a confession out of Detective Finn Drake; she sets up a coincidental meeting in a bar with Finn and is willing to do anything to get a confession from him. However, it soon becomes apparent that she has her suspicions set on the wrong person and both Darcy and Finn are caught up in something so dangerous that it almost costs them their lives when they find that the corruption is actually higher up and far more embedded in the police force.

I won't give the outcome of the story as I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but I will say that Darcy and Finn get really close. Their apparent attraction to each other soon blossoms into romance and dare she admit, but Darcy may even be falling in love.

This is such a satisfying read and is beautifully written. There are highs and lows, twists and turns, but the story never failed to disappoint me. I absolutely loved it - to the point that I couldn't put it down! I just had to know what was going to happen next. I would definately recommend this as a great book to curl up with and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did!

Have no doubt this book will pull you in !! Gripping and intense, I couldn't put it down. An unexpected hero, twists and turns, tears and smiles(at times even as I'm still trying to wipe the tears away!) - this had them all. Matteo Torres was convicted or murdering his wife but best friend Darcy vows to prove his innocence and in doing so is prepared to put her life on the line.. the friendship is clear from the start and the first chapter had me hooked, I wanted to know more, so many questions I needed answered!

I felt real connection to these characters -
"I’d felt loved and loved people in return, and they’d sent me back to my home full of pain and anger. In the pit of my stomach, I felt the physical sensation of fear, as if I’d never left that room or that house." - made my heart break for the little girl that Darcy once was. I rooted for her to be able to open up to Finn and for him to be worthy of that trust.
Finn Drake - now, he was something else! I loved the way the author brought him in as the bad cop, and boy was he a douche; arrogant and up his own arse and even from the initial description not the attractive hero at all ! But a gravelly voice can do a lot to a woman haha!
I'm struggling to say much else without giving away the storyline so I'm going to leave it to say that if this indeed going to be a series which seems to be indicated then I can't wait to read more, because this has left me in no reasonable doubt as to where this author has placed herself in my reading list ! An exciting start to the series so a definite 'must read' for me!!
My tears began to fall again, because I knew it took a lot for Matteo to do that." and my tears began to fall again.. damn you Kyra Lennon lol
To get such a connection in a novella, with some scenes that were so raw I had tears in my eyes throughout, takes some doing!
Thank you to the author for trusting me with an arc of your story, provided in exchange for an honest review.

Wow!!!
This for me was such a gripping and intense action packed story, it was totally nothing like I'd expect to find in a novella of this size.

The story is about Darcy Ryan a stubborn hothead with a dark backstory of her own who is trying to find proof that her close and only friend Matteo Torres is innocent of murdering his wife and to get him freed from prison. She decides to try and seduce Fin Drake a cop who was part of the team who helped to convict Matteo of the crime as she has no other idea how to help him. Fin Drake is so totally a hot and sexy cop but he's certainly not as dumb as Darcy thinks he is. He too has more to him than meets the eye and isn't all that you might think he is.

Together they are the perfect combination of enemies to lovers and opposites attract, they are a powder keg just waiting to explode! with their passion for finding out the truth and the sparks that they feel going on between them, it's just a matter of time before they eventually set it alight.

The plot of the story had my heart racing and my mind was buzzing with the need to know how it would all end. I read this in one sitting as I was so gripped and couldn't put it down. I didn't think that so much plot with it's many twists and turns could be put into a story of this size but Kyra Lennon has done a brilliant job of making so much fit into this brilliant little book.
This for me was a well deserved 5 Star read!

Good!

With any Kyra Lennon books you just know that you're going to get a well written story. This was no different. In fact, I'd go as far as saying this has been her best book to date. I loved the story, I loved the characters. I loved it all.
It is a short book, and I'm not a huge novella fan, but this was perfect! The length was exactly right for the story. There isn't one thing I could say I didn't like, or I would have changed.

Well done, Kyra!

Darcy has had a messed up start to life, but the one person who has seen her through the majority of it, is best friend Matteo. So when he's incarcerated for a crime everyone thinks he's guilty of, she knows she has to be the one to prove his innocence...

Excerpt:
Each tick was another second Matteo was behind bars for no reason. Each minute was another sixty seconds he sat inside a cold, empty cell. Each hour was another sixty minutes of his life wasted.

But accepting or even asking for help, is something that Darcy isn't used to. Having survived on her own so well, for so long, she doesn't trust easily. Finn was about to find that out!

Excerpt:
I may never have been the little girl who dreamed of finding her Prince Charming and skipping off into the sunset - that dream was for kids with happy childhoods - but I'd expected that, one day, life would even out....things would be better.

Accepting that what you know about someone, as being completely wrong is difficult. Mixed with the lies, deceit and cheating, this made for a bumpy ride. But one I highly recommend.

This was a a heart in your mouth kind of story. Being dual perspective between both Finn and Darcy, you get a good grasp of the characters without being overloaded. The story was fast paced, and always kept my interest. I real,y enjoyed this story and is my first full review for this lovely lady despite having her books on my TBR list for such a long time. She truly didn't disappoint.

Thanks to Kyra Lennon for providing an ARC of this novella for me to read in exchange for a review. I love Kyra Lennon's work, and this novella was no exception. This story had everything I like in a read - steamy romance, suspense, conflicted characters overcoming their woes to find each other, and bad language. Yep, I love swearing - I don't apologise for that at all.

I believe this is going to be a series, however it can still be read as a stand-alone work. There is one main thing that's unresolved for me and that's what is going to happen with the higher up cop in the force who is corrupt. Is that going to be where the story goes with the next two novellas?

At first I wasn't sure if I actually found the hero attractive, but I guess a low, gravelly voice can be pretty enticing, so I can sympathise with Darcy falling fast. This novella had a "happy ending", but I'm curious where the story will go from here in follow-up novellas.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

This is the first book I've read by Kyra Lennon. The blurb really drew me in and I'm glad it did. I loved the characters and the whole story. It's very fast paced but it works for this story. Darcy and Finn both have a lot of pain in their past which affects their relationships in the present. They're kind of thrown together but their relationship just works. The ending is something I didn't really see coming. I would definitely read more books by this author.

Darcy Ryan is out to prove her best friend Matteo didn't kill his wife. She's willing to risk everything, and does so by trying to seduce a detective for information. Yet Darcy doesn't expect to fall for Finn Drake. He isn't the bad cop she thought he was, but she doesn't know who to trust. She started out playing a game with him, could he be playing one with her?

A wonderfully suspenseful and fast-paced romantic thriller. Darcy might have some trouble trusting people, but once they earn it, she's fiercely loyal. I love that her best friend is a guy, and there's nothing romantic about it. We don't see this often enough in books. The case takes many twists and turns, and I really felt Darcy's desperation. Finn is a fantastic and steamy surprise. He's exactly what Darcy needs, even though she doesn't want to believe it.

This book will hook you right from the beginning and have you on the edge of your seat many times. I can't wait to read more from Kyra Lennon.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I thought that the story itself was different to most other crime books which meant that it was kept intriguing and interesting throughout. The main character Darcy was likeable, feisty, loyal and willing to take risks for her friend, her family. Drake came across exactly how he was written, self assured but with a hidden depth that was a compelling reveal to his character. All in all this was a quick easy read that held my interest. Would highly recommend it to other people who enjoy a good crime novel

I've said it before and I'll say it again - novellas can be tricky things to get right.  It can be difficult to condense all the necessary details and still allow the story to flow properly, for the character connections to develop organically.

However, I think that the author has done a decent job with this one.  Told in dual POV, the back story is released in increments without being intrusive.  The character connection is tangible and the narrative is fast paced and engaging.

An enjoyable, quick diversion.

This is the first book of this author that I have read and I wasn't disappointed. This story had me gripped from the start. It was intense and action packed, fast paced and the story just flowed. I loved the characters and I felt their chemistry. There are a few twists and turns to this plot which I never saw coming and I never k ew what was coming next. I cant wait to read more from this author.

I enjoyed reading this book. I was surprised by the turn of events in what happened in the book. I feel like the author could have maybe wrote the book a little bit longer and taken Darcy and Finn's story a little bit further. I know that the whole story was about Darcy getting Matteo out of Jail and doing whatever it took and in end falling for Finn. But I feel afterwards they could have gone alittle bit more into what happens for her and Finn possibly. Overall I really enjoyed the story.

This story is a fast paced, action packed read with plot twist and turns you don’t see coming. It is written in the POV of both the male (Finn Drake) and female (Darcy Ryan) characters so you are in both their heads. I loved the chemistry of the main characters from the very beginning. This was the first I’ve read of this author, but I’ll most definitely be reading more from her.

I went in to this book not knowing what it was about and it was amazing.
thecstiryoine is fast-paced, Darcy is going to do whatever it takes to get her best friend out of jail, even if it means seducing a bent cop...
Darcy and Finn quickly realise they both have issues but decide to give it a go when they realise life is short and anything can happen

First time read of this author. What a great start too. Loved the story line and the characters, a quick and easy read. I would of liked a bit more to the story, so much could of been done with it, but having said that, that's where it stood out too. Definitely going to read more from Kyra.

What can I say about Reasonable Doubts that won't spoil your enjoyment of finding things out in your own time? That's a hard one. There are so many things I *could* say, because I really need someone to talk to about how awesome this story is. I got to BETA read this story and was blown away. In short, it's incredible.

Darcy is the only one that believes her best friend, Matteo, innocent in the murder of the woman he loved more than life itself. She'll stop at nothing to see him walk out of prison a free man, his conviction overturned. She needs information and she needs it fast. But where to start?

Finn knows things don't make sense but he doesn't know how to connect the dots. He's out of his depth. Until the night Darcy walks into the bar.
There's a connection between the two. But Darcy is only working him for information. Isn't she? The attraction between them can't happen. Darcy can't and won't allow anything or anyone to stand in the way of her getting what she wants. She's not to be tempted or swayed by him. She can't allow herself to be happy when she is the only person that can see Matteo freed. Being the only person that believes in him means there's nobody else she can rely on to be of any help.

The 'will they, won't they?' element of this story keeps you turning the pages, desperate to find out if the attraction can be denied. But the real page turning element of this story is Matteo. There's a need to know what the hell is going on. Whether he killed his wife or someone has set him up. And if someone set him up, who was it and why? Will they be discovered? Will Matteo be left to rot in a cell for the rest of his life?
All these questions plagued my mind and had me on a knife edge until I had all the answers.

I was consumed by a need so strong. A need for knowledge. A need for justice. A need for Darcy to allow herself to explore what could be between her and Finn.
I loved everything about this story. The twists and turns, the laughs, the tears... oh so many tears. So many emotions pulled from within me. I had to finish this story in one sitting. I couldn't go anywhere, do anything until I had the final piece of the puzzle.

Kyra Lennon really knows how to write an incredible story with believable, almost tangible characters with feelings that pull you in and threaten to consume you. You lose all sense of direction, don't know down from up, left from right... it's fair to say she screws with your head. But in a good way. A seriously good way.

A murder mystery. I really enjoyed it and was filled with anticipation as the plot progressed, I wanted to know who had framed Darcy's best friend as much as she did.

Matteo Torres was convicted or murdering his wife, he's innocent but all the evidence is pointed to the scorned husband and his best friend Darcy vows to prove his innocence and in doing so is prepared to put her life on the line by trying to get close to one of the investigators on the case who she thinks is corrupt and had a hand in putting her friend behind bars.

From the moment Darcy sets off on her miss Marple investigation journey, even her relationship with the Detective Finn takes a surprising turn and the hero becomes someone she believed to be the villain but who did it?.

Reasonable doubts is a gripping story full of twists and turns, Its a page turner with an unpredictable plot.

I listened to Reasonable Doubts in audio and I have to say this is the first audio I have listened to where the whole book is narrated by a man. I liked it. The narrator didn't try and make himself sound like a woman with Darcy's pov which can be annoying when a male narrator does that but he softened his tone.

I am an avid audiobook reader, listening to hundreds of books a year, so I am critical of narrators since they can make or break when a great book goes to audio. I prefer books with multiple narrators, so there is less chance of character voice confusion, and voices that are 'easy on the ears'. The narrators in this book has a great voice for male characters, but I did not care for the female one. It just wasn't 'female enough' for me. That said, his voice overall was very easy on the ears and the story itself was enough to keep me listening, and I say that very seldom since I am one that will return a book because of a bad narrator.

Next is the story. I am not one to give a lot of specific story details since I feel you should read the story for that, and in this case, you won't be disappointed. This book has great characters that you want to keep listening to see how they develop. The storyline was captivating and kept me guessing, which also doesn't happen very often. I am looking forward to listening to more of her books!

I received a free review copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Audio book review
This is my first listen for both the author and narrator. This author wrote a story that will grab your attention, it’s full of faith for you to have for a new person. It is fast pace full of action and mystery .
Heroine is Darcy.
Darcy wonders how Matteo was convicted for a crime he didn’t commit and landed in jail . The crime is murder , murdering his wife . Darcy has a plan , cosy up to the policeman that put Matteo in jail. Finn is the policeman that arrested Matteo . Darcy needs to get cosy with Fin and see how he got the evidence. Fin is a dirty cop , so why did he want to see Matteo in jail .

Henry Gray voice is strong , smooth and clear. First time I heard him
