Book 4: Remember Me

He has a second chance at love—but will he make the same mistake all over again?

New Zealand Army soldier Hamish McIntyre’s returning home from war, and he’s half the man he used to be. In his eyes, anyway. He’s lost the lower half of his right leg, and the bomb also knocked out his memories of the last ten years. When he returns home, his brother takes him to their beach house on the west coast of New Zealand to recuperate, hoping the peace and quiet will help him heal.

Hamish can remember only one name—Rose. At the beach house, he finally meets the girl his brother tells him he was in love with—and broke up with—before he returned to Afghanistan.

Rose still loves Hamish, and finds herself falling in love all over again as she tells him about their previous relationship. To Hamish, the attraction is brand new, but his body seems to remember her, even if his mind doesn’t. Before long, they’re back where they started—in love and pulled in opposite directions by his life in the military.

Once again, Hamish has to choose between Rose and the Army. What decision will he make this time?

I really enjoyed this book. It was sweet, emotional & although it deals with some serious matters (like war, memory loss and leg injury), it never felt lugubrious. I closed it with a smile on my face knowing that despite all the things Rose & Hamish went through, there will be a HEA.

That was... cute
Cute heroine, cute hero, cute family, cute dog. Cute romance, cute love scenes, cute ending.

Despite the rather serious subject, it was a light, short standalone novella that left me smiling.

What you should know going in: 'Remember Me' is by Serenity Woods. It's a novella that is 74 pages in length.

New Zealand Army soldier Hamish McIntyre is returning home from war injured. He lost the lower half of his right leg and his memory of the last ten years. The only thing he remembers is the name Rose. He feels he's half a man since his amputation and deals with a lot of negative feelings of unworthiness and guilt.

Upon his return his brother takes him to their beach house to relax, heal, and deal with what happened. Shortly after their arrival he and his brother take a walk on the beach and it is there he sees Rose. He senses it is her but doesn't remember. All he really knows is what his bother told him. Hamish was in love with Rose but lost her before he returned to Afghanistan. Rose wants to help him piece their brief relationship back together, filling in his missing memory and help him to understand.

Hamish is shocked to find out he had asked Rose to marry him. Rose was a wonderful character and has good reasons for turning down the soldiers proposal.

This is a good read that I enjoyed. I definitely recommend it!

This was actually a novella, not a book, so I can't count it on my challenge. But it was written by a New Zealander, so the slang/word usage was pretty fun to read. As for the story, soldier has amnesia (and lost a leg), goes home to girl who wouldn't marry him because she didn't want to live the military life. Which... not a question anymore, so they get back together, just to find out that he'd put in his release papers and bought a ring before being blown up, so he was leaving the military for her, anyhow. Happily ever after, the end. It passed an hour... but wasn't anything special.

Good story but short, would have loved to have more of a story to it. Not sure if this was meant to be a short story or excerpt from the full story, but I would love a longer version!

I really enjoyed this book but wish she'd written it as a full-length novel - so much potential to flesh out the characters!

Remember Me

This was a fast read. They met while he was on leave from active duty, army. Fell in love. But she refused to commit to him. Her fear of his life style. She had grown up with a parent who was in the army. He left and while gone was injured. Now back will he be able to remember why they didn't stay together? And can they continue with the romance?

Memorable

Losing his memory but his body remembered her. Hamish and Rose was a lovely story you'll enjoy as a reminder that no matter what your mind says, the heart and body know the truth.

Rose and Hamish

He was returning from Afghanistan. A bomb had taken his leg just above his knee and his memories of the last 10 to 15 years. The only thing he had was a name Rose at floated through but directly long enough to figure it out.
Great story one of her bests

Remember Me, book 4 standalones

The cover is totally different on Goodreads than what I actually read. My least favorite of the stand alone series. Wasn’t much substance to the book or characters.

So Romantic!
A second chances story. Hamish and Rose broke up 6 months previously but meet again unexpectedly on a beach. However, Hamish cannot remember the last fifteen years of his life - can they make it work this time? Loved it -highly recommended.

This book is not part of a series.

A second chance at love. Six months ago, Rose refused Hamish’s proposal because she would never marry a man in the Army. She had grown up moving from base to base and wanted nothing to do with that lifestyle. Now he has returned from Afghanistan as a disabled vet. He must decide between returning to a desk job with the Army and taking a chance with a woman he doesn’t even remember due to the amnesia caused by the bomb that also took half of his leg. What will he decide?

This was what I call a soft read. It is romantic and passionate. The kind of read that at the end you just feel like you have to say “awwww” right out loud (and I did). Though a shorter story, the characters, setting, and story are all fully-developed and nothing feels overly rushed or missing.

This was the first book I have read from Ms. Woods. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from her. I’ve already picked up two more stories and will be reading them soon.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed the story very much. It is the story of Hamish, a soldier who has been terribly injured in an explosion caused by a suicide bomber when on duty as a soldier in Afghanistan. Apart from his bodily injuries he has lost all memory of the last ten years of his life; but the name Rose strikes a chord within him, he knows it is important but does not know why.
He arrives home from a long stay in hospital, and stays in the family owned beach house with his fireman brother Eamon, to recuperate in peace and quiet; and here he meets Rose on the beach. Over the next few days Rose explains their history, and they gradually reconnect. The ending is quite poignant. It is a gentle romance, and makes you aware of some of the issues experienced by war veterans who come home having been badly injured, their career over, and possibly an uncertain future ahead of them.
I think the story could have been longer and told the readers a little more about Hamish's recuperation process, hence the four stars. It is an enjoyable read, perfect for a lazy afternoon.

Now this is a cute story. Hamish has returned from being in the Army due to injury. He’s not only lost a leg, but he’s also lost a lot of his memory. Going home, gives him the time he needs to recover maybe not just his memory but to figure out what he’s going to do.
When Rose hears that Hamish is back in town, she has to go see him. The last time they saw each other, it was heartbreaking for them both. She’ll have to tell him their story and see if there is any love left or if it will trigger his memory of her.
Will Hamish remember the time he had with Rose or will they be able to reignite the love they once shared? This is a worthwhile read for anyone seeking some romance and love. This is well written as well.

Hamish comes home from Afghanistan with half of his right leg and most of his adult memory gone. He can remember his mom, dad and brother and nothing else. Well, except for the name Rose. When he asks his family who she is they tell him that he meet her while he was on leave and they were inseperable until Hamish had to leave for Afghanistan when they ended things. They can't tell him what happened with the relationship or with Rose. But Hamish has a secret and he needs to know happened.

I found this story so sweet and romantic. Its only about 70 pgs long but well worth the read.

It was a short novel, but I didn't mind.Good read, with so much nostalgia of the romance Rose and Hamish had before he lost his memory after serving sometime in the war.Funny thing he seemed to remember was her,but not the relationship he had with her, everything post war he couldn't remember.Serenity Woods mad the book worth reading.Light read, easy and fun.

Great read , loved how even though Rose gave up Hamish because she didn't want the Army life, she never backed down when he came home after his accident, she also gave him the opportunity to decide on his own with what had happened between them. Loved how she finally realized she could live without him.

A quick, sweet story about a second chance at love. While this worked as a novella, our characters Hamish and Rose could easily flush out a full-length novel.
I liked how Rose and Hamish interacted in his post-injury life. It seemed realistic and I appreciated how there wasn't this dragging turmoil of pity between them.

(May) No idea when I got this, must have been a freebie. It's incredibly short - I read it during lunch! Sweet second-chance type of story about a damaged soldier returning from war minus a leg and his memories, and the girl he'd loved and lost before he returned to war. Cute dog!

This was such a good short story about Hamish and Rose. It was interesting watching Rose explain to Hamish what happened and to see his reaction. Rose was so great with Hamish when he returned. These two were such a cute couple.
