"Yes, I am a man known for fucking. I love women, all different types. I love the way it feels when I’m pounding into them. I love hearing them scream my name but most of all I love when they go home.” Is how CEO of Maxwell Publishing, Charles Maxwell, thinks. He’s never had a woman turn him down. That’s until he meets Samantha Clarkson. Samantha Clarkson is a woman who's running from her past. She keeps running until she runs right into Charles Maxwell. She does everything she can to stick to the first lesson she learned; men can't be trusted. Unfortunately, Charles isn't your normal man.
This is probably one of the most challenged books I've read, ever. There are so many grammatical/spelling errors and switches in tense (past &present). My first question, did anyone read this book prior to releasing it? Secondly, did anyone realize that spell check does not correct words that are spelled correctly but are used out of context? I was disappointed in the writing but could help this writer by proofreading the work prior to release. The actual story is very strong and interesting, hence 3 stars rather than 1.
Slow-moving story that had the potential to be great with mature themes and foreshadowing of things to come. Overly simple prose that rang false as read for the hero. Lots of grammatical errors. Nothing really happens in this first book that should have called for an entire part 1. I had difficulty reaching the end of the book.
Not a fan of cliffhangers, but with that said, at least with this book, all of the series is available to read. The question is, will I continue with it? Verdict is still out with that one. I think this was a decent effort by T.M. Pigatt, but as others have said, there are a lot of grammatical errors and the book is also in desperate need of an editor. The writing isn't spectacular but the story has some interesting things about it. I am just not in love with the premise of it. It's very basic. I also don't feel any chemistry between Charles and Sam (Claire). There is just a corny factor to how they are getting together. Just not really feeling it. I am also going to take off another star for making the heroine a Black woman with BLUE EYES. Give it a rest with that IR authors! I almost stopped reading it when I got to that description, I am serious lol It was explained that her mom was biracial, but still, it's just ughh with the blue eyed (green-eyed) Black women.
Anyway, again, this was an okay read. I say that because I actually did finish it but it does leave off with a cliffhanger, like I said. It's going to be up to the reader if they feel the story is worth continuing. As for me, I'm not too sure.
Samantha aka Clair has secrets she is hiding. She is falling for her boss Charles. He is falling for her too. I think she needs to tell him what is going on so he can help her. I want to know what secrets Jackie is hiding. Can't wait to read book 2.
Fantastic read ! The book was great. The storyline was realistic and well written. The characters were strong and held their parts quite well. I hope part 2 is as good!
This was my first read by this author. I liked the characters and the storyline. Samantha has a troubled past that only Jackie knows about. Charles wants to help her overcome. He is patient, but is dealing with the crazy chick Lisa and his father. The truth comes out but there is a cliffhanger. Overall good read, but needs some editing. Looking forward to reading part 2.
Samantha is skittish and unknown to her new employer, a survivor of spousal abuse. Charles is her new boss, a man who can have any woman he wants but he is intrigued by Samantha, his new personal assistant. Sam is living incognito so her jailed ex can't find her. Charles has a harpy who won't take no for an answer and of course she hates Samantha because she knows Charles is falling for Sam. Sam will eventually have to tell Charles about her past but unfortunately it won't be in this book. I hope there will be a conclusion to this story.
Well I didn't intend to but I read this tale in one take. I kept putting it down but my insomnia was in full bloom so I kept picking it back up. Lots of ugliness here..most of the characters; Charles Dad..Samanthas' ex..that wench Lisa and her father to name a few. Manipulative, sneaky, rascist, abusive, snobbish etc...You want to be excited for the budding romance but you can't. Samantha refusing to get the help she needs and deal with her emotions is depressing and frustrating. I love how patient Charles is with her but you can't help someone who doesn't want it. I get the damage that comes from abuse...know about how that type of dysfunction effects. I'm very interested to see how this plays out in the next installment. I'm not sure if this story needed to be stretched out like it is. But I do give kudos on showing the not so physical effects of abuse. A little too long but overall a decent story worth reading.
Good Storyline This is my first book by this Author, I thought the storyline was good. I liked the chemistry between the two main characters. They had a few grammar issues but I was able to figure it out. I can't wait to see what happens next and her friend Jackie 3.5 star
I never thought I would finish this story so fast. Now I'm looking forward to the next book in this series. So much kindness and sexual attraction. Where's it lead?
I truly love this book. The Main characters are so HOT, I hope she gives him a chance . I also hope she beat the CRAP out of Lisa and old boy beat the Shit out of Dan
