“A righteous fire burns all.”
“Sometimes there can’t be salvation without the shedding of blood.”
Trepidant! A major feat taken by the blood runners to defeat the dictator of New Chicago. An incredible and outstanding demonstration of survival instinct, preservation, goodness and loss, but also of our lower and basic instincts of selfishness, depravity, evilness and blood thirst side of humanity. The characterization has been excellent, the point of view from both sides-good and evil- a profound in-depth of the story from both fronts. An accomplished and apt ending to the series, this has been an amazing insight of all kinds of emotions and actions. A true page turner, from beginning to end! I highly recommend this series!

Requiem - a review by Rosemary Kenny

Led by Longman - a pseudo-messianic leader - the inhabitants of New Chicago in post-apocalyptic America, live under his brutal regime behind a protective wall in a central refuge for the elite called the Codex Building, in George Mahaffey, Justin Sloan and Jamie Hawke's excellent third novel in the Blood Runners series.
Several threads and themes are woven most skilfully together as rebels called Mudders plan to rescue two of their leading female fighters, captured by Longman's henchmen, known as Reapers. In another theme a traitor desperate to reunite with his son - also one of Longman's many prisoners, as the blood-price for betraying the rebels and leading them to certain death in Longman's deadly trap. Finally former Reaper-turned-rebel Marisol and her timid, (but also enhanced like Marisol) is Elias. He fears the dreadful retribution he's sure Longman will inflict on the rebels, who are barely armed by comparison - especially now Longman has broken into a former Air Force nuclear silo base to grasp not only the warhead but the activation codes to destroy the whole city and its surrounds, in the unlikely event he may be beaten...oh and not forgetting the huge swathes of Threshers - cannibalistic zombies that are crazed with blood-lust!
Who will triumph - and will the rest of humanity fall prey to the megalomaniac's delusions of supremacy if it's not the rebels? Read the whole series to find out!

Typically I read nonfiction, history. When I read fiction I’m not big on fantasy or science fiction. That said I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It took me about 2 1/2 days to read it. Although it was very dark, it moved at a fast pace and I felt it was well written. George, great job!

The trilogy is like a really gooey baked lasagna. layers upon layers of death and destruction. The layers however don't stop. Just when you think you hit the bottom more layers appear. Scary!

Requiem is the intense final chapter of the Blood Runners trilogy. This entertaining series has tons of action and will keep the readers on their toes. I strongly recommend reading the first two books before reading this one.

I read the original release of this book, and I cannot comment on any changes that were made for the re-release.

Things are coming to a head as everything converges on New Chicago and Longman gets closer to his final plan. A satisfying comclusion although perhaps what you might not expect and a wonderful listen.
