The Tower. The Hanged Man. The Fool.

Bill and Millie Chiavo are at a crossroads. Just coming into their magic, the twins must choose their fate. Do they take the easy path? Or protect their friends and loved ones?

Wisdom comes at a cost; its magical power changes everything.

It's 1929 at the height of Prohibition in Plymouth, Massachusetts. The stock market crashes, leaving the Chiavos in the poor house. Uncle Finn's Sight tipped him off but he kept it all to himself.

Finn's got money, powers, and connections with Boston to cement his victory. However, the Italian-run Speakeasy draws new players from the deck to oppose him. Magic, monsters, and mobsters will clash in this small town but the outcome is unclear.

How will Bill and Millie defy a man who sees the future?

A brilliant follow-up to the first book A Change In Crime. This one follows a different sort of paranormal ability and takes place in a different town but not too far away. With each of the young teenage children in a group of families who have various mental abilities, the teenagers must decide how to navigate their future. It should be noted that it takes place in an AU version of the late 1920's and with two different mob families trying to muscle their way into town. At the centre of it all our the teenagers who have to decide which side they'll take, if any, and how these events will change their families and themselves.

There are layers off complexity to all the characters and the plot, making ti immensely enjoyable. Among some of the highlights are how they respond to learning who their parents have arranged for them to marry, their abilities growing in scope, and the toll that each different ability takes. Adding to it all, both forces coming into town also have abilities and very different motives for being there.

The book takes place mostly concurrently with Book One up until the fourth quarter where the events from it spill over into this one. It leads to a page-turning final confrontation where years of secrets come to the forefront and everyone must do everything they ca to achieve their goals.

What do you do to achieve your dreams? How far are you willing to go for your family? When it comes time to make hard choices, will you be able to? These are the questions the characters have to face and they do so in an incredibly fantastic tale. I'm looking extremely forward to seeing how this series continues

I fell in love with D.R. Perry's Providence Paranormal College series, so I had to give this series a try although I was leery about the premise. Perry nailed it again. He has a real knack for getting inside teenage minds and showing the reader how young adults can be simultaneously adult and adolescent, particularly since he keeps throwing them into deep ethical and practical dilemmas which force his characters, despite their Giftedness, to flounder and however clumsily reach resolution.
