Airsha was a strong woman. But being pregnant, raising an airling army, keeping her four husbands happy, dealing with a rude and surly teenage girl who is vying for the attentions of one of her husbands, and having her nasty twin brother arrive on the scene to cause more havoc, is just more than any woman should be expected to deal with. But Airsha isn't just any strong woman, she'd the Goddess' Chosen One. The one the prophesies said would bring magic to all. So she will raise her army, become a mother, love her husbands and do whatever is necessary, including manipulating elements in ways never done before, to end the war that is ravaging the known world. Some steamy (but wholly romantic) scenes may offend. Recommended for mature readers.
Nhys Glover is an Australian born award-winning author of over 75 romance novels. She is known for blending heart, heat, and a touch of the extraordinary in her stories. From time-traveling lovers to soul-deep polyamory connections, her work explores love in all its transformational forms. Now living in Durham County UK, Nhys draws on her background in teaching and spiritual inquiry for inspiration in her writing. As she sits at her desk, staring out at the windy moors, she often reflects on what it means to stay human in an increasingly digital world. It is, after all, the subject of her newest book, a non-fiction called Authenticity, as Taught by a Machine. But no matter the genre, Nhys is always chasing one thing: the truth at the heart of every story.
Airsha is the Goddess Incarnate, but she's also an 18 year old newlywed to 4 men, pregnant, and the figurehead of the rebel army. Is it any wonder that she's feeling a bit overwhelmed! The Chosen One picks up the story of Airsha and her Airluds where book one left off. The new family has settled in at their training center to begin preparing the airlings and young riders for the rebel army. One afternoon while enjoying married life, a young boy, no girl, Flea wanders up to the center asking to join their efforts as a rider. She quickly finds a place at the center reminding the Airluds of a younger version of their beloved. Unfortunately, she is nothing like Airsha. She's a con-artist with the ability to hear thoughts. She causes stress and insecurity for Airsha and raises suspicions from Rama. Flea has a crush on one of the brothers and is disrepectful to Airsha as the Goddess, as a woman, and to her marriage. Adding more stress and discord is the arrival of Airsha's twin.
Even set in a fantasy realm. I think that this series is one of the most realistic of all reverse harem. These 5 people dearly love each other. Yet even though they have chosen to be together it's not easy. There are doubts, insecurities, misunderstandings, and fights. There are raised voices and tears. There's also passion, friendship, comforting hugs, and so much love. This is a truly fantastic relationship. This is a book of questioning, accepting, healing. The characters come into their own as individuals, couples, and as a family.
The family and relationship drama is set in the middle of a budding war. There is excitement, suspense, betrayal, danger, and some truly heroic actions. It's exciting and entertaining. The stories balance each other nicely. It's good storytelling
I was not and am not a fan of Airshin or Flea. Airshin is a cowardly, worthless, weak excuse for a man. Flea is a liar. I realize that at times she felt guilt and tried to make good, but I do not like her. She tried to deliberately take what was not hers from another woman. She tried to hurt a woman who had been nothing but kind to her. She caused Airsha pain and caused her husbands to hurt her. I don't care that Airsha was overly hormonal and emotional. I don't like females like this and would be happy to never read another word about her. Unfortunately, I doubt I am granted this wish. I do want more of Ramic and Dalma, Bertil, Zem, Dark (love this pet name), Rama, Calun, Jaron, and Airsha!
I loved this one, although I dread the next book. I read enough reviews to know a huge part of what is going to happen and I can say I will HATE it. The solid strength in these books is the airlunds and their Goddess blessed bond with Airsha. My favorite parts of this series is when they are together, whether all together or more intimate pairs. It's always them growing and becoming stronger and us falling in love with them. Most reverse harems seriously suffer from not enough character and relationship development. This one's strength is that we grow to love and appreciate these guys and how special what they have is. Apparently, we won't see much more of that and I weep for what's to come. I have seriously considered not finishing the series.
I absolutely adored this book! I love the aspect of two different types of "living" are at war here. There were some major betrayals and unlikely friends in this book. It had me soaking up the words like a sponge. I could not put this book down.
This is the second book in a fantasy reverse harem series that I absolutely love. If you haven't already started this series make sure you read 'The Sacrifice' before starting this book. The world Nhys Glover created is so interesting and I could not love her characters more. The title indicates a trilogy but I feel like I could read about these characters forever!
Airsha is such an unbelievably strong and smart heroine, with insights I wish I had now at twice her age! Every single one of the heroes is strong, sexy, protective and loving with distinct personalities that make the reader fall in love with them all. There are new characters - one it took be a bit to warm up to - but even with limited page time (in some cases) Ms. Glover's characters are so richly drawn I feel like I know them intimately. I am looking forward to the next book very eagerly.
I highly recommend this series. It is so well written and really is much better than the majority of the reverse harem books you find being published lately.
The author takes the time needed to develop the characters and the relationships and it really helps you connect to the storyline. Airsha is a fabulous lead character but the author lets other characters shine as well. Flea is a big part of the story too.
I have really enjoyed this journey with them all and watching Airsha change not only her life but the lives of those around her. She gives them hope for a different kind of life and she only desires love and peace.
The author adds the elements that make the characters feel real. You see their strengths and weaknesses. The relationships are stronger than ever even with all the tests they face.
I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. This book, sometimes too rich with dialogues and inanities, is very realistic. Airsha is dealing with her absentee powers, the pregnancy and then being a mother. In all of this, sometime it's easy to forget that she's only eighteen. She's also dealing with her relationship with her four husbands. Being a Goddess Incarnate is not easy. But the war don't wait for anyone and finds them on the Training Centre. We met a lot of old and new characters, like Airsha' s Mom and twin, Flea and Zem. Cannot wait for the next episode.
I feel like I can't get enough of this series! This is the second book in a trilogy, and sometimes with middle of the story books the storyline can start to fall flat, but that didn't happen with this one! The fantasy world that has been created is so thorough and it is easy to immerse yourself fully into the story. I enjoy the different POV's that are thrown into the mix. You really get to see how some of the characters are feeling. I can't wait for the final book in the series!
Book Two was an Even ‘Un-put-down-able” as the first!!
I loved how in this book, the harem between Airshna and the men became stronger. And there was an even the added bundles *squeal of excitement* Also the end to another character- that I was SO thankful is now gone. I look forward to the next book and can’t wait to get my hands on it! Thank you Nhys, for another wonderful creation of worlds, and creatures, and characters.
Airsha has 4 husband brothers that she has settled down with. However, he father, the king, is still looking for her. Once captured, she was thrown into a pit for days then whilped. It took these husbands and the rebels to free her. Join her as the rebels formulate a plan to over throw the king.
I am finding that the Heroines voice is sounding repetitive, the talking to herself. The sexy times are HOT (Honey where are you?) but I find myself skimming the plot and new characters. I appreciated knowing more about Fleas story and it worked out, but it wasn't necessary. I like more of the banter between the characters, it starts to feel like an actual relationship.
Another amazing book in the series! I love Airsha and the airluds, I love their relationship and how they can get through even the most difficult times. I can't wait for the next in the series
I devoured books 1 and 2 as quickly as I could. I cannot wait to read the third. Nhys brought me so firmly into the world of fantasy that I found myself unable to put it down. Even walked into a door while reading! :-)
All I can say is that I can't wait for the next book! This had the right mixture of love, romance, action and heartache. Please hurry up with rest of the series.
