“Like an uninvited houseguest, or even worse a midnight burglar, brokenness can bash its way into our lives. Unannounced. Unwelcome. Unexpected. In Beyond Broken, John Andrews takes us on a profound journey where we can discover a new wholeness from our brokenness and find power, even in the pain of our lives.” – HELEN ROBERTS, Author of Be Victorious and Be Fruitful, from the foreword
Brokenness is a reality that every follower of Jesus experiences at some point on their journey, and it is in those moments of trial, pain, fear or failure that we look to the Lord for rescue and deliverance. We’re grateful for the times He saves us from the valley, but what of the moments when we experience His salvation by walking with Him through the valley?
This book doesn’t ignore the reality of brokenness. Rather, it embraces it, while making a journey of faith to help us find power in the pain. So often we cry out to God to “deliver us from evil” because our natural human instinct longs to find the exit. But as numerous heroes of the faith will testify, walking through the valley is sometimes the only way out of it.

I give very few books five stars, but on the second read, I think this little book is an absolute diamond. I found this book incredibly helpful - especially the earlier chapters. We have gone through some hard things as a family (and are still going through) so it was helpful to get John’s perspective, and it certainly made me feel less alone. This book has caused faith to rise up in me afresh, and believe the he will redeem all the hard things we have gone through. Although I cannot change the facts, I can change my perspective on it and how I view it in the light of God's plan. I would recommend this to anybody who is feeling broken.
Honest and vulnerable journey that ties theology and experience together
John talks about key issues that Christians face. He doesn't shy away from the big questions about where God is in times of pain. Instead he draws on the Bible to help us get through the valleys of life. His personal stories are heart breaking but how he faces them are inspiring. The balance of theology and experience shows the art work of a true teacher.
