Kayla grew up on an Idaho cattle ranch, but now calls the wheat fields of the Washington Palouse home with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. She writes romance, chick lit, and now romantic suspense. Her rural roots inspire her writing, and she enjoys giving the world a little taste of a life most folks have never experienced. A rabid reader, when Kayla isn’t writing, ushering dogs in and out of the house, or taking care of the humans in her family, you can find her in a comfy spot with a book or an e-reader in her hands.

My thanks to Kayla for the advance copy! I’ve enjoyed reading every one of her books, and this was no exception. I will say first that this book can’t really be considered a stand-alone novel. It does tell a story from start to finish, without a cliffhanger. It can be read as such, but you won’t understand a lot of the references in this story without having read the first book in the series, The Bet’s Off. You should read that one anyway, because it’s also a great story, and it introduces the main characters of the series, including Weaver. His story is the one featured in Broken Beginnings.

It’s a very different story from what I expected, considering his situation at the end of the previous book. Weaver certainly didn’t expect what he found either. His trip home was supposed to be a very different one. His character develops a lot in this story, and I like him even better now. What he and his family must deal with is sobering. This story tugs on the emotions in a big way. By the ending, Weaver’s life has taken a new direction, one that’s guaranteed to be an adventure.

Excellent story! I’m looking forward to the next book.

Love this book - after reading the first in the series, I have wanted to know more about the characters I met at 'Aina Ranch while reading Bet's Off - and Kayla Dawn Thomas did not disappoint. Once I got started, I couldn't put this down - the writing is great, and the plot keeps you engaged throughout. Treat yourself!

Loved it! Cant wait for the next installment! They cant seem to catch a break, always something is happening to them!! The way the characters are interacting with others is great, but I really want Tom see Vale & Weaver get back together. Great read, with just the right amount of twists & turns & romance!♥️😊

Weaver or Tony?

Poor Vale, she has a decision to make about her male suitors. Weaver seems perfect, until she learns more about him, that raises concerns. A family commitment has him on the mainland, when tragedy strikes. How does he handle it, how does she handle being part......

Attorney Weaver finds trouble -again!

Oh, my! What a great second novella in the 'Aina Ranch series! Weaver travels 'home' to Montana, too meet his new daughter, just a few months old. Upon his arrival, he finds that tragedy has happened... And the story goes on from there, with finding a bad guy, struggles with family, unexpected twists, turns, allies and, at the end, old feelings for Vale. Stand alone story, but helps to read the first book for more of the background. Well written!
