Book 1: The Shadow Children
The paranormal lore of The Demon-Born Trilogy is both intuitive and original. The ways in which it explains taken for granted aspects of fantasy worlds does credit to its inception. All characters, from those who appear on only several pages to those who are on every page are significant throughout. There's no superfluous extras herein, making every character count. The mystery is steady and the tension can run hot. There's a great deal of action and every page is engaging. That this is a series opener sets a very high benchmark for what is to come. The principles highlighted through the many significant plights show how protection can quickly turn to harm. The Shadow Children is a definite 5 star read and an urban fantasy splendour, add it to your library and you'll most certainly be entertained, enjoying the hours of reading. If you're like me you'll soon be looking out for the next in the series and other works by L.C. Hibbett: the best markers of great authors is when after you read a single book, you're planning to seek out what ever else they've written.

Book 2: The Shadow City
The revealing pace established in the first book continues from the first pages of book two. The mystery and foreboding ratchet up accompanying intrigue and anxiety respectively. Solving the mystery precipitates the intrigue and drive to keep reading. The anxiety coming from foreboding causes a building tightness in your chest as you continue to read, releasing the breaths you didn't know you were holding. If the precipitation of empathy and emotion are a driving force of storytelling, then the combined books are a definite homerun. Emotions are well encountered in Lucy's second novel of The Demon-Born Trilogy. Lucy's unique twist and reinterpretation of the demon concept gives rise to altered definitions of the sorts that fill the pages of kids storybooks, to become the boogie-man are present. The other types are not all that different the celestial visitors come to be known as angels.
The second novel continues this interesting reconstruction and flips the notions of which are dangerous to humans, and themselves. Humans play a rather token position so far in the storyline although there's many arguments of their entitled positions in the hierarchy of who the earthly realm is supposed to have been created for. The narrative of Grace as the central point of view is a powerful character to drive readers into seeing worlds that have been constructed in the ways intended. From the hopelessness to the righteousness and every other sympathetic emotion is able to be felt from her standpoint. The overall arc of the story has been climbing to the frenzy where the current novel signs off. The momentum hints at a major climax coming in book three. The emotive components feel like they've been building to an intended crescendo yet to be reached, leaving a great deal of anticipation about how the trilogy will finish. Lucy's natural style keeps you reading without those times when you have to stop and go back to read what has just passed, knowing you have missed some meaning. The content ticks all the boxes as does the style, even from a constructive criticism endpoint there's nothing I can find that warrants any mention. Obviously then I've arrived at five star conclusion.

Book 3: The Shadow War
The matrices of fear, lies and misdirection are as complex as their algebraic equivalents are to discern. What would you say if someone unknown to you, say versus dogmatic authority over belief systems based in religious, scientific or political faiths, were to come before you to reveal the truth of the known worlds. Where, in their teaching they speak of realms populated by many different and unlimited humanoid races that at one time span throughout history could willingly crossover between realms of existence where all that was required was the knowledge or skills necessary to do so. That in their telling there's nothing about angels or demons, pure blooded offspring versus that of hybrids, or any other dogmatic feature of cultural knowledge that empowers the haves versus the have nots? In your awareness of reality would you claim the teller looking to free you of the constraints of adherence to power bases built on lies, fabrication of knowledge, and fear and misdirection, was a fanciful lunatic or that instead your liberator where the established system is the insane party?
If knowledge is power and power controls the distribution of knowledge, then is there any truth that can be considered insane purely on the basis of beliefs if that person or believer doesn't actively seek to cause any physical outcome or consequence of their beliefs. Which is to say that when their ideas are nothing more than intangible statements that have no direct link to actions, yours or theirs, then is it truly reasonable to think of them as insane, or merely flexible in the propensity to believe that anything is possible if people simply believe it is. Can labelling people as insane or delusional affect the means of production and distribution of resources, and if yes, then can such a process be linked to unequal access to said features and resources based around the manipulation of truth in order to establish and wield power. If yes remains, then is it possible that the usage of sanity as a concept be about assigning power to some whilst taking it from others becomes the fault of the instigator and those who follow those beliefs, or the ones subject to or in argument to the so-called truths.
If anything the angelic race is as well equipped if not more so to fit in with typical definitions of demonic traits.
The only true demonic beings are those created and used by those in power to enforce their laws and judgement, not an inherent species that fell from creation and became torn asunder by their evil to form misshapen shapes and black magic. None once had wings that turned black or fell from their pinions when they sided with a rebellious leader who argued against the truths and intentions of creation. If splitting hairs, those sort of angels and demons that exist under that framework of belief are far more fantastical than the fantasy ones herein.
Perhaps a pertinent observation irrespective of adherence to beliefs, is that herein the real evil is fed by and created by the evil that's done in the world, but not as a singular creature or being. The collation and solidification of the essence of evil behaviour, the ephemeral emotions embodied into a thing that then fights for its life, prompting again the cycle of behaviour resulting in essence resulting in embodiment is part of the true evil no matter where you go or what you read or by whom the laws of nature are attested.
It is now a time of final confrontations and war that'll end one way or another. Such times are those meant for sacrifice, and the position of that sacrifice in the hearts and minds will vary considerably, as is wont of such times. Some will be voluntary with acceptance and willingness no matter how the events will play out. Some will be voluntary but only in the hope that their sacrifice will to the ends they deem just and warranted. Others will be reluctant and begrudgingly because they've been left with no other choice or road to take, and as such may be altered in the final hour because new paths or ideas present themselves in the heat of the moment.
And finally of course, there'll be those who are dragged kicking and screaming every step of the way. But let us not forget those who'll allow no such sacrifice as any aforementioned case, those who'll sacrifice every other thing involved so as to avoid any of their own. Despite their statements to the contrary, it's this last of five cases where the true cowardice and fear survives, which is often why this is the stance most likely to be associated with the greatest evils in any of the previous types; including those dragged to the gates.
Lucy's attention to detail, diversity of constructed knowledge, understanding of that which she wields, and the functionality of it are second to none. The system is as easily well developed and fruitful as most of the epic fantasy systems of yesteryear, only this one ventures into the contemporary popularity of epic urban fantasy. She's given this modern framework an age old debate and used the expansive existing knowledge and her own constructions the fundamentally appealing topics of angels and demons from whence to grow a thesis equivalent of information.
The gammit and breadth of intersection between deoms, angels, halflings, and humans is marvellous in its entertainment and immensely well developed. The demons and angels are less a creation of respective forms and types, and more a potrayal by those with power to set the standards of belief. Indeed there's only two true demonic types and one has an outward appearance capable of passing any visible test and the other was created by those with angelic type power or magic.
These finishing touches and rounding off of the questions, conflicts, and revelations have spectacularly finalised what I would've said originally is the series and trilogy. Only on reflection after allowing sentiments to marinade a little before tying off the review did a single sentence that stuck in my memory lead me to wonder about the future of Lucy's intentions. If it is indeed a hint, and post finish notes didn't include or suggest such, but I nonetheless am left wondering if the trilogy has finished for one range of generational characters and that by association there might yet be a possible future generation that return at least in part to a future series or trilogy. The complexity of the building can certainly handle it, but I might be a tad biased when I do also state that I'd be happy if Lucy does return to the Wicked Witch with a follow-up or two; I did love the prewuel there.
The demon-born and the unsaid angel-born might also open doors as yet not covered. Whilst the angel-born escaped the scrutiny with such malace and intentions for control, those who went against the flow did get lumped in with their equally hated doppelgangers. This too could possibly be explored, say through a small number of companion stories if not a major undertaking instead. The trilogy whilst being extremely well finished off does still, I feel, have some fertile grounds left for seeds to grow. In any event the current framework has unreservedly substantiated Lucy's place in the halls amongst the truly astounding and substantial fantasy literary works, at least to this fan and reader. Five - 5☆☆☆☆☆ - stars by three is a must!

Despite problems with uploads from Amazon which were corrected quickly I loved this series. Here are my reviews of each book:
Shadow Children - Well this was a gang buster of a read.First off there is a lot to keep straight lots of different races and who is good and who is bad and how is after who and why and twist to plots and people you thought good peeps aren't and magic but it isn't released for one reason or another. A strong heroine who also has her weakness and it is seen but at the appropriate time. A sulking hunk that sulks for a good reason but steps up when needed. It was busy, exciting, energetic, emotional, betrayal, twist and turns, with a good strong group of characters you must also keep straight but it all makes sense. The writing is strong and true and so are the characters. I loved it. This is my first book by this author and I loved all that she poured into the book. I can't wait for the next book in the triology.
Shadow City - Hold on for the ride of a lifetime as we meet up with the crews and everyone reunites after the attacks from the last book. As they search for captives and find out about more skills and face off against Angels and everyone else that seems to be against them. When they find out how the lost powers are being sought after and how they are revealing children that may have them. Those believed lost are found, background provided, questions answered, friends revealed and lives lost. The adventure doesn't end nor does it lack the power to keep you enthralled.
Shadow War - Time for war. The Shadow Children (they have shown themselves to be anything but children) are scrambling. With betrayal and loss at every turn they have no idea who to trust. Things must be handled and there is no time to lick their wounds or sit and dwell on their problems. The story is fast and furious as are the obstacles and revelations. Many will be sacrificed in order to win and it will take more than they know to achieve their goal. They are all committed to make it happen if they can withstand the deceptions laid out before them.

A great series that will keep your attention all the way through!
The Shadow Born Children - 5*
Grace is 18 and has been running her entire life with her foster family. For now they are living among humans but it feels like it is only time before the angels find them as the magic which binds them is starting to fail. For over two thousand years the Half-Born like Grace have been hunted to maintain the barrier that hides magic from the human population. Then they suddenly encounter some unexpected allies and are introduced to the world of The Shadow Children. She finds a world here that she belongs in, but there are battles to come, and nothing is certain - even down to who she can trust.
I loved this book - the way they were hiding and the mixture of races and half-breeds was very interesting and added a lot of variety. The writing was very clear, the descriptions of feelings, objects and emotions was very clear. I definitely enjoyed this first book in the series and can't wait for the next book now.
The Shadow City - 5*
The Shadow Children are trying to rescue the halfborn from the Silent Homes but it feels like a losing battle to Grace - now they are having to choose whether to trust the Angels or fight on alone. She has Sam by her side, but they still have to find their way through secrets and lies in the Shadow City.
Wow - lots going on in this book with plenty of twists and turns in the plot - how on earth do they work out who to trust as it seems to be near impossible. I loved the complexity of the story and the way you could not predict the way the story was going to go. It was well written and everything was very clear. I could definitely feel the emotions and thoughts that the characters were going through. I can't wait for the final part of the story.

The enemies of the Shadow Children are unmasked and the stakes are much higher than Grace had ever contemplated. Many of her friends are imprisoned and the Circle are doing everything they can to destroy the human race. Faced with a stark situation and even less choices it becomes apparent that Grace and the other Shadow Children are going to have to prepare for war. According to an ancient text there is only one way to break the Circle and their power but can Grace and Sam be strong enough to make that sacrifice?
What can I say? WOW. This is a fast paced drawing together of all the story threads towards the final confrontation. On the way there, were lots of twists, turns, and surprises where you didn't always know who was a friend and who was a foe. I felt that the ending was just open enough that there was room for a follow on series which I really hope the author creates as I will miss these characters and feel that there is more for them to achieve. As always everything was well written and clear/easy to understand. I could feel the emotions of the characters and the feelings involved in the story events.

Book 1
This book was great! It was like a roller-coaster to me.
The plot and the world that L.C. Hibbett created captured my heart, that was so vivid to me! For me, first few chapters were very rush and not understandable, as everything was given at almost the same time (i mean situation, introductions), but when you go over it - the READ WAS GREAT!!
The style we have here is very beautiful, very accurate.

This is not a story that can be read as standalone - I also recommend to read books in one shot, as there are a lot of characters.
I had a problem with getting into the action as 1. I had a break after book 2 (bad idea, there is no reminder inside the book - action just goes); 2. This book was over talked to me.
The truth was unrevealed and there was a TWIST that changes our knowledge from previous books - I really enjoyed this. Can Demon-Born children rescue the world? Join them in the third book of their adventure!

It's book 2 in the series. You MUST read book 1. And I advise to read them at once.
Their action starts almost from the first page not like in book 1.
Once again I fell in love with main characters - Grace and Sam! All characters were well-developed, no one was black or white.

This book was great! It was like a roller-coaster to me.
The plot and the world that L.C. Hibbett created captured my heart, that was so vivid to me! For me, first few chapters were very rush and not understandable, as everything was given at almost the same time (i mean situation, introductions), but when you go over it - the READ WAS GREAT!!
The style we have here is very beautiful, very accurate.

This series is gripping, with a fast pace, a good storyline, and well developed characters that pulled me in. A really good series that I’m looking forward to continuing.
****The Shadow City #2: good series
The fight continues, with more secrets, surprises, wins, and loses. Sam and Grace compliment each other in their powers, and their love. Although, Sam has a dark past to overcome. The war is coming.... Note: this story was a little hard to follow at times.
****The Shadow War #3: Nice finale!
There’s so much going on in this book, that it was hard to keep up with at times. Lots of twists and turns, surprises, danger, wins and losses. Some of the good guys die in this series. But good does prevail and all wraps up in a nice conclusion.

The best series from this genre I think I've ever read!
This is one of the most fantastic series I have read from this genre!! It was so well written and well thought out. It didn't have insta love which I always appreciate too. And I liked that it didn't just have the normal two main characters and the rest be "fill in people". There were many many people who were just as important and were completely included throughout each book. I loved all the twists and turns there were, so it was never once predictible. I never imagined how it would end until I read the last page, which is quite a feat! I am going right now to see if there are any other books from this author and adding to my insta-buy list (which isn't very long) If I could give it more than 5 stars I would <3

Good versus evil
Grace and her foster mother Eve and her foster sister Cat and foster niece Dawn have a good life. Always hiding but they are together. Dawn’s magic is becoming more unstable and they are running out of time. Then one day Cat has to leave the study group that she helps teach early and Grace is given a ride home by Cain, Sam, Jasmine and Elijah. They confront Eve, Grace and Cat about their magic and tell them they are Shadow Children and they can help Dawn and protect them. That night changes all their lives as the fight to survive from corrupt Elders and save all the Shadow children from torture, betrayal and the greatest evil of all. You will laugh, cry and feel like you are on a roller coaster of emotions. A very good trilogy and worth reading.

A bit grim
I love it when the heroine and hero finally get together. It was a long road to get them there but after all the angst and fighting, they finally connect and unleash their magic. Grace is a typical young woman except she is Demon Born and therefore in hiding. Sam and her have an interesting start. Friends, then Sam starts the pull and push craziness. Typical broken guy junk but Grace eventually pushes through. Lucky for him she doesn't take his crap.
There are some really grim parts to the story. Not to many details but enough to keep a squeemish person from wanting to read some of the vague desriptions of the torture of children. Lots of mystery and betrayal but the key is always love. I liked that part most.

Great young teen read.
I enjoyed this trilogy. I think the characters and plot were well thought out. I liked picking through the mysteries with the characters as they were relatable and the villains were strong. I did not care for the change of layout and point-of-view for the third book though. To read the first two books as one character p.o.v. and then change between characters in the third was annoying. Plus, Sam still read as if it were Grace so the change seemed pointless. I also got distracted by the editorial errors but I am not sure I can fault the author for that. I could envision this as a movie with a bit more development. Over all I would recommend this as a young teen read and a quick, fun read for an adult.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This series was wholly amazing and completely absorbing. L.C. Hibbett's story is so powerful and her images so real that it's impossible to escape the world she has conjured for this drama. With strongly opinionated and determined heroes and heroines and the vilest and most depraved villains, it's difficult not for form your own alliances with the characters struggling to save themselves and their loved ones while detesting those that would harm them. This story will flood your senses with every emotion as good wars against evil and it will overpower your mind with collusion, deception, and sheer sorcery. A MUST READ!!!!!

What a roller coaster!!! (It’s a good thing!)
Wow!!!! What a series. This was the most entertaining, thrilling and exciting series I’ve read in awhile. The characters were all amazing! The story line really really Good!! Grace, Sam and the gang were just magnificent. Finally a series that kept me from putting my kindle down or eager to pick it back up.
I did however guess one of the Villains. Lol
FYI there were a lot of gramatical errors. Quite a bit of added words when they didn’t belong.
I was very pleased with the series. 👍🏼👍🏼

Great Trilogy
I loved reading all three stories back to back with out waiting. I couldn’t put it down till it was done. The only thing I’m not sure on is what happened in Moscow? Some things from the first story and the start of the second story I think either got left out or wasn’t described well enough. There were a few times where I was a little lost but then I figured it out. I loved the end and hope that the story continues to what is happening now that the story is over.

Prepare your heart.
These novels. I'm not even sure there is a way to properly describe them without you reading them first. The worlds created here are stunning and so full of hope & despair, yet completely fill you with love. The characters are incredible. They grow, they change, they persevere and prove that age (young or old) has no standing when it comes to being brave, loyal, and true. You'll cross lines, fall in love, lose and gain more friends than you can count, and in the end it is all worth it. It is a new Dawn after all.

Really addictive boxset
Really addictive boxset although to be honest I was a little annoyed at the start of book 2 my pet hate in fact when your so wrapped up in the storyline that when you turn the page to book 2 and the Author did not start of where book 1 ended which causes total confusion till half way through before you realise what happened in between books aarrhh but otherwise I would definitely recommend it and I'd certainly read it again

Excellent story!
Wow, what a fantastic world the Demon Born trilogy is set in. I loved everything about this story! The characters are phenomenal, the action is intense, the battle scenes are over the top, and the story line is fantastic. I hated to reach the end!
I would very much like to read more of this world after the final battle took place, Grace, Sam, Dawn, Ozzie…their stories need to continue!

Finally
I've been trying to finish this book for so long. The original copy i got through Amazon was not the final book so it didn't gave the final chapters included. I was sad that i would probably never know the ending. But now i have read it and it is once of my favorite books by far. So much action. So many twists and

Edge of my seat
This was a suspenseful, clean paranormal romance that kept me flipping pages and reading until the wee hours of the morning. The only drawback was it still needs a proofreader and there was the occasional "F" word. Aside from that the story was brilliant and captivating, taking me into a new world.

Outstanding!!!
This is a must read. I was enthralled from the beginning to the end. It has an array of interesting characters, great plots, enough suspense to keep you guessing, and action. I couldn't have asked for a better trilogy to read. I was disappointed by one of the deaths at the end but o'well there has to be drama.

Good books
Love the story and the world building. The editing, not so much. In book one chapters 43 & 44 are in the wrong order. Read 44 first. Also the rest of the editing in places makes for difficult reading. At one point Aza tells everyone to cease the day when it should be seize the day. But even with the editing problems this is one I would read again.

This series is an awesome series. I read it completely in a weekend because you can't stop reading. The characters are awesome and I love following them on their adventures. Each character learns more about themselves as the series reads on. I don't want to spoil any of it, but I love this series and I love the author and will be reading more of her stuff in the future.

Really wanted to like this book
I was excited to read this series from start to finish and while the first book was great, the last two I found so hard to keep my interest and was just plain boring. Way too many pages wasted on details that didn't matter and the ending was lackluster at best.

This was a really interesting book. The characters are well developed and complex. The story line has many twists and is filled with diverse characters of all the different races . A clean romance that shows that “every race” must work together to save the world. The third book could have done without the change of views and stayed in Gracie’s point of view like the other two books.

Brilliant
This fantasy trilogy gripped me from the beginning. It is serious and full of battles but yet there is a little romance and also some humor. Angels and demons but it isn't cut and dried which is good or evil! Well worth the read!

Fantastic
These books were amazing. The stories followed each other so well. Gave us just enough to keep reading at the end. I enjoyed every book. Fantastic reads. Loved Grace and Sam's love story and all the challenges they had to go through.

Excellent Trilogy
This series is a page turner that once you start reading you cannot put the books down. This series puts a new twist on Angels and Demons. Full if action with some heartfelt romances thrown in. I definately recommend this series.

I really loved this trilogy. The story went from strength to strength. The characters were cleverly interwoven with such a mix of magic and paranormal. I was vested in the story right up to the last page.
