This is a tale of a very cool farm dog named Ziggy, who is drawn to save a squirrel from certain demise. In doing so, he sacrifices his own life . . . or does he? Through a chain of spine-tingling events, Ziggy discovers his true calling: Ranch Hero. This book reminds us that life is indeed a wonderful mystery and that maybe our guardian angels don’t always have wings.

Ranch Hero is a good children’s book. The book would be perfect for any child that has recently lost a pet. In the book, Ziggy the dog gets hit by a truck saving a squirrel from getting killed. Ziggy becomes an angel who saves his friends from the donkeys harassment This book teaches a few lessons to children. The first lesson that it teaches are that friendship and love are eternal. Ziggy loves his friends so much that he comes back as an angel to save them. The second lesson that the book teaches is the most important. When a pet dies, don’t be sad for them because they become happier. Before Ziggy died he was reasonably happy. However, when he comes back as an angel he is even happier because he is able to help his friends. The illustrations in this book leave a lot to be desired. There was something about them that I didn’t care for. I just can’t figure out exactly what it was. However, the story is still good despite the illustrations. I recommend this book for children ages 4-10.

A great childrens book about what can happen to animals once they get their wings. I can't wait until my 14 month son is older to read this to him. It had a little twist and I thought something was up but kids will definitely enjoy this book
I won this book for free from the Goodread's First Reads giveaway.
I entered to win this book for my nephew and niece who are both under the ages of 5. Their mother also runs a daycare at her home; kids ages 1 to 10 attend. Therefore, I knew this book would get much use!!!
From an adult's perspective I would rate this book 3/5 and from a child's I would say 3.5/5. The children under the age of 5 did not seem to grasp the idea that the dog died in the story. There was a lot of big words in the story as well for kids under 5. This story is more directed for kids ages 5 to 10. It teaches kids to deal with the death of a pet, and that their pet can live happily in an afterlife. I always prefer children's stories that involve animals. I liked the book and the older kids did as well. I think the author is on to something and the next few books have the potential to be great.
I recommend this book to parents with children ages 5 to 10.
We received a copy of this book through a giveaway. I just sat down to read it to my two young children and had to stop part way through the book. The story is about a dog who is hit by a truck while trying to save another animal. The content of the book is too mature for our girls.
