"Second Chance Ranch" is a story of love, redemption, and second chances (obviously since it is found in the title). Squire and Kelly have a love story that is not typically for most romance authors, it is different without being too different. When you dive into this story you will meet two characters that could be your next door neighbors if you didn't look hard enough.
"Third Time's the Charm" is a wonderful tale of healing, peace, and hope that takes place within two people that never thought it could happen to them. People say that time heals all wounds, but for these two people horses actually have the magical touch. Some say that God works in mysterious ways, and that is seen throughout this beautifully told novel.
"Fourth and Long" is a beautiful story about second chances, even when they aren't the easiest thing to come by. Brett and Kate where married for only a short time before he was shipped out for a tour in Iraq, but what he didn't know was that even though Kate had asked for a divorce two months into his tour- it was never finalized. Kate found out she was pregnant and now she is back, multiple years later, to finally tell Brett the truth. Is it too late?
"Fifth Generation Cowboy" is a novel that struck outside of the norm for this series, at least to me. I felt like this novel by Ms. Isaacson was a step about from the homestead of Three Rivers Ranch, and into the lives that surround the community that makes these books so great. We find Tom and Rose in a new, up and coming friendship; one that's built on both not looking for love. Can they be what the other needs, even with them both fighting it? Will they find that happily ever after?
"Sixth Street Love Affair" is a wonderful story and is actually the first in this series that I was reading for the first time. I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet and new romance, it had the passion and a little bit of danger to keep readers on their toes and coming back for more. I can honestly say that I never expected this story to have come out of the quiet Garth and Juliette; however, I will not say anything more for I don't want to give anything away.
"The Seventh Sergeant" shows the broken side of a veteran, the physical pain instead of just the mental agony that stays behind after the war. Reese Sanders was Pete's first patient at Courage Reins and has finally began to find his way in the war with his disabilities, that is until an accident might leave him paralyzed permanently. Can Carly Watters help Reese fight his way out of the deep hole of depression? Can there be a love story here?
"Eight Second Ride" was an interesting tale about the character Ethan, which has been alluded too in previous novels, and how God has truly transformed him from the inside out. In this novel we are draw out of Three Rivers, for the first time ever, where Ethan decided to rejoin the rodeo scene and meets the wonderful Brynn.
"The First Lady of Three Rivers Ranch" is the eighth novel in this series and is a wonderful story of home time goes backward and we read about the love story that began everything! Frank and Heidi have a story that stands strong through the ages, and I am so happy that Ms. Isaacson decided to go back and provide us with this wonderful tale.
"The Ninth Inning" is a very cute novella about the town's boutique owner and the local cowboy. Andy wasn't looking for love, had actually broken off one of the best relationships she had ever had, but Lawrence knew deep down that their love was meant to last. Through a little engineering and a few smooth moves, can this love be reunited?
"Ten Days in Town" was a different short of novella, it is not the "typical" Three Rivers story. We find Sandy, the pancake house owner wishing one moment she could fly far away and then another moment to forever remain within the comfort of her small town. Enter in her older brother and his best friend from college, jealousy flares from Sandy for the sort of life she wants when her brother becomes engaged. Can Tad, her brother's best friend, be the one she has been waiting on?
"Eleven Year Reunion" is a novella that had my heart melting over the sweetest between second chances and first loves! Jon and Grace knew each other as high schoolers, but were separated by a twist of fate and a move. Through failures and sour endings, they both want a new start and to find happiness that they have both been desperately needing; there's only one problem though, one of the doesn't like Three Rivers and cannot wait to leave! Can God be calling this couple back together for their second chance?
"The Twelfth Town" is an amazing short-story about Taryn, a star reporter until something drastic changed her life forever. Now she's running, whether from self-preservation or embarrassment, she has yet to figure out- all she knows is she has to get as far away from her past as possible. When she enters into the twelfth town in the past eight months she begins to feel a peace like she has never known before, one that suggests she might have found her true home, that is until a handsome cowboy throws her for a loop. Kenny is a happy, go-lucky former marine, who has been told more than once that he is just "too happy." Can his forever smile and charms win over the miserable Taryn and let her finally feel safe?
"Lucky Number Thirteen" is a very well written tale, though shorter than most of Ms. Isaacson's novels, and thoroughly enjoyable. To say the least, Three Rivers Ranch has went out with a bang and I am very sad to see this series come to an end. I have loved each and every novel with all having a five rating except for one which received a four. In this story you find the mysterious, selfish, Tanner Wolf. In previous novels he obtained the title of heart-breaker and trouble-maker; however, in this story our male lead has found the Lord and is trying to turn his life around to the path that it needs to be on. After a major tragedy, Tanner meets the marvelous Summer and hopefully she is the one that can heal him in more ways than one.

Second Chance: I started this series with the First Lady at 3 Rivers. I really liked that as we see both of those mains quite a bit. I loved this story. The setting, the second chances, the ranch, family, and mystery. I honestly am grabbing the next book immediately!
Third Time's: I really enjoyed this romance. The starting of Courage Reins was an amazing experience. It was awesome seeing this as I read the Seven Sons Ranch series first and this program comes up. I really liked watching these two work through their pains and come together. The idea of a horse therapy program has been tossed around in my family for over a decade. There were just many aspects of this book that hit close to my heart. I loved it. Like with any Isaacson book, you just can't get enough!
Fourth and Long: Wowie. This was the Hail Mary of second chance romances! It was incredible and deep and had a lot to do with forgiving both others and yourself. There was army mixed in and parenting. I have an almost 4 year old son and it was fun to see what he'll be like in just a short few years. Pretty unbelievable. I really like the letters aspect - reading over what they wanted to say to each other over the years.
Fifth: I really enjoyed this romance and the autism emphasis. The great thing about binging series is that you remember all of the moments with minor characters when it comes time for them to star. Makes it that much better. I love seeing the different ranches and different families. A wonderful and interconnected world.
Sixth: We see these characters and some of their story in Fifth Generation Cowboy, you might appreciate it all a little more if you read that book first. I anxiously awaited this book to see what happens between these characters. This may only be a novella, but the depth and breadth of it made it feel like a novel. Intense and real. I loved it.
Seventh: I thoroughly enjoyed this cowboy client romance. Reese has been flirting around the edges of this series for a few books now, originally I wondered if he’d be getting together with Lex, and while I didn’t know too much going into this book, I knew I’d come to love it. How could I not? I loved figuring out where the title came from!
Eight: This book had a different feel than the previous books in the series, probably because it happens mostly on the circuit instead of the ranch. However, i still really enjoyed it. There were strong characters. The story definitely took a turn that i wasn’t expecting.
First Lady: I’ve been meaning to read this series for months and it just kept getting pushed off until I just decided to force it! I knew that there were two entry points to this series, but I’ve always been one for chronological order, so I knew I had to start with this one, even if it was written later. I was not disappointed. I loved the characters and the feel of being back just a tad in time. I’m super pumped to see the connections in the series. I started my journey with Isaacson with reading the Seven Sons series, which spins off from this one. I do wish I had read this series first, but if it hadn’t been for the other, I may never have discovered Isaacson. All this to say that I love this author and these Christian cowboys finding love and forever.
Christmas Collection (4 novellas) A sweet collection of Christmas novellas. It was fun to see some minor characters throughout the series get a romance story. I didn’t enjoy these as much as the previous books and novellas in the series, but they were still quick and fun reads. Ninth: A sweet and energetic second chance romance. Some trust issues that were a bit unsettling. Ten: Brothers best friend romance. I enjoyed the different places these two characters came to this relationship from. While the romance was whirlwind, and this story was kinda different, there was a different thread of real ness to it. Eleven: I really do like how we see previous mains in previous books reappear in subsequent ones and get to see what’s going on in their lives. I enjoyed this second chance romance and the decisions that had to be made about feelings and likes. Twelfth: This was a fun “incognito type” with some damsel in distress tones. I enjoyed these characters getting together.
Thirteen: I was both surprised and thrilled that Tanner is getting his own novella! After finishing the Christmas novellas, I was stumped wondering who could possibly come next in the series. I absolutely loved this book about a cowboy and a caregiver.
Fourteenth: I love Cinderella stories! A sweet novella with an incognito heroine and a cowboy who isn’t looking for love. I enjoyed their time together and the fairy tale bits.
Fifteen: It seems a bit odd to me that 3 Rivers has all this history and matchmaking but we haven’t heard of it until book 15. That said, there’s obviously a matchmaking theme in this book. I liked the bit of twist it was given. The characters were good and solid and enjoyable. I liked their adventures together.
Sixteen: I loved this book! I liked getting a glimpse at Grape Seed Falls as it’s the next series I’m going to read. I loved these characters and their journey working things out. There were definitely times that got my heart pounding - for multiple reasons.
Sleigh: The end of a series. It was an amazing book with a good dose of holiday spirit. I loved the characters and their work on the building development. It was a great time following them through. I’ve already read the Seven Sons series but I may have to go reread them now that I know all these characters around town!
Who knew I would like contemporary western romance ?!
I spent a summer with my grandparents in my pre-teens. It was in a very small town in Oregon and as I was there to help my grandmother post surgery, there was little to do. No problem as I was even then an avid reader. Except my grandparents bookshelves were full of Louis Amour and other westerns. And no store or library in sight! After that summer I did not touch anything that remotely hinted of cowboys, or even farms and ranches, cows and horses, cattle drives and rodeos-- well you get the picture! However, I have lately begun to look at contemporary western romance with a different eye. I started with novels about returning veterans and cowboy themes. And with that stumble on to Liz Isaacson and Three Rivers Ranch. Ms. Isaacson writes "feel good fiction", happy ending stories that leave you thinking no matter how bad your life is now there is hope for a better future. Her romances are sweet without any hot and heavy sex scenes. But it is amazing how much steam Liz is able to produce with a kiss! She makes me tingle just describing a goodnight kiss! I should also point out that Liz writes Christian fiction. Three Rivers includes Bible verses at the beginning of every chapter, church services every Sunday and bits and pieces of some Christian advice and sermons. While I was leery at first, Liz does not preach but instead uses the principles of Christianity to help the story along. Universal truths such as forgiveness and love are emphasized in her writing in order to support the concepts of hope and second chances. I found her writing to be very insightful and the references to God's influence in our lives to be comforting and peaceful.
I especially love that Three Rivers involves otherly-abled (definitely not disabled) veterans coping with the return to civilian life. As a veteran married to a very special veteran I have lived the situations Liz writes about. She understands the mind set well and created some very believable characters in the men and women involved in Three Rivers Ranch. As a retired RN, I was intrigued by the idea that the ranching could be therapeutic in so many ways. There is equine therapy but also dogs, cooking and many day to day ranch chores that prove to be beneficial in healing not just the physical injuries but the mind and soul as well. It made me long to be part of something as worthwhile as what her characters were doing in Three Rivers. This was a complete collection of Three River novels. By about book 5 I was beginning to think maybe I had enough of the town and ranch of Three River. But then Liz Isaacson added some new life with new generations and new residents. It became a whole new world of romance and adventure. Overall, the collection is very well done and a very enjoyable read. Three Rivers was not the first I had read by Liz Isaacson nor will it be the last!
Clean romance, lukewarm Christianity and a little sizzle
I enjoyed the characters, plots, and settings. I liked that it was a clean romance set.
I took a star because I was not impressed by the way Christianity was presented in most of the books. Phrases like "cursing the universe" bothered me, as did one or two heroes appraising the physical attributes of their interest in a heated way. A lot of references seemed more lip service than anything else.
For romance, it was clean, heartwarming, and sweet with a little sizzle.
A while back, I read these stories as individual books through my Kindle Unlimited account. When I found this collection on sale, I had to own it. I'm working on reading every one of Liz's Cowboy romances. I'm never disappointed by her characters, or their trials and growth. I'm a sucker for a happy ending and she always gives me one. This collection is worth the investment and the read. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I love reading Liz Isaacson's books because they always transport me to a realm of joy and happiness, mixed in with realistic day by day issues. I felt as if I was walking right alongside the characters, cheering them on, feeling their pain and their joy. A personal relationship with Christ and prayer are integral to Liz's books and I really appreciate that. Doing right when you've been wronged -- a very important part of life. Thank you, Liz!
I really enjoyed reading this collection of stories. This collection of 10 romance novels is clean and Christian. Each book starts with a scripture, the theme to the book. Each tells a story of the wonderful characters of Three Rivers, a ranch about 45 minutes drive outside a small Texas town by the same name. A delightful collection!
I love when series of books are in a collection. You just keep reading straight through. I didn't want to put these down. Fantastic characters in a beautiful setting. You can't help but get tangled up in their lives.
Love these romances... Plenty of situations and characters that make you think and pray and ask for courage, patience, wisdom... Love the ranch life style and the little town air...
Each and every book in this series tugs at your heartstrings. They are sweet, gentle love stories... and who doesn't love a cowboy, soldiers, and the women who love them.
