Breast cancer or any disease is not the whole story in a person's life. But when you or a loved one is ill - it is everything. Cancer was a theme in the author's life starting with a grandmother that she never knew. A strong family history of breast cancer haunted, shaped and even led her to do things that would contribute to a pre-mature death like her mother, aunt and grandmother.
UnBroken isn't a linear story from childhood to adulthood. It doesn't chronicle tests, appointments, or technical aspects of her diagnosis and treatment in great detail - rather it's a collection of vignettes and images that form a much bigger picture, one that points to God.
Kath's desire in writing UnBroken is to share how great God is and how well He cares for us. Her outlook has been changed from apathy and despair to hope and joy. She would like readers to be inspired to take life by the hand and go from fear to faith to live life in fullness.
