You’re barely keeping it together—grief, bills, and a teenage brother who needs you to be the strong one. Romance? Not on the agenda. Then he shows up. Bleeding. Dangerous. Beautiful. A black panther shifter with haunted eyes and secrets that could shatter your world. You order him to leave. "Can't," he says. "Can't?" you huff. And gasp as he slides sideways, boneless as a ragdoll...
Dark, war-scarred shifter Jace Jones lost nearly his entire family in the brutal battles known as the Darktime. Now he's clawing his way back, helping to rebuild the clan—until a fae assassin leaves him bleeding out on a stranger’s doorstep.
Nursing student Evie Morningstar is juggling bills, grief, and her teenage brother. So when a dangerously beautiful shifter crashes into her life, dragging enemies and secrets behind him, she knows better than to get involved.
But the fae are still on the hunt, and now Evie's a target, too. Can Jace protect the woman who ignites his deepest desires?
"Primally exciting, sexy and downright fun, Saving Jace is an absolute winner!" ~InD'Tale Magazine
NOTE: Saving Jace is the first book in the Darktime Trilogy featuring the Baltimore Earth Fada clan. All books in the Fada Shapeshifter Series are standalone with an HEA, but the stories and people interconnect. If you crave dark shifters, treacherous fae and intense emotional storylines, this series is for you.
THE FADA Shapeshifters created during Dionysus’s infamous bacchanals from a mix of fae, human and animal genes. They’re ruthless, untamed...but when they love, it’s forever.
USA Today bestselling author Rebecca Rivard read way too many romances as a teenager, little realizing she was actually preparing for a career. She now spends her days with vampires, shifters, fae and other magical creatures, which has to be the best job ever.
InD'Tale Magazine calls her work "steamy, spellbinding romance with phenomenal pacing," and the Paranormal Romance Guild named her Vampire Syndicate Series a "must read." Her stories have won multiple awards including the prestigious PRISM, the RONE, and the Paranormal Romance Guild Reviewers' Choice Award.
If you crave steamy, emotionally charged romance between dangerous men and the women they'd raze cities to possess, Rebecca's books are for you. HEA guaranteed.
Very hot, very Alpha, panther shifter Jace is dying right on waitress Evie Morningstar’s back doorstep and Fate connects them completely, but will Fate also tear them apart when Evie and her younger brother become pawns in a deadly quest for power and control in the Fada world?
Evie is already burdened with the weight of the world on her shoulders, but she is about to discover there is more to her than meets the eye as the magic and passion between her and Jace become a heated connection that flies off the charts with a tender sweetness that shines. Her first responsibility is to her brother, but the Fada have put them both in jeopardy and now she can only hope that Jace and his clan can keep them safe, a vow Jace has made and will die to keep.
Rebecca Rivard has another steamy hit on her hands! SAVING JACE has all the passion of romance, the intrigue of suspense and the danger of the constant battle of good versus evil, ratcheted up to deadly proportions. Through it all, Ms. Rivard never fails to create characters with heart, compassion and a keen sense of right and wrong, even at the worst of times. Her villains are dark, and downright loathsome and there is no gray area where they stand. From start to finish be prepared to feel the tension, the passion, and even the warmth that these characters can exhibit!
This standalone is a wonderful introduction to the world of Rebecca Rivard’s writing and Jace? This alpha has heart in spades and a vulnerability that is sighworthy!
I received an ARC edition from Rebecca Rivard!

. This is my first book by this author and I am diving well into an established series. Yet I had no trouble understanding what was going on. I thought the use of crystals was a little silly, but then I tend to roll my eyes at that sort of thing in general. In this 'world' shifters aren't a secret and there are aquatic shifters as well as land animals. There are also different kinds of Fae. I liked the world building as a whole and it blends in well with the storytelling. The MCs are both strong characters with minds of their own so that even though it was a fated mate kinda thing, i still felt the chemistry and strong connection between the two. Their love was sweet and romantic. The sexy times were spicy. I wished for more of them as a couple and less time spent on the villains.
Jace is attacked by a night Fae, and manages to collapse on Evie's doorstep. A truly fortuitous choice of doors! There's the mystery of who is trying to kill Jace, and the need to protect Evie and her brother. There is also the mystery of Evie, when up until this point, she never thought of herself as mysterious at all...
I would have given more stars, but somehow the imagination that went into the story was hampered by being too predictable. But not in a comfortable way. Because the action and violence isn't comfortable. So instead of the action towards the end being nail biting, I found it grating.
I am curious about Evie's dad's book which is next...
I am not sure how I missed this gem when it first came out but I am glad I read it now. It was exciting, suspenseful and satisfying. Rivard is a master in the fantasy genre, her world has rules that are easy to understand and remember. No need to have previous knowledge of the series to comprehend and enjoy any of the books in this series.
This is my first Rebecca Rivard book and it didn't disappoint! Although it took a little while for me to get oriented with the Fada shapeshifter world, I was hooked once it all came together. Loved the blending of fae and shapeshifter lore, and the characters were all wonderful and relatable. Adric is my favorite, of course! Gotta love those alphas. ;) And I really enjoyed how Evie and Jace's relationship bloomed.
Definitely will be picking up the next book in this series!
“Saving Jace” is fast-paced, thrilling, and full of action. The two head characters, Jace and Evie, are a drool worthy couple for multiple reasons. First, the development of their relationship seems very natural, despite the soul mate trope that’s used. As I was reading through the novel, I wholeheartedly believed these two characters were compatible. More importantly, I wanted them to be together because I believed they deserved one another. Also, they broke the typical “alpha male and spunky female” trope. Though Jace is no pussycat (pun intended), he doesn’t come off as overbearing or dominant. The author managed to portray him in a way so that the reader was still aware of his masculinity but comforted by the fact it wasn’t his sole defining feature throughout the novel. The same goes for Evie who has a smart remark at the ready if needed, yet isn’t constantly itching to tear somebody a new one.
I also loved the family theme portrayed throughout the novel. The fact that Evie has a younger brother to consider when deciding to get involved in the supernatural world added a new twist to the story. She and Jace being together wasn’t a sole decision they had to make. They had to consider his clan and her brother. All or nothing!
Overall, I enjoyed this novel but there were a few times it frustrated me. The dialogue didn’t always seem natural. Actually, at these points it seemed only to be written to push the plot and not entice the reader. This unrealistic feeling was further increased when the characters would talk about external plot points in the middle of a sex scene. As a reader, it threw me off and I thought it better suited to pillow talk or post-sex scenes.
Lastly, I wish there was more development between Evie, her brother, and the secondary characters. Despite the author informing us there was discrimination against mixed bloods in the clan, everyone welcomes Evie and her brother with open arms. There’s no hesitation and the way Evie interacted with the secondary characters, you would have thought they knew one another for years. You can be friendly but up to a point.
To wrap it up, I can’t wait to read more about the earth fada. Jace is my favorite male lead in the entire fada series and I want to learn more about the characters that surround him. The novel is such a quick read yet still so entertaining and watching Evie and Jace fall in love is worth it all.
I LOVE Rivard's Fada shifter series, it's so original in a market full of shifter series but the strength isn't only in the uniqueness of the series but in Rivard's writing. I love the soulmate/fated-one trope but often times it doesn't seem like the H/h seem truly compatible and are just thrown together by fate but reading Jace and Evie's story, there was no way they were NOT compatible. I was dying for them to be together. She's created to very compatible characters who bring out the best in each other.
By the way, I loved Evie, her story mirrors so much of my own from nursing school and waitressing and raising a younger brother *checks in my backyard for an injured cat shifter that I can nurse to health and finds nothing*
I really like that while this comes from an entire series, each can stand-alone and are different. There's no cookie-cutter hero and heroine. All of her main characters are unique and I love learning about a new hero and heroine in each book. I'm really looking forward to Marjani and Adric's stories but I really hope we get back to the Sea Fada soon, I really love the Sea Fada!
Wow! This is the first book in this series I’ve read and couldn’t put it down. The author has weaved a unique story that is entertaining, has romance, and complex characters. In addition to being complex, the characters are intriguing, and likable. I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
I received a copy of this book from the author, my review has been voluntarily submitted.
Good opening, but it started to feel as if I had read this before, but better. It was the tropes, the endless tropes, and the Telling was boring. Can't see that this is a best seller.
“Yeah,” he said with a sheepish smile. “The cat likes you.” Shifters didn’t mix with humans... His cat wasn’t happy, but the man told the cat to suck it up. he didn’t do humans. Now that was blown to hell. She tried not to notice how good he smelled—warm, sweaty male. Down, girl. Sure, the man was sexy in a dark, dangerous way, but he was a fada—and a Baltimore earth fada at that. Everyone knew they were a murderous clan. HOLY SINGING CRYSTALS, What a truly JAGNIFICENT story!! How do you know that this is a great book? When the author has you falling in love with "The Enemies"! LOL And did I ever fall!! Fast, hard, deep...aaand that did not come out quite right! But you know what I mean! Saving Jace is stuffed full with humor, friends, family, love, honor, enemies, mysteries, traitors, passion, shifters, fae, heartbreak and so much more! I did cry a couple of times, but smiled, chuckled, giggled and outright laughed a LOT! I love the ingenuity of the quartz, the things they can use it for, over and above the most basic needs/uses! Given that I hadn't yet read all of The Fada Shapeshifter Series, I eagerly jumped at the chance and surprised even myself by loving this series so much I literally read a book a day, even staying up all night reading Tempting the Dryad (book 3) and then the next night reading this one! However I have to confess that I was a little leery to read this one when I discovered it’s the first book in the Darktime Trilogy about the Baltimore Earth Fada Clan! I had fallen in love with Dion, Cleia, Rui, Valeria, Tiago, Alesia and the rest of The Rock Run River Fada and was loyal to them, so to leave them behind & switch to reading about their rivals made me a little nervous. (and feel a little guilty, like I was betraying them!) *snort* Shame on me! By now I should know better and to trust Rebecca! Because I had ABSO-FADA-LUTELY NOTHING to be worried about! She had me completely captivated from the very beginning! Turns out that they aren't so diff... OOOPS! Almost let a spoiler slip out! Not much else I can say, but I can and will say that I love, Love, LOVE Jace's story!! And that I LOVE that even though we have switched clans, the storylines continue, the stories keep flowing, the same depth, enrichment and everything else I loved from the first books is still there and just like in the first 3 books, we still do see bits of the “other guys” aka The Rock Run River Fadas, further proving that this IS all one big happy, passionate series! With the complex characters, intriguing storylines, perfectly detailed descriptions and the privilege to experience it all through both Jace & Evie's point of view, I was living this story with, for & AS both of them and thoroughly enjoying getting to know The Baltimore Earth Fadas! Everything I have mentioned, and everything I haven't, blends beautifully & perfectly together to deeply enrich and enhance this book, transporting me into it so completely I felt like I could see, hear, smell, feel & live everything as it happened! Rebecca is one phenomenally talented author with the true, strong, exceptional Gift of Storyteller! (If you haven't already read the entire series, I personally recommend reading them in order as it will deeply enhance the Reading Experience! However, they can also be enjoyed on their own too.)
Saving Jace: A Fada Novel Book 4 The Fada Shapeshifter by Rebecca Rivard ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a phenomenal read. This is the fourth book in this series. Where each book can be read as a standalone. I have now read and enjoyed two books in this series. When I receive this book on my reader I became very excited to read. But due to a injury it took longer than I expected to get around to reading it. But when I finally got to read it, the story is so much more than I could ever imagine it kept me turning page after page and I didn't want to stop until I finished reading it. I hope you enjoy this book and I wanted to share with you a small funny incident that happened while I read this book. I could actually be very happy if all I had to do is read and write reviews. I'm not sure how I would eat or where I would sleep but I can say I would consider myself in heaven. But life isn't only reading books. You see as I was reading Saving Jace by Rebecca Rivard and of it's getting to the best part, my hubby asked that age old question What's for dinner hon! Well I thought to myself not now please not now! Of course that didn't help so I switched from Text to Audio on my kindle so that I could listen to the story and not miss a word. I'm so grateful for technology. Because I really was enjoying this charming sensuous passionate story and it had just began to blossomed into the perfect Shifter human love match. This story features Jace Jones and Evie Morningstar. Jace is a Baltimore earth fada lieutenant, he is scarred by the deaths of his family, he has poured his soul into helping to rebuild his clan. Evie is a nursing student who is trying to raising her teenage brother while she is working one and half jobs and going to school. One night she finds a sexy shifter is stabbed just steps from her house. After saving Jace's life, their attraction is a slow build to a steamy relationship. Wo this story is so engaging, exciting full action and intrigue, if you are looking for a book that will hold your attention from the first page to the last. This book is what you want a awesome read. I am totally captivated by Saving Jace: A Fada Novel Book 4 it's well written and developed by a talented Rebecca Rivard. I receive this book and I volunteer to write a review because I enjoy communicating with my fellow readers. I highly recommend that you read this book. It's exciting and entertaining.
Right from the start Saving Jace transports you to a world filled with mystery, magic, and suspense. It goes beyond just being another shifter romance. Bursting with action and intrigue you not only fall in love with the characters, you fall in love with the entire world that is this book. Evie is a young woman loaded down with responsibility. With her mother and stepfather both gone, and a biological father who is a mystery and has never stuck around for long, it's up to her to raise her younger brother alone while working two jobs and going to school to become a nurse. When she finds an injured shifter on her doorstep after work and helps him everything she knows changes. Jace is an earth shifter, lieutenant to his alpha and a true warrior, he has survived the dark times of his people and is left with his young niece as his only surviving family. When he is attacked and left for dead he unintentionally brings Evie and her brother into his world and into the middle of a war.
So much about Jace just makes me completely love him. He has this quiet strength about him. He's every bit a warrior and definitely an alpha male, but he's not loud about it and shouting it every where, very much like the jaguar that he is. Despite his warrior ways he's incredibly gentle and kind with Evie, and even her brother, throughout everything. His gentle strength, loyalty to those he loves, and fierce protective streak melted my heart. Evie herself was a bit of a mystery and I was on the edge of my seat desperate for answers just as much as she was throughout this story. She was such and genuinely brave and loving woman that I was immediately drawn to her. I found myself not only rooting for them as a couple, but also rooting for Evie to find the truth of herself.
Aside from the twists and turns that kept me on pins and needles, the romance between Evie and Jace had me melting all over the place. Both sweet and steamy they made a couple you can't help but fall for.
This is the first book I've read by Ms. Rivard and I definitely will be reading more by her. This is a riveting story about Jace Jones, an earth Fada Lieutenant to the Baltimore clan, and Evie Morningstar, just a human or that is what she has been led to believe.
Jace gets jumped outside of a bar by night fae and is gravely injured. He stumbles into Evie's backyard to hide near her a porch in the shadows. When Evie stumbles upon him she knows what he is just not which animal he turns into. Humans were always taught to be leery of anything supernatural because they possess more strength and supernatural powers. Evie takes a chance on Jace and has her brother, Kyler, come and help drag him into the house. Evie has the weight of the world on her shoulders caring for her teenage brother when her mom and stepfather died. Her biological father is in and out of her life and he doesn't seem to age when he shows back up.
Jace has lived through the Darktime and has not come out unscathed. His only surviving relative is his niece Merry and she doesn't even live with him. She lives with her adoptive parents which are water fada. Jace chooses to leave her there because she is protected.
Fate keeps Jace and Evie crossing paths. Jace convinces her that he can protect her and her brother better in Baltimore in his den with five other male shifters. When Evie's brother is threatened she goes all Mama bear to protect him trade places with him to go with the evil night fae. Will Jace get to Evie in time to save her or will Fate take his mate away?
I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves paranormal romance. This book is filled with mystery and intrigue in so many twists and turns it kept me on edge the entire book.

Wow! Saving Jace kept me on the edge of my seat. The author sends us on an magical adventure into the paranormal world of shapeshifters with twists and turns as it spins a web of mystery, suspense, betrayal, love and hot sex scenes. Evie Morningstar works hard to take care of herself and her younger brother since the death of their mother. Her life will change forever when she decides to help a wounded non-human man who is bleeding to death on her front porch. Evie will also learn secrets of her past Jace Jones is a fada black panther shapeshifter who was attacked by three dangerous night faes. He ends up on the front porch a human fighting for his life. He fought through the Darktime, which left him scarred, but at this point, his only need for survival is for his niece, Merry. This is the first book I've read in this series and I will definitely be reading more of this series by this amazing author! I'm volunteering an honest review for an advance reader's copy.
Jace Jones still feels the guilt of not having to protected his sister all those years ago, because of his misplaced prejudices regarding her chosen mate The only thing that keeps him sane is the knowledge that he still has Takiro's daughter, his niece whom he sees on a regular basis. She was found and adopted by the Water Fada Alpha after her father Silver illegitimate son of the Dark Fae Prince was killed and is loved as their own. She turned out to be a Black Cougar Earth Fada like her mother and him.
On one of his visits close to where his niece lives, he is attacked and finds himself saved and in the arms of an angel Evie Morningstar. Worst is that his beast is purring in her presence which is a bad thing since he swore to never mate a human. Now his Alpha is giving even more disturbing information about his human.
Evie Morningstar is in for some very surprising information about her progeny.
Title: Saving Jace Series: The Fade Shapeshifters Book: 4 Author: Rebecca Rivard Genre: Paranormal Romance Release Date: September 25, 2017
Rebecca Rivard is a new to me author. Let it be known that I will be going back and reading her previous books. I loved the story building this author does.
Evie lives with her younger brother Kyler trying to raise him the best she can while working 2 jobs and going to school to be a nurse. One night she finds a Fada named Jase on her back stoop nearly dead. Fada are part Fae part animal shifter.
The main part that I like about this world Rebecca has built are the humans know all about the Fada and Fae. There is danger ad suspense and hot smexy times in this story.
This book is a standalone within a series.
I highly recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
An amazing tale of fantasy, magic, and soulmates…Rebecca Rivard delivers it all…
What do you get when you crack open the pages of Saving Jace by Rebecca Rivard? You get a tantalizing tale of action, adventure, magic, mystery, and yes….shifters! Paranormal romance is a favorite of mine, and shifter tales rate near the top of that list. Ms. Rivard delivers a fantastic world for shifter lovers like myself, filling it with heart, soul, love, passion, and plenty of edge-of-your-seat action. The storyline and plot are unique, and the world created is unlike any other I’ve read. Dark and tortured pasts collide, and fantasy becomes reality in the same breath. The characters are enchanting, their personalities making them unforgettable. A truly sexy tale, in a world that I look forward to returning to soon.
This was the first book that I read by this author and I absolutely loved it. I need to read the others ASAP. Jace is visiting his niece and is attacked and left for dead. He finds himself being saved by a human woman named Evie. Evie is raising her younger brother on her own and now her and her brother are pulled into Jace's shifter world. Jace and Evie have some undeniable chemistry together. Jace doesn't want to be attracted to her because she is a human but his cat wants her so that's that Also, he lost his sister because of his prejudices so maybe he should be more open minded. I really loved being a part of this journey and seeing this shifter world that Rebecca Rivard has created, she put a nice, unique twist on things that you'll love!!
Every one of the books in this series is so exciting because you never know what is going to happen. They really need to catch the bad guys but then that would make for a exciting story. Do be surprised if you find yourself tearing up a little as you read this because you will have some of your emotions come to the surface. It hay I did t want to throw things at Rebecca this time...lol
Reading this story you can feel everyone's prejudices about certain kind of people and you can feel the internal struggles they go through to fight those prejudices. You will truly enjoy this story just like I did. I cannot wait to read more of them.
Fourth book in a great series. The Fada are a type of shifter. Jace is an Earth Fada that can turn into a black jaguar. Evie and her brother save Jace. But their whole world will changed now that their lives are now endangered.
This series is just great. Each book has a specific person we follow but so many others are in it. I love that it can be a stand alone but is best read in order. It is a great series for any PNR. I’ve loved all the characters and am always hooked for the next one.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
Another great addition to the series! I love how the bigger story is twisting and unfolding! It's so crazy! I definitely can't see what happens next with that! The characters were independent, strong and sexy. I loved the tension and chemistry between them. I enjoyed how fast-paced the story was, there was never a dull moment. I can't wait to read about the other characters as well as the story! I voluntarily reviewed an arc from the author.
There are Fae, Humans, and Fada. Fada are a mix of fae, human, and animal, also know as a shifter. There are those that live on land known as earth fada like bears, tigers, panthers, etc. Those that live in or near water are know as river fada like sharks, dolphins, etc.
Jace is an earth fade-black jaguar-that was attacked an injured when he meets Evie-a human. She saves him with the help of her little brother. Unfortunately she gets caught up in a fight against an evil fae prince.
Saving Jace: A Fada Novel (The Fada Shapeshifter Series Book 4)
I absolutely loved this book, it is your typical love story NOT— I’m not sure how many twists and turns I actually read but it’s safe to say it was more than 4. The fact that the story brings you to the conclusion that shifters & faeries do exist is something in its self. This is one book I will/have recommending to anyone I can.
A well written story that will suck you in & keep the pages turning. Jace & Evie have to overcome a lot of differences & doubts to be together. A unique & engaging adventure that shows family isn't always by blood.
Good world building. I enjoyed the characters. However, I thought there was too much detailed sex that could have been left out or minimized and spent with the two main characters actually getting to know each other as people.
Lots of shifter books out there, but this series feels different. Maybe because in most series, the books center on one group, with interaction maybe with one other group. This series has two different types of shifters, land based and sea based. Plus 3 different types of fae, one good, one bad, and one that has not had much interaction in the books I have read so far. My point, there is a lot of diversity and a lot happening. It definitely keeps my interest.
I enjoyed reading this book, even tho I didn't realize that I started with book 4! I think everyone who reads this book will enjoy it! I Loved the chemistry between Jace and Evie. Definitely a book I recommend!
