The Missing One

Rate this book
When young nurse Rita Sutter is found dead in her apartment with no murder weapon in sight, there is only one clue left at the scene of the the blood-spattered photo of a woman no one recognizes. As it turns out, she just might be the prime suspect.

Detective Lohan, a grizzled veteran on the force, begrudgingly takes on the case as a way of breaking in his young partner, Detective Sam Root, who has little experience and even less sense. But Sam’s fresh eyes may come in handy as the two detectives soon realize there is a lot more to this crime than they initially suspected. Then, Rita’s body goes inexplicably missing from the city morgue, and events take a sinister—and deadly—turn.

Yet the more Detectives Lohan and Root delve into the case, the more questions seem to pile up. With a bitter ex-husband and a therapist who describes her as blatantly evil, Rita’s past isn’t exactly straightforward. She had so many enemies, the killer could be anyone.

As both Detective Lohan and Detective Root fight to remain focused on the case—and not their drama-filled personal lives, what with Lohan’s cheating spouse and Root’s ragingly possessive boyfriend—even more secrets emerge, and darkness threatens to consume them.

Will they eventually find Rita Sutter’s body? Or is she actually still alive?
