"Chill: Come inside my head..." ended up being a really good anthology of short stories written by Angela Peach. The book is a good price anyway but it's also in the Kindle Unlimited program if you want to get a taste for Peach's darker side.
The anthology has seven stories that all touch on horror, paranormal, or have a twilight zone type vibe. I think when it comes to this author one of her talents is tapping into real sociopathy and mental disorders that echo real-life people which makes the stories more sinister.
I wouldn't say the stories aren't predictable because I did happen to guess the twist in three of them but that didn't lessen the quality of their execution.
The stories included are: 1) Lighting the Gas 2) Following My Sister's Footsteps 3) On the Menu 4) Child 5) Kill Hil 6) The Epic Sulk 7) Gameboy
My *favorite* story in the collection, and what I thought was worthy of five stars, was also the one I was most repulsed by: "On the Menu". I found it to be the darkest, most gag worthy tale. Seriously, I wanted to hurl. There's a reason I'm vegan.
"Kill Hil" is a 1950s story and it was my second favorite because of the dialect, the twist, and the "wait a second!" I was left with. I had to think about this one.
But, all of them are very good to great and take 15 minutes or less to read each one. This can be read any time but it would be especially good around Halloween to set the mood.
This is Angela Peach's book. They are usually mindducking awesome and sometimes even creepy and scary. Reading her books is a unique and extraordinary experience. They are dark, entertaining and twisted, with screwed up individuals, idealistic and scarred people. Real characters, that you can’t help but root for, despair, and get angry at.
This one is the same. Scary and addictive, unique and paranormal, but in the meantime so damn much realistic. It doesn't pull any punches -The victims are going through hell.
Okay just so we are clear, this book is disturbing. Like pee/shit in your pants disturbing! Some scenes, if you imagine them in your head, can guarantee you staring at your ceiling instead of sleeping. For those of you who have read Peach's books, you already know the woman does twisted like no other female author, besides LaShea, in the thriller genre.
A fast-pacing, gripping, unique and just plain awesome stories. Peach proves once again that she just got it. Taking a risk, staying true and depicting multi-layered complex characters. She is not in for the fleeting thrill of the scare either. She searches deep, in the dark corners of the human soul that hide monsters more fearsome than zombies or ghosts. She has a talent of making us root for the villain, the unconventional, the anti-heroines if you prefer. This novel has it all, and YOU have no excuse not to read it. The haunting, chilling setting will keep you glued to the pages, tearing your eyes away only to look over your shoulder, hoping not to see a set of pale, evil eyes staring right back at you.
I highly recommend this to fans of the Double Bs - Beers and Brayden.
Warning 1. Do not read on the couch, find something with a seat belt, I read it on the plane - got me some extra attention from the cabin crew. 2. Combining the reading session with alcohol can have unpredictable, unwanted and dangerous effects.

I would like to thank Alexis for reading/reviewing this. 4↉ for this interesting anthology.
The first two or three short stories in this seriously disturbed and had me uneasy hence the 3 stars - would I read them again - no - but they definitely had me uneasily engaged and distracted from the craziness and uncertainty of real life. The author has the ability to creep me out and have me tight with tension when it comes to her work.
Turn off the lights, play the audio in the link below and then start reading this book. Those familiar with Angela Peach's writing know how scary some of her stories and characters can be. This is a collection of seven short stories that offer a variety of the most evil, insane and terrifying individuals that humanity (?) has to offer.
My favorites were Lighting the Gas and Gameboy. For me these were the real horror stories because these are the maniacs you see on the news and have trouble believing because their crimes are so heinous. However, this may sound surprising but the end of The Epic Sulk actually made me laugh. I'm a little worried what that says about me to be honest :)
Make no mistake though, every story in this anthology will creep you out in its own unique way. If you're a horror fan or just curious about Ms. Peach's writing, you won't want to miss this.
Oh gosh! What the hey did I just read! I can't believe I finished reading it! Angela Peach really managed to write a worst-case scenario story. My heart was in my mouth when I reading this book. After finished reading this book I ended up with untouched dinner.
