Commanders Mate
While they were fighting the Consortium's war against the Sargus Empire far from their home world, the Sargus Empire attacked Farseek, leaving mass destruction in its wake. Only about a dozen survivors remained to tell what happened - a dozen of over a million. Those who weren't killed were taken to become slaves of the Empire. As the story opens, Commander General Zared Maktu has found the piles of wreckage that is all that's left of his family's neighborhood.
Nothing the Consortium has to offer can compensate what was lost. Time for the company of Farseek Dreadnought One to make a new plan. They must find those who were taken alive and bring them home. After terminating their contract with the Consortium, they take a job to rescue a governor's daughter stolen to be sold into slavery.
Commander Maktu doesn't just rescue the Governor's daughter and her companion. He and his company take all the 100 abductees from the auction house. Only two are from Farseek, but there are four unusual females from a planet called Earth - and one of them is his fated mate Harper Avery. Things heat up from there...

This is the first book in a new fated mate series by this author. The book is a quick and easy read that is very entertaining. The world and characters are detailed to give the reader a better feeling for the story.
While away fighting a war for the Consortium the Farseekan homeland was decimated and its people killed or taken as slaves. Commander Zared Maktu and his fellow warriors are going to get them back. Harper Avery an Earthling kidnapped by Sargus slavers finds out that we aren't alone in the universe. What a way to find out on her way to possibly becoming a sex slave in a far galaxy. Before the auction though she and a number of other women are rescued by Commander Maktu and his men. Farseekan's identify their solmatu's or fated mates by smell and at first sniff Zared knew Harper was his solmatu. The beginning of a war was definitely not the best time to find one's soulmate.
Zared and his people have a long hard road ahead of them so will his burgeoning relationship with Harper suffer? Can and will Harper accept Zared and his solmatu relationship in stride along with everything else going on? What's in store for the Farseeken people and their world? Many questions will need to be answered. I'm looking forward future books in this series by Ms. Lake. This quick and funny story is entertaining and you should get your own copy to see what I mean.

The Destiny Of The Farseek Mercenaries🐺🔪🔫
I like that the book is written in dual POVs. Most of the editing problems have been corrected. Recommend!
Commander Zared🐺🔪🔫 is an Uato from Farseek. He is also the Commander General of the ground forces of the Farseekian Brigade. He is a huge bluish skinned humanoid man, a warrior. He is second in command to Admiral Degatu🐺🔪🔫 on the huge Consortium starship he is stationed on.
While they were defending the Consortium worlds from the invading alien Sargans, the Sargans👹 killed almost every inhabitant of Farseek. The planet is in ruins. Zared's home is gone.
The Farseekian Warriors🐺🔪🔫 on the ship decide to withdraw from the Consortium and become mercenaries. The Consortium needs them to operate the battleships, so there will be little consequence from their defection, except the need for monetary support from elsewhere.
Harper💋💔 is a young woman kidnapped from Earth🌍 and taken light years away to be sold into slavery. There are hundreds of humanoid women at the auction house, including some Farseekian women.
Zared🐺🔪🔫 and his men attack the auction world🌍 to get back the Farseekian women and his eyes find Harper💋💃 amongst the various females. He knows at once she is his fated mate💘. He raises the visor on his armour 's helmet, and her eyes meet his for the first time. Mates💘 for life.

There are several xxx scenes, so this is Adult Sci-fi!

Welcome to the world of Farseekinans, were aliens will rescue all those enslaved and maybe get lucky enough to find their Solmatu.
Ms. Quinn wrote a good story, a story of alien abduction that lead to being saved by different aliens. Jared people have been attacked and enslaved and their world razed while they were out fighting for the Consortium.Farseekian will become mercenaries to get their people back and rescue all the save. Zared meets his Solmatu or lifemate, during the rescue of slaves from a mining post. Harper and Zared will stand together with the remaining Farseekians and save their people. I will have to say that Ms. Quinn needs some help with her proofreading, it was hard to figure out if the Farseekians were fighting the Sargus, Sargan Empire. I am not clear right now what the name of the enemy was. There were many of these mistakes, which had me going back and forth trying to figure things out, but it won't stop me from reading the next book in thd series.All in all it had a good plot line, a great romance between to two leads and had me looking for book two.

Zared Maktu Commander of a Farseek Brigade's mission is to rescue slaves from his home planet.
While he and his men fought to protect the Consortium interest his home planet, Farseek was destroyed and the people the didn't kill they sold as slaves. They went to the Ursaga Auction House and rescued 200 kidnapped aliens. Harper Avery from Earth was one of the aliens. When Zared comes in to tell everyone the plans for them Zared scents he fated mate and Harper is drawn to the Commander. This was a fun read. The love story is sweet and the mission of the Farseek Mercenaries is very dangerous. I like now and then to read on the lite side. Love this and looking forward to reading more in this series.

“Commander's Mate” has the makings of an interesting read - it isn't.
It's a bare bones alien abduction tale, followed by rescue and an instant bonding.
Using the tried and tested 'Soulmates' option allows the author to head straight for sex.
The author, Clarissa Lake, has a problem with the concept of time - the books bounces between tenses like the present exists only in an alternate universe.
And it could do with a much better edit.
I've reviewed a lot of books and I often suggest that the author is capable of much better – this, sadly, is not one of those times … it's mediocre on every level.

It could have been good
This story had potential.... however I could not finish it because the editing was wretched. I usually just ignore and read through typos but this was a bit more than that and at times I couldn't follow the story. It switched between tenses from one sentance to the next. But anyway like I said I think this story could have been an enjoyable read it I hadn't had to use so much brain power autocorrecting as I went along.

Good storyline. But i was expecting so much more from it. The repetition from both harper and jared do get a bit tedious after a while. Has the potential for a great sci fi romance, guy meets girl, has that insta love that i enjoy reading and of course who doesn’t like a bit of steam. Add in space travel and aliens and you have the backbone of a great read. I gave it 3 stars only because i cant give half stars.

To start with, I need to be fair and say I stopped this early, so it may have gotten better..
But this was too stiff and report like for my taste.
It wasn’t bad exactly, it’s just I didn’t feel anything, from any of the characters.
They all seemed so blasé about everything.
Even when the MMC was supposedly yelling out in fury and pain, I didn’t see it or feel it.
This was all tell, no show. Not for me.

Great Story
This story had all things going for it a great plot really great characters and a great theme but it left me feeling empty it got my attention but evoked no feeling as I read it I already purchased the next two books I’m hoping they are written more passionately. I know though that I could not have written even this story let alone a better on

Enjoyed the story
What I didn't enjoy was the way the story was told. It was too dry, I understand that it was supposed to be like reading the combined journals of the events as the characters experienced them. Will try more by this author as I did enjoy story and maybe something else will be more engaging to me.

Earth women abducted from earth and about to be sold into slavery are rescued by handsome hulking aliens, little did the commander know that he was about to meet his soul mate. when he meets Hannah he is immediately drawn to her and she to him. This is a lovely story i can t wait to read more in this series.

Sex"y" Fated mate
Sex ,sex and more hot sex! Hot sexy aliens and villainous enemies that make North Korea look cuddly. I think Clarissa Lake / T.J. Quinn has a winner. Loved it looking forward to the next book.

This was a good book. There were some typos and name mix-ups, but still a good read. Note though that this is pretty much an "insta love" book with a HEA, so if those don't appeal, you may not like this book.

i didn't like this book the characters where bad and i didn't like there motivations or how they through about things. after the half way point i ended up skimming because i just couldn't take reading it anymore. :(

The story is well written and engaging. I would have gone higher on the stars if there had not been as many spelling issues. I really liked the story, just feel the book needed better editing.

Good steamy romance. While I am not ordinarily a "steam" fan, this was a good story with interesting characters, and I look forward to Book 2!

The concept is great. I don't know if this is an early work of the author but it could really use some editing. I've read other books by this author and didn't notice so much grammar and word issues that threw me out of the story.

This is my first book from this author. I found it on KU under my recommendations, and I really liked the blurb, so I decided to give it a try, BIG mistake; the only thing good about this book is the actual blurb. This book is so boring!!! is like a big never ending epilogue. the H and h get together by approximately 10 % into the story with no drama or conflict. He goes "you are my soul mate" and she's like "ok, I don't really love him or anything but he is hot enough" that is it. from there on there is only sex and happiness and love, there is no action or nothing, and I mean nothing! there not a thing going on but the happy life of the H/h.
I don't know, maybe I'm spoiled, but I like action and adventure during the whole book ( or at least 75% of it) I need my characters to fall in love during conflict. who wants to read a never ending happy story from the beginning?
Anyways, that's me, I someone is able to finish this book, please let me know. I just can't take it.
