Child abuse, kidnapping, torture, and rape.

Kindle Unlimited
Warning: Pick a trigger ... any trigger. (Book and possibly review)

Normally, I would just pass on rating and reviewing a book when I don't personally like where an author takes a story. But I would have really appreciated it if someone would have at least hinted at the abuse level.

Pardon the spoilers. A little girl is abused by an aunt. The aunt finally has rogue wolves kidnap her so her son can become pack alpha. The rogues are supposed to kill the child but they torture, rape, keep her in an undersized cell, and starve her. Graphic, detailed, descriptions. She escapes after 10 years and is found by her mate. She's so growth stunted that her wolf is dormant and shifting could kill her. Her alpha cousin, Dante, shows up and she is invited to her old pack to reunite with her family. Although Dante knows what his mother did, there's no security and Aunt Molly walks right up and stabs her with a kitchen knife. So much for her Luna guard, protection detail, and concerned cousin. Aunt Molly is supposed to be in a cell. Of course, on the day Grace is supposed to be returning to her new pack, she's totally alone in the pack house common area where one of her rogue captors has walked right in, chloroforms her, abducts her (no one notices - including her linked mate), and takes her where a totally free Molly is waiting to take another shot at killing her. Again, so much for her Luna guard, protection detail, and pack security. This time Grace is so injured her wolf dies completely, she'll never shift, and there's an almost total memory wipe. But it's okay 'cause James loves her, still has his mate and she can still make alpha babies. And Dante is such a great alpha... SAY WHAT?!?!?! He let her get stabbed and abducted in the pack house. He let Molly escape. Aunt Molly might, or might not have been killed, but she totally got her son made alpha and succeeded in neutralizing and brutalizing Grace.

Forget the huge plot holes, this just left me feeling really crappy. Dang! I wish I could unread this book.

"You are mine. I am yours. And it's going to be like that for the rest of our lives."

Silent Luna is another werewolf book that Kindle Unlimited has recently recommended to me. If you want a book that is mostly about child abuse, kidnapping, torture, rape, and with a dash of memory loss then this book is for you.

I felt that the author did not realistically portray someone who had been kidnapped, raped and abused since she was eight. For ten years. I knew it was going to be fluff after the scene when he brings her home and she has a tickle fight with him while she's naked in the tub. Okkkaaaaayyyy. Right.

Also, first saying James has black eyes, then green eyes that match hers, then chocolate brown.... which is it? The book was full of inconsistencies. Along with her talking, then she doesn't talk, then she does...

It had a TON of potential. However, it needed refinement. It needed depth. It needed consistency.

The couple: James and Grace

Romance trope: fated mates; shifter
Length: 236 pages

Plot: Grace was kidnapped by rogues when she was young and has been held captive for ten years. She finally escapes and is found by James and his pack. James is the alpha and recognizes her as his mate. She doesn't talk though and isn't ready to share the details of her captivity. But James is patient and will help her heal and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Commentary:
So I don't know why I keep doing this to myself. I don't like new adult stories and I keep ending up with new adult stories. I love shifter stories but I don't think they match well with new adult stories. In fact, the new adult-ier the story, the wimpier the shifters seem to be. It's across the board, not just this story. I'm not sure who started the trope of having the very young new alpha take over for his parents when he's barely 22 and the parents are in their 40s, but I hate it. There's no reason an alpha, in the prime of his life, with experience and strength behind him, would hand over the leadership of the entire pack to a wet-behind-the-ears wolf with no proven track record, no mate, no experience with pack politics, etc. They always try to make it seem like he's the most feared alpha, but honestly, it's like electing a 23-year-old kid as president. They'll get experience eventually, but what has to suffer in the meantime? There are things between baby and ultimate leader.

Making them both virgins is cute, but it definitely doesn't make James seem more alpha. There was a cartoonish villain with a limited motivation. I like the trope of the mute heroine - sometimes I wish the heroine would stay like that. I like that the fated pairs could control themselves enough that they didn't jump straight into bed, even of they wanted to.

The story had potential, but it was very wattpad-ish. That's not necessarily bad - it just means that it needs some development/polish.

Grammar/formatting: a few misused words

Silent Luna is about a young woman who has been through a lot, and ends up not talking. Now, things get more complicated when she ends up finding her mate, but she doesn't understand it.

This book was okay. There were a lot of mistakes, and I feel like it didn't end in a good way, but other than that it was interesting.

what??

This one boggled me. It was cute, but it felt open-ended and choppy. Lots of unresolved scenes and then the story abruptly ends. There’s no closure and your left with more questions than answers.

Nonsensical and repetitive

Okay, I hate to do a review like this because writing is hard, and this author had the guts to put herself out there, so bravo for that. However, this story is a nonsensical mess, a nonsensical mess that plays on a loop. Basically, it is the heroines trauma after some serious abuse discussed endlessly. There is no real romance. And, she faints and cries A LOT. I am talking fainting goat reactions. I mean, of course, righ? Crying is to be expected...to a normal degree. But, that's all there is to really know about her! The end.

I was really excited to read this book as I haven’t read a new good werewolf book in a while now but this one wasn’t any different.

The writing was really bad as everything was dramatic and the characters’ personalities would be all over the place as one second it was said that they were something and in the next second they do something completely opposite. For example one second Grace doesn’t want to speak as she’s too overwhelmed or intimidated and the next she gives a whole speech. Also, one second she’s afraid of people (which is understandable after what she went through) and the next she’s going from person to person, acting comfortable with everyone. When there were different characters in the scene, they were always talked about in a vague way and most of the time it didn’t even say who Grace was with, it would just say that ‘everyone’ was doing something or that ‘the others’ left the room.

The plot could have been good but the way this whole book was written made me think that it was dramatic and most of the things that happened didn’t even really make sense as nothing was told in detail. For instance, Grace tells Dante shocking, even slightly unbelievable for him, news and he just goes along with it and accepts what she’s saying - . Another thing that wasn’t realistic was that when Grace goes back to her old pack, someone stabs her (how did they even do that when she was with her parents and James and the person wasn’t ever mentioned in the scene?) and everyone acts surprised when they hear that that person had something to do with Grace’s disappearance. Also, Grace and Dante recognise each other instantly and yet when Grace meets her sister, she greets her while looking around and thinking about how she would want to see her sister.

This book was ridiculous and didn’t make sense, another example:

The ending was overly dramatic and if it was a film, it would have all looked like awful acting .

This book could have been amazing in theory but nothing was developed, none of the characters had actual personalities and the scenes weren’t detailed.

I am being completely honest when I say this is in my top ten of wattpad books I have read, maybe even published and printed books.

It has an intriguing plot and main character that forced me to finish the book in a day because it hooked me in so much. I am REALLY looking forward to buying a copy

I'm going to give the full series the evaluation since I can't find the other's on goodreads.

I've listened to:

Silent Luna
Fatal War
Hidden Fox
The King's Flame
Lost Princess

I'd give it an overall of 2.5.
It felt to much rushed at times and that people where going trough motions. Also not enough time given to process serious trauma and it's like they're not real people and are supposed to get over things asap. It breaks the connection to the story...

Also, kind of SPOILER for one of the last books... No mother/parent would just go shopping after having lost their child and think that they deserve that day... On the same note, after having found the kid they wouldn't hug the sister first and behave like that.

There are also plenty situations where it's given too much importance on smaller things while at the same time dismissing important things ( like the girls being literally r*****).

The stories have potential but they feel written by a really young person and they seem to be in need of some TLC.

Great Story & Audible Listen🎧 Captivating & Heartfelt!

Silent Luna
By: Sabrina Noury
Narrated by: Scottie Calif

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and held it to the very end. Sabrina Noury’s shifter story is original, it is imaginative yet she shows mostly the human side of the shifters. The characters are complex and well developed, they are easy to relate to and the world dynamics is easy to follow and understand. Grace is found in the woods outside pack territory, she was injured and in wolf form, not knowing how to shift back to a human. The shifters who find her coach her to shift back, she is weak and injured and the Alpha of the Pack, James, recognizes her as his mate. Grace was taken from her pack when she was eight years old and held captive by her captives and abusers for 10 years, she escaped her captivity but she can not escape her nightmares. I loved how patient James was with her, understanding that she suffered PTSD and had to win her trust. She did not speak yet he had little problem communicating with her. He was happy to have finally found his mate and was accepting of her regardless of what she had been through. She can only give him pieces of the puzzle of what happened to her and who she really is, when someone mentions a name of her past it comes back to her. I loved how everything plays out in this book, how they find out who she is and why she was taken and who was behind it. It is all plotted out nicely, there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, a bit of angst, lots of heartfelt and moving moments, some suspenseful moments and a slow burn romance between the Alpha and his Luna. I did feel the ending was rushed and while I liked how it ended I did not like how it came about, I feel like Grace missed her justice but then again maybe she didn’t and this was the best way to go for her, maybe I just missed my justice. LOL! This was my Sabrina Noury book and it will not be my last, thank you for this great story and the emotional rollercoaster ride. I am looking forward to checking out more of your work.

I listened to the Audible edition, Scottie Calif is a terrific narrator and voice artists. She does a great job portraying the characters, bringing them to life, giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart she puts into her work, she captures the character’s emotions and projects it into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen🎧

I really enjoyed this book the sweetness between James and Grace is so beautiful. Grace has alot of trama in her life. ⚠️Trigger warning ⚠️ of SA and physical, emotional abuse. But she does not go in to details about the SA she implies it and says very little about it. But because of this she has a lot of trama to work through and James her mate does a really good job of helping her and then later on alot of other supporting characters also help. The story is coming to a close and then
SPOILER ALERT ⚠️ the author has such a ridiculous ending in which the story did not need at all. That is the crazy thing. She was heading towards a perfect ending and then in that last chapter she just completely ruins it. So grace gets kidnapped by her horrible Aunt and then James rescues her. Grace hits her head and she is fine and then she turns in to her wolf. James is already there about to get to her. So no need for this extra drama. And her injuries are are not even that bad not anything worse than what she has already been through" but sapposingly this kills her wolf" What really!!!! But ok whatever she walked up with amnesia because when her wolf dies and as her wolf is dieing she erases all her bad memories so she can have a "normal life" . So yeah I get it she was tramitzed but by the author writing and having her memories of trama erased is like saying she is not strong enough to over come her trama. Also the importants of trama being told to your spouse and others is working through it together also creates intimacy and trust and this work can and are the building blocks of strong relationships. And so taking all this progress out just makes the story feel wrong. And yes this is a fictional story but by keeping these her memories in the story you see the I intimacy in the fictional characters which makes for a good ending. Also there was no reason for her to lose her memories became she was really workings through them and she was going to learn to fight with her sister and work throughher trama more. I just feel the end cheapened the quality of the story. It is still worth the read just don't read the last chapter. Oh and last thing there is no spicy scenes in the story it is just making out and some heavy petting and that is it. I am fine with this but others might me disappointed.

The Good: This is a fast read. If you like shifter books with some romance then this borderlines in that category. While Grace is a shifter the romance portion is understandably awkward and nearly not there.

The Bad: literally every aspect of Grace's life. She is kidnapped at the age of 8 and tortured for 10 years. She is beaten, cut and raped all while a young girl. It is hard to stomach this kind of violence. She finally escapes and meets her mate. She is dirty, underweight and silent because she learned not to talk. Turns out her aunt from her original pack is the one who had her abducted in the first place.

The Development: Lacking. We find out about her past but the rogues kind of get away with it for a few weeks after James finds out about what happened. He was a bit preoccupied worrying about her and trying to reconnect her with her pack once they realized his sister was now mated to that pack's alpha (Grace's cousin). Within minutes of entering the house with guards all around and her mate at her side her aunt just saunters in and stabs her with a kitchen knife. Cause you know...why not give her more to endure.

She recovers from her stabbing and finds out her sister who never gave up on her was now mated to her enforcer who was supposed to keep her safe from getting stabbed in the 1st place. She goes back to her family and reconnects and then upon getting ready to leave her mate James leaves her in her childhood room to gather a few things and surprise surprise...she'd abducted again. Cause why give this character a break at all. Turns out her aunt who was supposedly heavily guarded...escaped. Her mate does find her but she goes through so much trauma and tries to shift that her wolf died. DIED. Cause lets just add more anguish to this character. But wait there is more...when the wolf died it took all her memories with. Blessing or curse? Now she's mated but doesn't have a wolf. She doesn't know her mate or her family....they lead on to make you believe the aunt died but who really knows.

This book was just not great. It was full of pain and suffering with little hope for anything good. The good parts were 100% over shadowed by the terrible treatment and abuse and idiocy of the other characters.

Trigger warnings to the nth power on this one.

I absolutely HATED the ending of this book. I found it to be a complete cop out, and totally disrespectful to the main character and to anyone who has endured, fought, and overcome trauma. Not only was her past completely erased, but after everything she lost in her life to further take away and kill off her wolf and turn her into a human was just really a cruel way to end the story. Sure, she didn’t know what she lost, but I just don’t see this as a happy ending for this character. I was thinking throughout the story that this was a book about healing, but it’s not... because it sends the message that the only way to heal from trauma is to get amnesia.

I had a lot of other issues with this story. I hate when a character who was kidnapped as a child and kept in isolation comes back to society and is somehow miraculously at a level of adult understanding. There’s no logic or explanation for it. Bizarre story, truly. I generally like shifter books, but idk how much this can count as one since the FMC shifts once but then has no wolf connection and eventually loses the wolf permanently.

I listened to this in audio so I can’t comment on grammar/spelling, but the writing was juvenile at times. The FMC has some really vapid teen moments that felt out of place considering her background and character. There are also so many totally unnecessary and boring scenes where the author describes every detail. Like the mall shopping trip. I kept thinking something must happen because why else would I need every detail of their trip to the mall and who was in what car and when we got in and out of the car, but no. Just boring moments.

I was also really creeped out by the scene where the FMC is going on about how she has a child’s body and she doesn’t see how he could be attracted to her for the MC to then tell her how much he loves her body and how small she is. It was a weird comment and moment in consideration of her thought process. Maybe the author didn’t intend for it to come off that way, but it really does.

“You are mine. I am yours. And it's going to be like that for the rest of our lives.”

Taken at age eight, Grace Salva withstood torture and pain. Silent for nearly ten years, she is yet to find her voice again when a one night’s chaos allows her to escape only to end up in the strong arms of a dangerously beautiful Alpha.

From the moment James sees her, both the wolf and the man are keen to claim her. But James knows better, he needs to convince her that he is nothing like the savage rogues that exploited her, he has to gain Grace’s trust, and for him to do that, he needs to know more about her.

But how hard can it be to hear and understand her silence?

Scared and untrusting at first, Grace finally learns what it means to be the mate of her strapping yet gentle savior while battling with her own insecurities and fear of the new normal that is completely different from the horrifying life she once lived.

James gives Grace more than a sanctuary for her to heal her wounds and recover; he has given her a home, hope, and a chance to start anew.

But in his pursuit to uncover Grace’s mystery, will James push too far and bring back a painful past and lead her to the very monster who tormented his mate? Can Grace trust James with her life even after the betrayal of someone she considered as family?

I really love these types of stories the female character going through a bunch of bad shit only for it to make her stronger and this story was doing that.... but then it started to fall back down hill. Shit just kept happening every time she was starting to get a little better, something else would go wrong. So it was like two steps forward ten steps back. She would never get a break. Shit just kept piling on, she was captured again and then almost killed only for her to force change which almost killed her "again" which unfortunately ended in her losing her wolf and her memory. Why..... and to beat it all she didn't even get her memory back before the book ended or her wolf. Over half of this book was amazing but then the last 30-40 pages just failed for me.

I was intrigued by the idea of the book which urged me to pick it up, but it was honestly so bad.

The MC’s behaviour was not at all consistent with someone who was supposed to be abused for 10 YEARS! The author threw in a panic attack here and there with about a dozen hospital visits, because she collapsed for one reason or the other, and called it a day for the abuse but the whole story lacked depth and was very inconsistent. Then she talks then she doesn’t, then she trusts him wholeheartedly then she changes her mind out of nowhere and has a meltdown. It just was so terrible.

Don’t even get me started on the ending, she loses her memory? Really? It felt like the author was trying to fix her by taking away her traumas instead of letting her learn to love herself despite them. Instead of increasing the depth of the story and characters the author decided to take the easy way out. It felt really forced, tbh.

Also, can someone please explain to me why aunt Molly was able to stab her in a room filled people, most of whom knew Molly was the one that initiated her kidnapping in the first place? Why wasn’t she locked up when Grace’s cousin (the Alpha who should have full authority to do so) came back to the pack??? Not only that, but how the hell was she able to escape prison to kidnap and hurt Grace again? Is that pack so lacks with its security? Also how was Kyle able to get into the pack house filled with people to kidnap Grace once again without anyone noticing?

I really do not recommend reading this at all. Unless you like books that lack depth and have no actual plot, of course.

Saddest Story I've ever read

I almost didn't finish this book simply because of the rouges raping a young child. No it wasn't specific thank God . Grace was given to rouges by her aunt as an 8 or 9 year old . She was pretty much a slave for them. She finally had a chance to run away . Found by men from a different pack the Alpha was her mate as kind as he was to her. She had a hard time adjusting. Which anyone would considering what was done to her. I kept reading because I actually thought she would become stronger. Eventually adapt with the love she was getting from her mate and his kindness and seeing her family again. But the book was sorta slow paced, she really never got better until she woke from a coma after getting enough strength to fight off her mean aunt. But she never recovered her wolf . It died & she almost did also. She woke from her coma not knowing anyone or nothing of what happened. So all in all I was disappointed in most of the outcome. At least she did finally love her mate although she was Wolf less , she did decide to try forgetting it all and move on. Not one of my favorite books. Should of been an epilogue of 5 years later or something. I just can't get over the ugliness of her childhood. Her mate should of destroyed the rouges right off the bat. To much kindness there . I'm just saying .

2.5 stars

I love the 80% of this book. The system was well explained, quite detailed, and how the information was dropped was seamlessly done. Although throughout the book, we were always reminded how small the FMC is, I don't mind it and pushed through. I even foresee myself giving this a 4 stars for the 1st half. That's how I loved this book.

I had a connection with Grace (FMC), she's not relatable for me in any way, nor do I feel detached from her. She's just alright, just right. I realize that it was because we lacked detail of what truly happened to her. Everything about her past is quite vague and shallowly explained, so although I connected with her, I didn't love her character building. It's lacking.

I love James (MMC). He's sweet, super understanding, and just gives retriever energy, which I enjoy, but the same issue with Grace, his character doesn't give anything intriguing. I love he's this reliable partner to Grace, but I can't really see how he's a reliable alpha.

There are also many characters that were left unused. The book doesn't tackle clearly why things happen, how exactly it happen, and etc. It doesn't explore any available path and just focused on their romantic relationship. There are many loose strings like how Kyle got away, or how Molly's reasoning on why she hates Grace is shallow as hell and was not thought out, or why the hell did Grace memories just disappear. I understand she's hurt bad, and it's a coping mechanism, but how can the meek and silent Grace flip 180 bother me.

It would be great if we saw how Grace's improves her relationship with Hazel, Rose, or any of her supposed friends. Or how she'll bond with her sister or family and mend the severed relationship between them. It would also be great if she had a redeeming arc where she becomes this reliable Luna to the pack. Or an epilogue that would give us some kind of closure, something positive that would make the readers hopeful that she'll get better would absolutely improve this book.

This book had so much potential, but it ended before things got interesting. As mentioned previously, I wanted to give this book at least 4 starts. I was considering giving this a 4.25, but after chapter 30, I knew I would be extremely generous to give this anything exceeding 3.0 stars. Also, the epilogue or last chapter of this book made me want to scream. How could it end like that? Nothing was solved! Nothing was achieved! I feel like this is unfinished work, I was so frustrated I could cry.

So this wasn't bad honestly. Like many many books out there it could do with just a little more polishing but I really did enjoy the story. Apart from some parts.....like that she loses her memories so soon after finding her mate. I think that's a little too much, I mean we need suspense and action to fill those spaces but infinite amnesia is not the way to do it and force the mc to move past her issues. One of the big reasons I like to read books with previously abused female mc on occasion is because I have been and the healing process that each person goes through is different, and that it's liek you get to go through a mini healing experience all over again if you are anything like me and are completely sucked in and consumed when reading. I did not enjoy the ending. I thought the little second book would give us the closure we wanted...NOPE it gives us no closure. She just shows us what happened while she was in a coma. Not ok Noury, the odds of you planning a second book was pretty slim because you tied up almost all loose ends and even gave her amnesia so she was magically healed of her PTSD and triggers without a lot of the work for it. But anyway it was still a nice little read.

1.5 just because I finished it 🧐
Here’s the thing, the writing of this book was so immature that if it wasn’t for the child rape and abuse, kidnapping and torturing of an 8 years old girl that lasted for over 10 years, I would have said that this book was targeting teenagers!
For instance, both alphas in this book where around 20 to 22 years old...The heroine was 18 or almost 18 and the hero’s sister who is married to the other Alpha is around that age as well and she is already married and pregnant! One of the secondary characters Hazel is also 22, married and has a daughter who is four years old...! What?

There are 32 chapters in this book, half of them in the same way, with the heroin experiencing some sort of shock or getting hurt and then fainting for quite a while sometimes for a week... it kind of gets old after the second or third time...eye roll

Another thing is that being werewolf doesn’t really factor into the story, the characters could all have been humans and the story plot would have been the same!

The crying! Oh my god the crying! So much crying!

The ending was so not conclusive! She just looses her memory...that’s it. The frogging end.

What in the world was that? There was so much scope for this to be an epic survivor story for our h whilst alongside her the H could have been a great romantic and supportive partner, unfortunately absolutely none of that came to be. The h lost 10 years of her life to brutality, abuse and rape for then to lose both her memories AND her wolf. Disgusting wrap up.
As for her aunt, we don't even know if she's dead, but she got everything she wanted really. Her son's the alpha while the rest of the family have left him the pack completely and not one member objects to that? And then we're not even told what happened to the guys that abused her for all those years either. It's like the author thought 'oh goody she can't remember so it never happened.' Um the world doesn't work like that.
My gosh this book was all kinds of messed up. Oh and if the author was thinking an abuse victim is better off without his or her memories, bull****. I'm a child abuse victim myself and I'm offended by that. I'd never choose to cut out those memories. Not because I'm happy it happened, it was all an terrible nightmare, but rather because those events make me who I am today.

Don’t waste your time!

H-James
h-Grace
We meet grace who was kidnapped for almost 10yrs since she was 8 years old. She was a physically (raped & hit) & mentally abused. While being kept by rouges she was malnourished & because of that she never shifted since she was sooo small in size that shifting could of killed her (we found out later on). She finally got free & she met her mate James who is an alpha. You would think this is when the story gets good & pick up momentum WRONG! Grace is either crying or unconscious. Once she trusted James all we got was heavy kissing… nothing more. I guess they did something but the author never really went into details about it. We find out that all this happened cause her aunt wanted her son (Grace cousin) to be come the alpha. I feel like the story had a lot of potential but it felt sooooooo flat it was not even funny! At chapter 30 (remember this book has 32 chapters- with no SEX) she gets kidnapped yet AGAIN by the exact same people… like for real. There is no drama or obstacles to overcome other than Grace-crying, afraid or unconscious.. rinse & repeat throughout the whole story! Such a waste I felt!

I really enjoyed this book. The story was nice, the characters were interesting. But what ruined the experience was the ending. She lost her memory when he wolf dies to "protect" her and help her heal from her trauma. But it isn't healing if she is forced to forget.... And she still has all the scars from what she went through. It doesn't take a genius to look in the mirror and see that she was obviously tortured. Plus the fact that tic-tac-toe is literally CARVED into her? Like she knows that she didn't have that done for enjoyment. It just kind of took away from all the crap she went through. And it was annoying that it was literally the END of the story. She was getting her happy ending. Getting everything she missed out on. And then she forgets everything? I am glad that the author let her share her memories with her mate beforehand so that he could show them back to her, but I don't know.. it really just took away from all that she survived.

Can we also talk about how many people were standing there when she got stabbed? Like literally her mate and a guy whose purpose is to protect her are right next to her and she still manages to get stabbed? Please....

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS BOOK.

1. First off, why is he calling her babe every 2 seconds?? It pissed me off ffs. Every bloody sentence.

2. This is one of the WORST books I have ever read. She passes out every chapter, It’s cringey, and ends up forgetting who she is and everything she knows.

3. The lack of logic and effort/research in this book SHOWS. It is one of the most poorly written and unrealistic books known to man, It’s borderline OFFENSIVE (besides the werewolves which were expected). After being held captive, abused, Mentally, Physically AND sexually, for about 10 years, Grace is just normal and having sex and going about life as if nothing happened.

LIKE HELLO!???!?!?!?! This WOULD NOT happen in the space of less than 2 months. And for that it is so silly. Everyone heals differently, and some don’t heal at all from this trauma, BUT this WOULD NOT happen to anyone. No way would people be bussing it down 😏 after ONE MONTH of knowing someone and being free??

Don’t waste your time.

I listened to this in Audio and narrator Scottie Calif was so good at bringing the emotion to Grace's internal monologue.
Because of that it was hard at times to hear about what Grace had gone through while missing.

The experience is made easier by the nature of being with a fated mate. The instant connection between Grace and James made the the healing and moving on easier. His anger and guilt over things he had absolutely no control over was intense. But he was also very gentle, understanding and very restrained when needed. He just wanted to help Grace heal and be there for her in whatever way she needed. He was also very quick to put her at ease, to correct her thoughts of self-doubt and sense of being inferior due to her experiences.

The story alternated between stretches of slow burns and quick paced "what just happened" moments.

Overall, I enjoyed it and will listen to it again.

An Interesting Story

Kidnapped at eight years old and held captive for ten years Grace has led a desperately difficult life, taunted, tortured and worse she’s a traumatised young woman.

More than that she’s not just an ordinary woman, she’s a wolf shifter desperate to escape her cruel captors. When the rogues fight amongst themselves and one of the four men is killed she takes her chance and runs. Running as far and as fast as she can hoping that she can get far enough away.

As her strength leaves her and she collapses she has the comfort of knowing she can die free. Until a tall imposing man finds her.

Whilst this is essentially a romance it’s different than others in the PNR genre. It focuses mainly on the budding relationship between the two main characters. The poor woman does seem to spend a lot of time collapsing and being unconscious. Despite that it’s still an engaging entertaining read.
