5 Can't get enough stars

I voluntarily reviewed an early copy of this book provided by the author.

It feels like I've been waiting for this book forever - expectations met and surpassed. Arawn is patient, intense and arrogant. Maeve is reserved, kind and strong. Their journey together was playful, romantic, sweet and perceptive. It was also a journey of self discovery.

The author changes the setting with each book which keeps each story fresh and unpredictable. In her earlier books we have seen how modern demons function, the savage royal fae court and the witch community. With this book, we are placed in Arawn, the Demon Lord's domain and he keeps you guessing.

Usually, delicate issues are swept under the rug or characters miraculously recover - this is irksome. PTSD is explored with care and sensitivity in this story. I appreciate this.

Subplots are balanced beautifully by the author. There's the bargain between Merle and Arawn, Arawn's mysterious identity, unknown threats and escalating tension in the witch community.

The writing is vivid, beautiful - minor characters make a huge impact in their scenes. This is a rare series where the supporting characters are relevant and grab your attention. I'm curious and excited about what lies in wait for Bahram and Tallak.

Rhun is still incredible and swoonworthy.

I've read all the books in the series and I'm a huge fan. Every new installment makes the storyworld more rich and complex. Swoony Smurf approves.

Same problems I've has with the last couple of books in the series. I probably could have loved this couple more if I actually had more time with them, but there was just so much going on with them and then with the witches, and the romance aspect was lacking a little bit.

The couple I had hoped for them to get together.
The story was healing. There was enough feeling and there were strong characters. Tension was there.
However, it has changed back and forth too often for me because it was also about the other characters in some chapters and not just about the main characters. That's why the story wasn't deep enough.

First re-read: 2020
Second re-read: 2023

I kind of forgot how evil Arwan was before re-reading this series, this isn't a dark romance so he's not evil evil, but he's pretty bad. Like I love him, but he's definitely not a nice guy. He's obsessed with power, self-serving and ultimately cares very little for humanity. Does he still have a conscience? Yeah. Would a nice guy trap a woman into a deal that forces her to immediately give over her sister who's just been through one of the most traumatic experiences a human can endure to a man dubbed "the demon lord" all in the name of him acquiring more power? Definitely no. Did he make some concessions because he's patient (born from millennia of existence) and not the absolute worst? Yes. Did he ultimately trick Maeve into his service and severing the link to her family when she didn't have to come to him quite yet? Also yes. God that one hurt. *spoilers from book 3* I was so excited when Maeve started to gain some control over her life again and wanted to move back in with Merle and Rhun. She made so much progress and I really wanted her to get to bond with Rhun and be back home with her sister for a little while before going to Arwan 🥺 but it wasn't meant to be.

I definitely think Maeve was stronger than most people gave her credit for, but Arwan annoyed me by claiming the high ground all the time saying he knew that she could handle these things and that's why he didn't wait to claim her/pushed her into stuff before she was "ready" and then he had the nerve to say this to Merle:
"You messed with her mind when she already suffered manipulation worse than you can possibly imagine. You took away her choice."
She scoffed, her face a study in outrage. "That's rich coming from the guy who bought her with a bargain!"

Homie had no comeback to that, just conveniently ignored it and stuck to his self-righteousness 🙄 like yeah you love Maeve now, but stealing a traumatized woman from her family, severing her familial witch link/bond and "owning" her is like some pretty fucked up shit, not sure you have a leg to stand on there, buddy.

ANYWAY, I did really love this book and Arwan. I just have a soft spot for evil guys that are unapologetically evil, incomprehensibly powerful and have a seeeecret heart of gold. I vividly remember finally learning what kind of otherworld creature Arwan was while waiting at the California DMV for 4 hours for my new license😅 and being a little shocked, but loving that revelation/the world building it brought with it. I hope that Nadine explores that further as the series progresses. Ultimately though this book was a testament to Maeve's resilience and tenacity. Did I agree with all of Arwan's methods that were initially geared towards his goal of helping Maeve unleash her beast with the endgame of him having control over it/her power, but that ultimately helped heal her trauma as he fell in love with her along the way? No. However, you can't argue with results and I did love seeing Maeve come into her own, reclaim herself, her body and find her strength. There's also something special about the delicate, but strong women that corral the most powerful men without even trying. And let me just say thank god Arwan fell in love with Maeve or the world would be well and truly fucked *phew* like my man's really said 'okay I guess I won't kill all the humans cause you like them' 😰 ...that was a close one.

As in book 3 this book had dual storylines which I found very annoying lol I get that there's shit going down in the witch community and we couldn't just check out of that, but I wish the storylines could've overlapped more so it wasn't such a jarring switch between Merle's storyline and Maeve's all the time. That said I did like checking in with all the previous characters and setting up Tallak/Hazel more for the next book. The witch community needs a serious overhaul, I'm so fed up with them.

Like with book 1 I'm not sure if I read this book today that I'd give it 5 stars, but I don't change my initial ratings unless a book has really offended me or is much better than I remember so I'll stick with my nostalgic 2018 5 stars 😌 The epilogue was a nice little cherry on top of an intense, at times sad, book and I can't wait to see what all these characters are up to in book 5! FINALLY!!! because in case you haven't heard a million times by now, I've waited 5 years for this book😅

“«Ti vincoli a me, Meave Stregasola?».
«Allora ti rivendico come mia.»”

Bentornate Fenici!

“He did not,” Arawn snarled, his expression murderous.
She glanced up at him, cowered back a little.
“He did not take the best parts of you.” He glowered down at her, the rain quieting all around, as if the sky itself held its breath. “No one can. You are not some bloody treasure chest that can be looted.” He spat those words, dark power flaring out from him, making her breath hitch.

During this book there are multiple forms of mental illnesses as well as dark situations shown. Anxiety, PTSD, rape, abuse, and torture.
Our main character has gone through being kidnapped, raped, tortured and abused numerous times.
After surviving and escaping the hands of her tormentor she struggles with PTSD and crippling anxiety.

“Rhun might have ripped him to shreds, but no one could slaughter the memory of his voice.”

As someone who has personally been a victim, one of the worst things that can occur after everything is hearing the voice, over and over again. Even certain smells can trigger an attack.
I feel like I can relate to this character on a personal level.
Of going though all that trauma and still, rising above it. Finding the strength to overcome the fear. Not all of it, but even a tiny bit is more than enough.

“Fire needs air to breathe. And yours has been choked long enough.”

(TRIGGER WARNING!)

I voluntarily reviewed an early copy of this book provided by the author, and I have to say I absolutely loved it. Nadine Mutas hits out out of the park again with this soul searching, rising above and finding love, novel.
As with all her books in this series she weaves such an amazing story you won't be able to put it down! I dare you to try! The characters are so believable and you can't help but to cheer them on! And just when you think you have it figured out, Nadine throws you for a loop and you will love the ride! Laugh, cry, blush and everything in between!
You can totally read this book as a stand alone as all the blanks are filled in for the most part from the previous novels, but if you want the whole experience read them all, you won't be disappointed!

This book is Incredible.. I voluntarily Read an advanced copy of the book provided to me by the author .. I have read all books in the series, and this one for me has yet again out done all that came before.. Nadine has such a way with words, that you cannot help but get sucked into the story and feel as though you are an active part of this world. The back and forth in perspectives transitions so seamlessly. The witty back and forth banter and humor of these books is absolutely charming, a book has never made me cry but this entire series has. To Enthrall the Demon Lord is by far my favorite book of all time!

Received this book as an ARC. Gods this book was beyond my expectations! Meave and Arawn seemed like a very unlikely couple at first due to Meaves’ horrific past and Arawn owning her due to a bargain made with her sister yet the further along the story went the more it made sense. Nadine Mutas has written yet another perfect instalment in the Love & Magic series and I can’t wait to read more! I recommend you read the other books in this series before reading To Enthral The Demon Lord. Thank you Nadine for writing and sharing your words!!!

I read book 1 To Seduce a Witch's Heart and this one, the 4th book in the series, one after the other. While I liked Rhun and Merle's story --- mainly bec of how awesome Rhun was, I have to say that the story I loved more was this one --- Maeve and Arawn's romance. This one was a 5-star read for me. So so sooooo good.

At around 68% I skimmed / skipped thru until the end. I just couldn’t get into this story for some reason. I really wanted to, because it sounds like a good story about Maeve reclaiming herself and pulling herself up from the ashes and Arawn being his mysterious demon lord self. But I found myself uninterested and the story kinda boring. I liked the previous books, but for some reason I am just not feeling this one.

Benevolent demons, broken witches, ancient beasts and old gods elevate the journey these characters undergo to beyond that of just an author simply imbuing sheets of paper with spellbounding fantasy.Be warned though this tale echoes with the thoughts of multi players of books past in the series and of future potential storylines,so if that would not annoy you then you probably going to enjoy this fantasy as much as I have or maybe just bite the bullet and read the three that came before.

I volunteered to read an advanced copy of this book provided by the author. I discovered this author last year while on vacation and she has become one of my favorites. I have enjoyed all of the books in this series but she has surpassed herself with this one. Loved, loved, loved this book. To Enthrall the Demon Lord is well written with strong characters, that you wish were your friends. There's love, heartache and humor. This book is a thoroughly enjoyable read.

This story gobsmacked me straight in the heart.

Nadine portrays Maeve's struggles honestly, with respect, and realism.

And Arawn is that present you didn't expect but get to slowly unwrap with glee.

I bought this on sale and it looked like one I'd like. And I did! But as this is book 4, this really isn't a stand-alone story. There are characters and events from previous books that are brought up a lot. And the author did a fine job of explaining things so it makes sense, but I still felt like I was missing important things. It's probably best read as a series.

I did like the story. The h is still recovering from her kidnapping and torture by an evil demon. She sacrifices herself to the Demon Lord to save her sister's unborn baby. She is strong, brave and amazing. And the Demon Lord turns out to have a soft spot for your h. He is very patient and kind to her.

There is too much side drama from some witches that the sister deals with and some more side drama from another demon out for Arawn's territory. There was just too much going on. The romance is the strongest part of the story and I wanted more of that and less of these other secondary characters from previous books.

So, for $.99 it was a great book. I might read the whole series of I could get them from the library of on sale.

I read the blurb and was like, ohhhhhh this is the type of story line I like. So I jumoed straight in even though I didn't know any of the characters and this was the fourth book in the series. And I regret. Not because it's the 4th book and I know no one, but because it's pretty crappy and makes no sense.

Decent cover though.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

TEADL was BEYOND AMAZING! Arawn wasn't at all what I expected. Instead of cruel and twisted with a sadistic streak, he was...caring, sexy, protective. Yes, with him being the Demon Lord he was...intimidating but he was far from cruel or a jerk. The way he seemed so drawn to Maeve had me giddy and excited and I couldn't help but to swoon with the way he was so charming and surprisingly playful.

The moment I opened this book I was taken on an AMAZING ride. To finally see how Maeve is really doing after...er, everything had me crying for her yet I was incredibly amazed at how she is so determined to get control back. And with the wonderful help of Arawn not only does he help her blossom, but the romance, lust, and love that come about between them was something precious. I smiled through this book and I cried, I swooned and I fell in absolute LOVE with it. Honestly this is the BEST book yet in this series and my number 1 favorite!

To Enthrall A Demon Lord gets a ENCHANTING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! For those that read previous books featuring bits and pieces of Arawn, be surprised...IN THE BEST WAY with his book!

3.5 stars.

I had a hard time deciding between 3 and 4 stars for this book. But either way, I enjoyed the heck out of it!

Nadine Mutas truly has a talent for writing addictive paranormal romances.

This book had some similar vibes to Heart of Obsidian by Nalini Singh (one of my all-time favorite books) so if you enjoyed this book, or vice versa, then I highly recommend.

I adored the romantic development between Arawn and Meave, it was so beautifully done. I also love it when morally grey characters are still allowed to stay morally grey with the exception that now they wouldn't mind not destroying the world just to keep their lover happy 😂

There were also some absolutely hilarious moments that took me by surprise and made me laugh so much, so I applaud the author's sense of humor, Arawn and Rhun are truly hilarious guys.

And now I really really want Hazel & Tallak's book, but since this book was released in 2017 and it's now years later I wonder when it'll be released...? :(

Such love, friendship, humor, from no other Rhun lol Maeve and Arawn was great together she finally get's him to open up and show his soft side but only too her Maeve and Lucia became great friends. I am proud to have been chosen for this ARC group by my very farourite
author.
Nadine writes awesome fictional romance novels and they never disappoint.
Her whit is just awesome and she always manages to make me laugh out loud.
Arawn and Maeve are such an awesome couple and the way he treats her
with compassion and understanding just makes you fall for this Demon Lord.
It was fun to read and try to find out what each one of them was and how they
managed to bridge all the troubles thrown in their way.
There is definitely more to their story and I really hope that we will see them again.
I loved, loved, loved reading this book.
Thank you Nadine for an awesome story and the chance to read it ahead of others.
I will not put out any spoilers. Just read it and I promise you will love it.

Another sexy, intelligent, witty, and thoroughly entertaining read.

I FLOVE Arawn. He's powerful, sexy as hell, and absolutely devoted to Maeve. He is the best hero I've read in a long while.

Maeve is a strong, beautifully written, heartbreaking character. Powerful in her own right, it is amazing to watch her develop, finding her own inner fire (literally). Well done.

Arawn and Maeve together are combustable and hilarious--like when Arawn sees into Maeve's mind and finds all the naughty things Maeve is thinking about him. I cackled, then I squeed. Loved it.

Great story, Nadine. I knew it would be!

If you’ve read part one of this series and you’re curious about Maeve and Arawn...just know they fell in love and lived happily ever after. I was really disappointed in this book because I had high expectations after reading book 1. I had to push myself to finish reading and even then I skimmed. The story was extremely boring as were the characters. They main couple had zero chemistry, and too much attention was paid to the side characters. When I say it’s boring...I skipped all sex scenes and rolled my eyes through the love confessions because no way in hell those two dull personalities had a spark. I really want to rate it 1 star just as much as I wanted to DNF.

I volunteered to review an early copy of this book. The fourth book in the Love and Magic series is a solid entry giving us our most intriguing characters yet. Arawn has been quite the mystery & finally we're getting some insight into this roiling curl of darkness. Together this couple is about to set the stage for epic trouble on the horizon. I can't do spoilers so it limits what I want to say, so I'll just say, "hold on to your butts."

To Enthrall The Demon Lord by Nadine Mutas is a paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Lia Langola and Jack Calihan. This is the fourth book in the Love and Magic series.

I am really enjoying this series. I like that each book is connected, and we get more of each couple's story as the series progresses.

This book follows Arawn nd Maeve's love story. I really enjoyed how their relationship evolved. I also liked getting the softer side of Arawn in this book.

I can't wait for the next book in the series To Tempt A Witch To Sin to be released so I can get Tallak and Hazel's story.

Lia and Jack did a great job on the narration. I can't wait to listen to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like paranormal romances.

Oh, I feel really bad about this review because most reviews are 4 and 5 stars. To Enthrall a Demon Lord was just okay. I didn't even finish it. I got about 80% and felt that I didn't need to finish to know that Maeve and Arawn get their happy ending.

I'm really on a paranormal/fantasy kick right now and so I'm just devouring all things paranormal and fantasy but this one just didn't do it for me. I did like Maeve a lot, she was much stronger than she felt she was. She was such a good character and I was really rooting for her to overcome her fears and past. Arawn was hot and just the demon to help her into her future but I wasn't too hot on the secondary story of Maeve's sister and the witches and the book just kind of fell flat to me.

I will set this book aside and come back to it later and hopefully I will enjoy it better on a second reading.
