I’m Lincoln West. First sibling of three, and the other two couldn’t be any more opposite of me. Single father extraordinaire to the coolest kid on the face of the earth, and I have parents that think the world of my son. I’m a family guy. At twenty-two, I’ve embraced my fate as a lifetime member of the uncool single dad club. It’s the Lincoln and Carter show…until I meet Wren. That’s when everything changes. And I mean everything. More laundry in the machine, a third toothbrush at the bathroom sink, Cosmopolitan magazine next to the bed. More importantly, a home that feels full. Complete. Wren’s the beauty in my ugly days. She’s full of life, and talent, and she’s the exact mother figure my son needs. It’s surprising because she’s the daughter of two very shitty people. Pardon my French. Two people who taught her to hate herself because she didn’t follow their plan for her. Two people that drop a hell of a bomb on us. Right when we think the world’s stopped pitting against us, her family proves us wrong. Now we’re out to prove that even though unplanned, our unconventional life is absolutely perfect.
M. Piper lives in Southern Illinois with her family of 4. She is the only female in the house (if you don't count the poor dog) and enjoys reading and writing in her spare time. Let's face it, though, with two boys under the age of 5, there isn't much free time.
This was a cute story...quite predictable sometimes and quite insta lovey too but i enjoyed it. Love the characters and awesome single fathers get me every damn time😍😍😍
I'm not typically a crier from reading but this one pulled it from me effortlessly, lol. All the emotions in this book are so real and easy to empathize with that I was wrapped up in the story right from the beginning.
This was a wonderful love story of two people coming together despite their very different upbringings. Wren comes from an uptight, cold political family that only cares about what the media thinks about their image, whereas Lincoln's family is down to earth and loving, putting family above all else.
Their past circumstances have paved very different paths in their young lives, but meeting and coming together feels so right and so complete for them. Will feuding families pull them apart? With Wren's family ruin everything for her yet again?
You must read this amazing story and see for yourself! I highly recommend this book!
When I started UnPlanned by M. Piper I had NO IDEA where it was going, at all. I only knew one thing... I WAS HOOKED.
Something about this book called to me. From the very start I was totally in it. M. paints a vivid picture with her words and fully captures the readers attention with her charismatic characters.
UnPlanned is a fast moving story, but is packed with so much emotion. Both Lincoln & Wren were so likeable and I felt for each of them deeply. The connection M gives us is intense. It's obvious to anyone that these two are MADE FOR ONE ANOTHER! I loved every second of their story.
UnPlanned was totally not what I expected but I loved it all the same. It's a beautiful story, that brings all the feels!
I truly liked this story. This had soooooo much potential, but I needed more depth. Everything happened so fast. I needed more build up and to see more of Wren and Lincoln's relationship growth. It started off fantastic, but it just ended up being rushed. Even though I liked the story I'm a bit disappointed because this definitely has all the makings of an utterly fabulous book.
I went into this book knowing nothing at all and it was a beautiful surprise. This was a story that tugged on my heartstrings it's sweet romantic and sexy and left me with a little happy glow. Lincoln is devoted single dad to the cutest little boy, forcing him to abandon his wild boy antics and grow. I loved the relationship between father and son , it was so refreshing to read a single parent romance fro a different perspective. Wren is s beautiful woman inside and out, she has struggled to live up to her parents expectations. I cheered her when she decided she'd had enough and was going to forge her own path. The slow build of their relationship was beautifully written and their chemistry is off the charts. There are a lot of secondary characters most of whom I loved, the West family are so supportive of each other and I know they are going to provide lots more drama I can't wait to read them.
In true Piper fashion, she's captured my heart, made it pound, made it flutter, crushed it up, put it back together. No joke, Linc wasn't my fav at first and I found myself hoping someone smacks the pretty off his face. In come Wren. I felt for her, but damn if I didn't love she was able to hold her own and not take the rotten that was being thrown at her. The author twisted this story to keep me guessing and hoping just to be surprised by what plays out. I love the West family and I'm looking forward to Ford's book, however, Reagan is who I'm waiting for ;)
Unplanned is a sweet story with a very unusual beginning. A wonderful middle and the perfect ending. The Wests are a family you will want to belong to and life would be Leave It to Beaver perfect except...it isn't.
Unusual circumstances, a meet cute that induces a smirk, and a nasty family no one wants make all the drama in this book unbelievably believable.
I know. I know that didn't quite make sense...but it will.
Wren & Lincoln hook up at a frat party & are so wasted they don't remember anything about the other after doing the deed. A year later, Lincoln opens his door to a hooded woman shoving a baby swaddled in blue, says "he's yours" then runs away. (Well this caught my attention)!
Back in the day, Lincoln was a douchebag, slept with multiple women & didn't use protection...at all! He was young & it was college, still not very responsible. Now, what a transformation, a brilliant father, great siblings & wonderful parents, he has turned his life around & works for the family business. His dating life is non-existent & he doesn't care. It's just him & his fifteen month old son Carter & he couldn't be happier. Then Wren walks into his life.
Wren's father is a Senator, very powerful & with great ambitions to further his political career. Along with her mother, the doting wife, they raised Wren & her older sister Lark in a cold, proper & loveless environment. Both sisters hate this lifestyle & try to rid themselves from their parents clutches by moving far away.
This is a sweet story with a twist that I did figure out well before it was revealed. That was ok because I loved the characters, loved the plot & adored little Carter. Lincoln's parents were loving supportive & offered help whenever needed. Wren's parents on the other hand were selfish, heartless & my guess is only had children for appearances in their drive to win in politics.
This story played out beautifully & I especially enjoyed the scene where Wren finally stood up to her father & served him his just desserts! I reread that bit a few times. In some spots the dialogue was too cheesy for my taste, some of the writing could have been more fluid (a few scenes jumped haphazardly into the next & I had to check my page to ensure I didn't skip over) & there were many grammatical errors. I don't mean to be picky, just thinking the editor could take a closer look next time.
A nice story with very likeable characters & I will definitely check out this author's work for future reads.
This was a solid 3.5 and it was a quick easy read. I was super excited to see that the storyline takes place in Springfield, IL. I'm a native of Illinois and Springfield is about 45 mins away from my hometown. I literally laughed out loud when our heroine Wren said "too hot for Springfield." Not saying people in Springfield are hideous, but I totally understood her. It helped me picture Lincoln's character. Now, the reason I rated this 3.5 is that it was so fast the relationship between hero and heroine. It was almost eye rolling fast. I think I would of liked the book more if it was a slow burn. This way it could build on the character development and the storyline instead of an insta love. Saying that I did love that Lincoln is a single dad. Carter his son saved Lincoln's life. It made him grow up and see in life that there is more than drinking your life away. Wren was sweet and loving. I felt bad for her. She comes from a political family that has never shown her any love. Wren, Lincoln, and Carter were a cute dynamic. I really liked then ending. I think the author M. Piper finally slowed things down and we got to actually get to the meaty part. We get a huge bombshell that I kinda saw coming, but wasn't for sure. It was heartbreaking, but beautiful how M. Piper wrapped that up. In the end Wren finally stands up for herself and to her family. I also liked Lincoln more in the end.
I liked parts of it. But wish it just wasn't so insta love. The entire relationship went way to fast and it was hard for me to connect with the characters. I do hope as I continue the series it does get better and we get more development in the next books.
Well in true M. Piper fashion this book is a roller coaster of emotions. First let start out with Lincoln...he is a history nerd, he is HOT, and he loves his family. Ohhhh and he is a single dad!!!! I mean come on people what is HOTTER then a single dad? Not much I tell ya...Single dad's are where it's at yo...sighhh...so much sighhhhing. Did I mention he was hot? Anyway back to the book...Wren is struggling to get her life on track and trying to find a way to break free from her family all at the same time. When these two are around each other the cute funny playful banter is at an all time high. Lincoln has such a caring air about him that Wren can not help but fall for his charms...and his baby! I mean I have so much I want to say, but I can't cuz like you have to read for yourself and I don't want to ruin it for anyone cuz that ain't nice. I can tell you that Lincoln and Wren do some dirty, hot, things together so you won't want to miss it. Also this story is amazing and so is Lincoln and the way he treats Wren...like they were meant for each other..sigh it would be nice to have someone that loving and attentive in your life...double sigh! So yeahhh pick up UnPlanned NOW!! #ManMeat #MegaHottie #ArtGril #LuckyElephant #NerdFacts
I'm a big fan of M. Piper. As a writer and a person. Unplanned gave me all the feels! I laughed, cried, sighed, wanted to cut a bitch and swooned. This is the story of Lincoln West. All around nice guy who's incredibly good looking and a great single father. He has the love and support of his parents and his siblings. When he meets mysterious and talented Wren, his life takes a turn. For the better. He wants her and he's going to have her. What happens when secrets are revealed? Can Lincoln and Wren survive? I loved this story. Their chemistry is off the charts and I absolutely loved his family! Lincoln is so sexy, sweet and funny and Wren beautiful and tough! I have it on good authority that more of this family might be coming our way!
M. Piper delivered another awesome 5***** book. Things in life are always UNPLANNED!! This book was an emotional roller coaster ride from the beginning, it got me hooked and before I knew it was finished. Lincoln is just living the college life and Wren is trying to stay out of her parents lives they find each other one night and it changes their lives forever. Definitely recommend this book!
Some of the absolute best things in life are UNPLANNED! I has no idea what this story was about and I fell in love from the beginning! M. Piper creates a strong, emotional story full of people that will consume you with feelings on each page. Be prepared to laugh, cry and heat up!
I stumbled across UNPLANNED because of its hot cover and, after reading the blurb, I quickly added it to my Kindle.
I liked Lincoln; he’s a great father to Carter, a good brother to his siblings, and a good son to his parents. He’s a hard worker and cares deeply about the family business. The only time I didn’t like him was when he confessed to sleeping with dozens of women in college without protection. There’s a big difference between being wild and being grossly irresponsible. I also liked Wren; she’s is a nice girl who has been dealt with the most awful family. What they’ve put her through is truly terrible and your heart will break for her with how far they’re willing to go to protect their way of life.
I liked the characters and the story, but the telling of the story was a bit of a letdown. I came across quite a few mistakes and inconsistencies that I can’t believe were missed by the editor and beta readers. Several scenes didn’t flow very well and/or weren’t descriptive enough to explain how a character got from Point A to Point B. Instead of ending the story with the HEA for Lincoln and Wren, it ended with Wren having an important discussion with her sister, which I thought was not the best place to put that scene. I predicted the twist very early on in the story, and I’m not sure if it was supposed to be that way or if it was supposed to be a big surprise. However, I must say that it was a very interesting twist and that the author did a great job in making that particular scenario believable.
UNPLANNED is told in dual POVs and comes with a HEA for Lincoln and Wren. Their siblings are all single, so maybe they’ll get stories at some point, but at this stage, UNPLANNED is a stand-alone.
How in the HELL did I read this entire book without taking notes? What the actual fuck is wrong with me?
Oh, I know.
Piper happened. She wrote an amazing book and I just couldn't be bothered to stop and highlight anything.
Which is good and bad for you, reader of my reviews.
Because now I don't have any amazing quotes or lines to throw your way.
So, let's just say that you HAVE to meet Lincoln Ames West.
HAVE. TO.
He's fucking amazing and sweet and he's a single-dad, y'all. Yes, I y'all-ed that shit. Because sometimes single dad's need all the attention.
Lincoln is no exception. He needs the attention because he pulled his head out of his ass to be there for his child. He's been waiting for just the right lady to come along and become the mother his son never had.
He's been waiting for Wren.
He just didn't know it until she showed up.
And in true Piper fashion, she's going to fuck with your emotions. She's going to wreck you and put you back together.
I guess the good news is that no one dies. There's that.
I was so excited to read Unplanned by M. Piper. The blurb had me hooked. And was I ever right, I couldn't put the dang book down. I loved the setting of Springfield, IL. It's so close to home. I have been there too many times to count. And yes in elementary school I took a class field trip to visit all the Abraham Lincoln sites there.
I loved the storyline. I fell so in love with the characters. I also love the dual perspective. It is my favorite style because I like know what goes on in the main character's head. I like seeing their internal struggles. I also really like how the book comes full circle. It is a definite 5 Star one-click read. This review is for The Sweet Spot Sisterhood Blog. Enjoy, I know I did.
I had no idea what I was getting myself into with UnPlanned. All I knew was that Author M. Piper wrote it and I had to have it. I absolutely love this author. I adore her stories. She has a unique writing style that makes the heart grow fonder and makes you feel for the characters.
UnPlanned caught my attention quickly and kept me fully engaged in the story from start to finish. It had me feeling a wide range of emotions. It has great characters that are believable and easy to connect with and an ending that makes you feel all warm inside.
This book could have been even shorter if not for all the unnecessary details of who does what and repetitions detailing absolutely loads of crap just to fill pages. There are many things that are described that have no value whatsoever to the plot or serve any purpose other than filling pages. That shit annoyed me and I literally skipped and skimmed to go to any actually important paragraph. And the writing was a bit juvenile. And for a girl who had a disastrous pregnancy she is too careless and carefree. And dont tell me she was interested in both the brothers at one point. I mean, really? Unwanted Pregnancy does a SHIT to your mental health. It's not all jolly and merry like in movies. It takes a lot of physical and mental toll and don't tell me a girl who got the worst out of it is not even thinking about the child she lost not even once. She is just referring to the pregnancy as "when the shit hit the fan" and wallows in self-pity as how her parents see her as a failure instead of being more serious about the baby she lost. I don't see any signs she is missing the piece of meat that came out of her body or her longing towards kids. She just talks about it like some unfortunate thing that happened and like her parents just took a favourite toy from her, not a DAMN BABY! It was so immature writing I couldn't stop rolling my eyes. And it's insta love. I mean, the guy doesn't even look back to the girl he fucked in a warehouse and went straight to the party to fuck more, but now he sees a girl at the sidewalk and is immediately smitten . Really you want to believe me that he has changed to a completely different person in just 2 years? He was a grade A asshole and now he is a sunshine and summer with easy smile and lovely persona. I would have believed if they had some chemistry back then and found eachother again but not this shit. Come on. He seemed irredeemable to me for he was a total bastard for fucking a girl in a dark cold warehouse and then leave her there to get more chicks to fuck which is completely unforgivable. What if she had been raped by someone else? What if someone murdered her? But apparently he got his chance at redemption when he had to take care of the child. I mean it wasn't ideal and it came at the cost of Wren losing her child but for once, the father lost his career and dating life to provide for the child rather than the mother. And this writer needs an editor. There were so many inconsistencies and mistakes it was confusing as hell. One time he says he is the older brother and Ford is the younger. Then another time the Wren says Lincoln has an older brother. Which one is correct here? Next they are going to have sex in Wren and Lucy's house but when they are in bed it is said that Lincoln reaches out to HIS bedside table to grab a condom and panics when he doesn't find one. Wait. What? It's Wren's room, right? Ughh. What a mess. Still I will give 2 star because there's no cheating and the premise of the story was good.
Secret keeping by one party is usually the kiss of death in a relationship. But when both sides are keeping a life-altering secret, the result is usually a disaster of epic proportions. So, I fully anticipated Ms. Piper to absolutely crush me, leaving my heart as broken as my dreams of a happily ever after. (Have you read her work before? She is ABSOLUTELY capable of this. LOL) Let's just say, I was pleasantly and gleefully surprised that there was, in fact, a fairytale ending in store for our characters. However, be warned, this story will not be without those heart-rending moments. You will question the author's decisions at several points, and probably curse her at others. But just know that despite the bumpy ride, things will work out.
Lincoln West is a college player (and I do not mean that in the athletic sense of the word) turned practically celibate single father. His past choices have turned his manwhore ways into fatherhood overnight. He now works the family business by day, and changes diapers and sings lullabies by night. But he wouldn't change anything for the world. Well... maybe he'd change one thing. If the opportunity every arose, he's not opposed to dating. But his requirements are much more stringent these days.
Enter Wren Potts.
Now, the first chapter of this book is kind of harsh. If you are like me, you WILL think Lincoln is a d-bag. (Can I say that in a review?) But seriously, really. He's not classy. And it might take some time for you to get past that. Unless that was just me? But I bring this all up because it will be crucial to the story at a later point.
So, Wren, is this beautiful artist soul, with an incredibly low self-esteem with parents that are involved in politics and care little about anything else except image. She has made some mistakes in her recent past. Some of these mistakes were huge, life- changing mistakes. And she is home to try and figure it all out, and also because her parents have basically summoned her.
When Wren and Lincoln meet, it's practically insta-love. It's almost as if they are somehow connected. But they take it slow, until they don't. And things are seemingly perfect. Except, those secrets I mentioned? Well, they both have them. And they're big. And they just may destroy that fledgling relationship.
I can't tell you much more, without giving away spoilers, but if you like second chance stories, secret babies, single dads and insta-love, you will love this book.
I hate having to write reviews of amazing books because I never feel like I can say what I want to say. My mind draws a blank now that I'm done with Unplanned. The writing was amazing. The story flowed at the perfect pace and I didn't feel like things happened to fast.
The characters are great. They are well developed and easy to connect with even though we are kept on the Dark a little work Wren. She is really one of those heroines that doesn't have to evolve much in the book but the small changes have an huge impact on the story. Lincoln has to be one of my favorite heroes I've read. He's complex but at the same time laid back and knows what responsibilities he has and doesn't back down. I simply love him.
The plot was amazing! Single dad! That is my favorite plot but it was so much more. Watching this relationship form from the beginning was fun and the banter was great. There are moments that I had tears and in this type of story, those tears were powerful. There is one scene that will leave a last impression and when I think of these characters, it will be in the front of my mind.
Being the first book in the West family series, the author was able to jump head first into these characters and have the story told that not only will make you laughed but make you question what's going on the whole way through.
Overall I can't wait for the next book in this series. I love this family already family and can't wait to see them all interact in the next book. I have a feeling it's going to be an even wilder ride for Ford and his lady of choice. Bring it on M Piper, I'm ready! 5 stars #2OCCJ
Unplanned is a fun, sexy read with a few surprises that will have you gasping and begging for more! The first swoon started with Lincoln as a single father. I don't know why but something with a guy having a kid just does something for me! And the things he does for his family, very respectable. The second swoon was Lincoln was SO SWEET!!! Talk about a tooth ache! But it wasn't an over the top kinda thing, it was a where is this guy, I need one in my life kinda thing. And third swoon...well I don't exactly have a third one but Lincoln deserves a third one because he is just that amazing! I also loved Wren! She was dealt a not so good hand when it came to her family but she was strong and was able to over come all that and become a very well rounded woman.
Most of all, THE STORY!!! I always try to go into a story with an open mind and just let the story tell itself because I love surprises and this book was full of them! There were hints dropped here and there so I had an idea but when the truth finally came out...BLOWN AWAY!
Overall, I thought the writing was fantastic, the story and characters were even better! This is becoming a favorite author of mine and I can't wait to see what comes next! This is an absolute must read!
M. Piper has done it again!! Lincoln is a single dad, history nerd, and HOT!! He has mended his player ways after having a tiny, blue bundle unceremoniously dumped into his arms while he is still in college. Did I mention he is a single dad? And he is HOT!! He does the only thing any newly, unexpected father does, and calls his own mother. Fast forward two years: Lincoln has carved out a life for himself and his son in Springfield, IL where he works at an historical house, coincidentally owned by his family. Although he had made a mistake, his family has always loved and supported him, whereas Wren, the heroine, has been raised in a cold, sterile atmosphere by cold, unloving parents. She ran away across the country to escape them, but has been commanded back to Springfield after losing her job. When these two meet, whole worlds collide. You will fall in love with Lincoln and Wren as they navigate angsty twists and turns, reveal secrets, gain confidence, and grow into the persons they are meant to be. I laughed out loud. I cried. Ugly cried. This is the first in a 3 book series following the lives and loves of the West family. I fell in love with this family and can't wait to red the next book!
I don't even know how to start. M. Piper wrote the perfect story! Angst and hope, love and heartbreak, it all adds up to a story that I couldn't get enough of! Lincoln's life hasn't exactly gone as planned, but he wouldn't change a thing now. Life was hard a few years ago, but he's gotten into a good swing of things. He hasn't been interested in dating in a while. That is until Wren walks in. It's not easy being the daughter of a politician. Wren would know best. She's tired of letting them control her and what she does. She's finding out that standing up for herself is awesome. I was glued to the pages. I couldn't turn them quick enough. M. Piper will make me go broke. Every time I read one of her books, I then need it in paperback. Stories this good deserve to have a spot on my shelf. They deserve to be read again and again. This is one of those that no matter how many times you read it, you'll discover new emotions each time. I'm all ready to read it again so soon after finishing!
I should not have been amazed by this book because hello this IS M. Piper but still...I absolutely loved it. I like a good single Dad story and this one has enough twists and turns and heat to make it an excellent single Dad story.
Lincoln West had life all figure out. Get a college degree while having as much sex as possible. Until the day when a little bundle of joy is dropped into his lap. He embraced being a father and his life revolves around his child.
Wren has made some mistakes and her parents make her pay for them every time they open their mouths. She wants to make it on her own without their help and has become a stronger person despite some serious setbacks as a teen.
These two meet and there are indeed fireworks. They have chemistry, but they also both have secrets. How will each deal with not only the secrets they individually have but also with the punches that are coming their way? I definitely had tears in my eyes through several parts of the book. This is a heartwarming story of love, family and strength!
One night is all that it takes to change a person’s life, and that night was when Lincoln became a dad. He was a total jerk in high school and college, but fast forward to two years after graduating, and he is a single Dad and his only concern is his son.
Wren has had a hard time. Her parents are not great people and the only person she can lean on is her sister. When Wren is forced to go back home, she tries to make the best of her situation. She meets Lincoln while she is doing brick rubbings on the historic West House, which his family owns.
Lincoln and Wren hit it off. But Lincoln is scared to tell her about his son, and Wren has some secrets of her own. Will these things tear apart their budding relationship, or can they weather the storm?
I liked this book. It is a great story. The relationship between Lincoln and Wren has a nice buildup. I also enjoyed the fact that the setting is in a city where I was born – Springfield, Illinois! Lincoln also has two siblings, so I would be interested in hearing their stories, as well as Wren’s sister’s.
You had me at single dad. Yum. I could call it a second chance romance but I wont. This is a single dad who took a chance on a girl and its so beautiful. An effortless read. I love, love Lincoln West. He's so swoony. Such an amazingly sweet, caring, funny and sexy guy. Sometimes what happens during a one night stand don't always turn out the way you may think. This is a story of one Lincoln, a little boy named Carter and Wren. Wren is such a sweet girl. You can just feel the natural chemistry between them. I know I had some arrange of emotions from getting misty eyed to wanting to smack some people. And yes your panties my get a bit wet because some sexy times happen. The West family is amazing. I can't wait for Ford and Reagans stories to come. I have a feeling we're in for a treat when it comes to M. Piper. As the past M. Piper books she draws you in from start to finish and you are in for an incredible read. I love this book.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I think M. Piper is on fire lately with what she has been putting out. I loved this book. I loved Lincoln. He is just a good guy who got thrown a GIANT curveball in life and took it like a champ. Stepping up when he needed to. Now he wants to share his life with someone, but he is not actively looking and Wren kind of falls into his lap. She is just what he and Carter needed... and in so many more ways than just one. I really thought I had the climax of this book all figured out. I was like of course, this is how it is going to go down, what a bummer that I figured it all out right away, but of course, I will keep reading. BUT, I was wrong. So. Wrong. I liked how the story ended up. I won't say more as I don't want to ruin it for you all.! :) I am looking forward to more on the fringe characters - Wren's sister Lark, Lincoln's brother. Fan for life!
