Some wedding stories are so bizarre that you can’t even make them up. Take Erica Bloom’s latest case of an Otter Lake bride whose BFF is MIA at the time she’s supposed to perform her duties as maid of honor . . . only to be found DOA. Erica and her security team―minus her beloved Grady, who’s on vacation, trying to stay out of town business and has a no-nonsense sheriff covering for him―have followed every possible lead to find out what really happened to the young woman. Is her death the result of a bachelorette party gone wildly wrong? Or did someone with cold feet snap―and turn into a cold-blooded killer? These are the questions that must be answered for the nuptials, which at the eleventh hour receive a dramatic makeover, to go off without a hitch…before ’til death do us part.
After spending her formative years reading Grimms’ fairy tales and stirring up potions in the creek behind her house, Auralee Wallace knew she would grow up to be a witch. When that didn’t work out, she decided becoming a writer was the next best thing. Now, Auralee is the author of multiple novels, including the Otter Lake mystery series and The Evenfall Witches B&B mysteries. She lives in Ottawa with her husband, kids, dog, and cat. She can be found on Twitter, Goodreads, Facebook, Instagram, and her website http://auraleewallace.com/.

Erica and her friends are back. This latest case will really put Erica and her security team, Freddie and Rhonda to work. I love these three. They are like Nancy Drew and friends/Three's Company/The Three Stooges. You take your pick. Any which way you select is right. These three help make these books enjoyable. Although, I did miss Grady. Yeah, he did make an appearance in the book but not much of one as he was on vacation and this time not stressing the small things. Yet, as Erica pointed out...murder is not a small thing.
What I missed myself and found lacking was the outlandish humor. There was an abundance of it to be had in the prior novel. Erica and Freddie were stealing the show with the way these two bounded off each other. I didn't really experience that in this book. Yet, as I have read several books in this series; I have grown close to all of the characters...main and secondary. Therefore, I still did like this book.
If you have not yet discovered Aurallee Wallace's Otter Lake Mystery Series and if you are looking for a hilarious and fun cozy mystery series then this is the series for you. I have loved each and everyone of these books and Down The Aisle With Murder had me laughing out loud, smiling and feeling like I was away at summer camp. The best friend in this series Freddie has me in stitches and Erica is one of the best flawed and funny characters I have ever read. Otter Lake sounds like the perfect place to be year round and with characters that feel like family and close friends. In Down the Aisle with Murder Erica and Freddie have their hands full with investating and wedding planning. This is a great weekend, beach read or armchair escape and I loved it.
I think I told my BFF one time that I would never write romance. I mean, come on, I've been happily married for nearly 15 years, what do I know about romance? :) Anyway, never say never, I guess.
There's a lot more love-y type stuff in this book...and I often caught my singing the Bee Gee's song, How Deep is Your Love? while writing it. Make of that what you will.
The best in series since Pumpkin Picking with Murder! So funny and cozy that I can't wait for the sixth book to come out. Keeping my fingers crossed that it's not the last because I could keep reading Otter Lake Mysteries forever. But if it is, Auralee Wallace has a fan for life so I'm ready for whatever comes next!
Candace is getting married, and everyone is gearing up for the wedding, especially the maid of honor Lyssa - who really enjoyed the bachelorette party. The next day, which also happens to be the day of the wedding, Lyssa is found dead. Freddie and Erica promise to fix the wedding and find the killer. The only catch? They can't count on Grady to help; he's on vacation.
Erica's goofiness is ridiculous, but oh-so-enjoyable. I love her friendship with Freddie, and while their fight made me so sad, it also set up some great development. And silliness. The romance between Candace and Joey is sweet, and the ending was great. I can't wait for the next one at the same time that I don't want the series to be finished.

This book had been my “pool reading book” for the last few years, as you can tell I don’t get there very often 😆 but I have finally finished it. It’s my second to last book in the Otter Lake series for me, yes I read them out of order as per my usually lol. I’m excited to read the final book in the series even tho it’s bitter sweet that it’s the final one. I love Erica and Freddie’s antics and adventures!
Outstanding! I only wish you could rate books higher than a five. I laughed the entire way through, and could literally not put it down. Auralee Wallace has created characters that you instantly fall in love with. Each book I read of hers instantly becomes a favorite of mine. This series is a must read.
Erica, Freddie and Rhonda are involved in a murder investigation when their friend, Candace has a dead Maid of Honor the day before her wedding. This series, Otter Lake Mystery, is funny and a great cozy, no terrible violence. Grady makes an appearance but is on "vacation" for much of the story. This book can be read as a stand alone but you would miss all the funny background and friendship builders from the previous 4 books. Mom and the twins also make appearances and you'll love the interaction between all the great characters set in the small town of Otter Lake. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Erica and Freddy are at it again. The time they must plan a wedding for there friend Candance but also figure out who killed the maid of honor. Not only that but they must also figure out their own relationship problems.
I've enjoyed this series from the very first page of book 1, but this was the best entry in this series yet! I love everything about this story. I couldn't stop laughing at the events that unfolded and I couldn't wait to see what the heck Grady was up to on his "vacation". Freddie and Erica are out to solve the murder of the maid of honor for the upcoming nuptials of Grady's ex-girlfriend to local ex-con Joey. They are in love and nothing will stop this wedding, but is someone trying to get in the way of their happily ever after? Don't miss Fredding and Erica's shenanigans, Rhonda's new possible romance who she should be investigating for insurance fraud, mom's possible new love interest in the guru who's hosting the current retreat, and all of our other favorite characters of Otter Lake. If you like the hilarious stories of Janet Evanovich, Laura Levine and Libby Klein, you will want to pick this series up as soon as you can! Thank you #netgalley!
A return to the Wallace that I enjoy reading. The book opens with Erica Bloom attending Candace's bachelorette party. Is it weird to celebrate the wedding of the woman who dated Erica's one true love? Not in a small town. The big hit of the party though is the maid of honor, Lyssa. That would be the same Lyssa who turns up dead the next day. Erica and Freddie would normally insert themselves into the case but Freddie is acting strangely; in fact, he has told Erica that they need to have a break. And there are a lot of strange things going on at Otter Lake. Erica's mom has brought in a new guru, Zaki, and there is... something strange about his seminar. Like, the fact that it's for singles but Erica's mom isn't forcing her to go. Grady, Erica's erstwhile love of her life, is taking a vacation; something he's never done before. Sheriff Bigly is there in his place and she's not amused by Erica and Freddie. I liked this book so much better than the last one. Yes, Erica is still a little immature but she seems to be getting better. I wish that the murder victim had been better fleshed out.
Erica Bloom is tempted to ride the mechanical bull at Candace's wild bachelorette party. She does and regrets it the next morning. Erica is also shocked to learn the maid of honor, Lyssa, has died. Now Erica and her BFF Freddie Ng have decided to step as both wedding planners and amateur sleuths to salvage Candace's wedding and to solve Lyssa's murder. Erica's on-again, off-again lover, Sheriff Grady is off on a rare vacation so the dynamic duo has to deal his sub, no-nonsense Sheriff Bigly. This is another hilarious, fun read in the Otter Lake mystery series.
I received an eARC via Netgalley and St. Martin's Press with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and provided this review.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This did not affect my opinion of the book or my review itself.
Erica's friend Candace is getting married, but after a wild bachlorette party, Candace's maid of honor is found dead. Erica works to solve the case, make sure Candace has a wedding, and figure out where she stands with the love of her life.
This is one of my absolute favorite cozy mystery series! I love the characters, I love the romance, I love the humor, and I love the mysteries. I've read every entry so far, and they never disappoint.
I wanted more Grady! I love him, and I love his relationship with Erica.
Start at the beginning of this series for sure, and I bet you will get hooked like I did!
This is my first book in this series and first time reading this author. But, it won’t be my last. I am looking forward to reading the beginning of this series.
I must admit it took me about a 25% of the way through to really get into this book. That could be because I hadn’t read the beginning of the series though. But, I must say, once I got into it I couldn’t wait to see what happened next.
The character development in this book was really amazing. I laughed at Erica and Freddie’s childish fights and antics. I felt like I was a friend of theirs. Really well developed plot as well mixing love and a murder mystery together. Well done with a bit of romance and mystery while being fun.
Erica Bloom's guy Grady, the local sheriff, told her on New Year's Eve that they needed a break. Now it's June, and there's still no love for her. Even worse, she's trying to help friend Candace (who once dated Grady, but that's another story) get married. When Candace's maid-of-honor is killed, Erica tries to help. Then Erica's long-time friend and business partner Freddie decides they need a friend-break. Just why is everyone mad at Erica, again? Even her mother has a beau, the first that Erica can remember since--well, since ever. And it's not like Grady to take a vacation just when someone is murdered in his town, just like it's not like Freddie to want to ignore a murder investigation. Apparently, Erica will have to investigate by herself. Amusing.
This is a fun and funny cozy series that sometimes gets close to but never goes over the top. This time around, our intrepid Erica is investigating the death of Lyssa, who was supposed to be them if of honor at a wedding Erica's wondering why she's attending. Her BFF Freddie helps (also with the dialogue). Her love interest Grady is absent but that doesn't mean Erica's not thinking about him. You'l chuckle about her mom. Well done, nicely written. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This is one where it helps, I think, to have read at least one of the preceding books but if not you'll still enjoy it.
I haven't read any other stories in this series, but oh how I want to just reading the shenanigans Erica and her friends get into.
And the people that are part of her mom's retreat! They are hysterical!! Kit Kat was just too dang funny. Although I sort of pictured this retreat as almost a cult commune. Possibly I've watched too much true crime lately.
I definitely will be going back to read the first books in this series and keep an eye on it in the future. I need to know how her and Grady's relationship goes.
A new to me author and series but definitely not going to be the last I read of her.
Down the Aisle with Murder by Auralee Wallace is the 5th book in the Otter Lake Mystery series. This was a quick fun read. This is the only book I have read but now I want to read the previous 4. This book made me laugh out loud. I loved all the fun that the characters were having and the humor. It is definitely an enjoyable read. I think I would have enjoyed it even more had I read the previous books.
I LOVED this book! It made me laugh out loud several times, and the mystery kept me turning the pages. This is the first book I've read in this series, and I can't wait to go back and read it starting from book 1.
Some fun shenanigans I love that we got some Erica and Candace serious development here, was lovely, and also some Mum development as well Was nice seeing some growth with Grady as well, that was great and funnily done It's coming together!
As all of Auralee’s books, this one was amazing. Super funny relations between the protagonist and her best friend. This series is such an amazing pleasure to read. Gimme more!!!!!
Another great book in the series. I loved the introduction of a temporary detective and Grady’s “vacation”, so many funny moments. I only wish there was a bit extra at the ending.
Down the Aisle with Murder by Auralee Wallace is the 5th book in the Otter Lake Mystery series, and a terrific fun read. I love this book and can't wait for the next adventure. Erica Bloom is asked to be her friend's maid of honor, when the first girl asked goes missing. I loved all the well developed quirky characters in this book. Once I started this book, I could not stop reading it until I was done. This book also made me laugh out loud. Not only is this book an exciting mystery but also very refreshing and a quick read. If you love funny cozy mysteries, which are my favorite, you will love this book. It is strongly recommended, the book and the series.
I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
