Optimistic and hardworking, Angela Bouler prides herself on getting through life without asking for an assist. School, two jobs, caring for her nephew, Cory—she's keeping all together…then Isaiah Reynolds bounces into her life. The Jacksonville Gators' star forward is coaching at Cory's summer camp, but guardians and mentors aren't supposed to mix—and certainly not surrender to red-hot kisses…
Isaiah has an image of the perfect partner in his head, and it doesn't quite mesh with Angela's hectic life. Or her evening job serving drinks at a gentlemen's club. But deep down, she's the only woman who sparks a true connection. He's expected to keep his image spotless, but instead he's risking everything on a strong, sexy, complicated woman. Winning her heart won't be easy, but it's becoming the only play that really matters…
I really enjoyed Angela/Angel and Isaiah's story! And I loved that Isaiah wasn't your typical love 'em and leave 'em pro basketball player. This 'good guy' was actually a really good guy. Angel was perfect for him. And Cory! Such a great kid, but his parents are the absolute worst! I wanted to reach through my Kindle and give both of them a good shaking.
Speaking of worst, I could not stand Bridget. Or Mark. I thought I was gonna have to add Isaiah's mama to this list, but fortunately for her, she got her mind right. I was on the fence about Kevin, but he always showed himself to be a good friend to Isaiah. I'm actually hoping that he gets a story and HEA at some point.
Got my fingers crossed that we get more from the Jacksonville Gators! Keep up the good work, Ms. Williams!
Overtime for Love is the first book I’ve read by Synithia Williams and it won’t be the last. The author did a different take on the single mother, rich basketball player trope. Angela works two jobs while attending school and taking care of her nephew. She’s smart and independent. She doesn’t want to be taken care of. Isaiah isn’t your typical ball player. His teammates call him “Preppy” because of the way he dresses. He’s not flashy. He wants to be in a relationship; to be married and he has an image of who that woman will be and it’s definitely not Angela. Even though the chemistry between the two is off the charts.
I really enjoyed the slow burn of Isaiah and Angela’s romance. They both had reasons for not wanting to jump into a relationship quickly. Isaiah isn’t the typical baller and is a genuinely good guy. He wants to protect and help the people he cares about which causes tension at times between him and Angela. Angela is very independent and doesn’t want to be caught up in a situation where she becomes solely dependent on Isaiah or anyone for her financial means. At times Angela’s insistence on doing things on her own got frustrating for me as a reader. I wanted to scream, There’s nothing wrong with accepting a little bit of help! But also Isaiah took his helpfulness a little too far to the point where it undermined Angela’s wishes.
Overtime for Love was an enjoyable read and a wonderful romance. Sometimes a romance doesn’t have to be about a bad boy and the woman that loves him. There are good guys out there and Synithia Love wrote a great romance hero in Isaiah Reynolds. I look forward to reading more from this author.
#2 - Desire is a game without rules…Optimistic and hardworking, Angela Bouler (child advocate) prides herself on getting through life without asking for an assist. Graduate school, two jobs, caring for her 13-year-old nephew, Cory since his dad’s in jail and his mom has fled to New York—she’s keeping it all together…then Isaiah Reynolds bounces into her life. The (Jacksonville Gators’ star forward) is coaching at Cory’s summer camp, but guardians and mentors aren’t allowed to mix—and certainly not surrender to red-hot kisses…or their children will be removed from the program. Isaiah has an image of the perfect partner in his head, and it doesn’t quite mesh with Angela’s hectic life. Or her evening job bartending at a gentlemen’s strip club. But deep down, she’s the only woman who sparks a true connection. He’s expected to keep his image spotless, but instead he’s risking everything on a strong, sexy, complicated woman. Winning her heart won’t be easy, but it’s becoming the only play that really matters…
A warm, slow burn of a romance. Dedicated and problem-solving Angela is working two jobs--social worker during the day, bartender at a strip club at night--as well as embarking on being a guardian for her teenage nephew. Despite the chemistry she has with the somewhat shy but overly responsible pro-basketball player Isaiah, she has a million reasons not to get involved with him. But they keep getting thrown together, and they keep proving to themselves that they're good for each other.
I enjoyed how Williams allowed Angela and Isaiah to take the time to process their feelings, and I especially loved how the two of them both consulted their friends. (Isaiah and one of his friends role-playing his and Angela's conflict, and that leading to a lightbulb moment for Isaiah, was particularly fun, funny, and just plain smart.)
Wonderful story by one of my favorite authors. This is the story of Isaiah and Angela. Isaiah a football player, and Angela a child advocate by day and a bartender by night. They met at the club Angela worked at and never forgot each other. Surprise, Surprise when Angela drop her nephew at basketball camp guess who is there. You got it Isaiah. This story has so many layers, Angela trying to get her master's, taking over the care of her nephew when her brother's girlfriend just drops him off, her brother is in jail, she is bartending at a strip club so she won't have student loans. Isaiah the good guy of the Jacksonville Gators, ready to settle down with his on again off again girlfriend. But there is one small problem he can't get Angela out of his mind.
This was my first book by Synithia Williams and being a sports fan, I immediately liked the basketball aspect of the story. Isaiah was a refreshing change from the stereotypical womanizing and arrogant professional athlete. Angela's choice for a part-time job put her in danger of losing her full time job and caused problems with Isaiah. The fact that Angela continued to work there in spite of the risks showed that she was determined to finish school and take care of her nephew her own way, regardless of what people thought. I really liked the relationship between Isaiah and Angela's nephew Corey. Isaiah was a mentor for him and someone to talk to. Isaiah showed that nice guys don't always finish last.
This was a wonderful HEA read. Angela has a heart of gold, but is constantly put upon by others. She is doing all she can to make it and has the strength of a thousand. When she is “forced” to care for her nephew, her strength rises to the top again. In comes Isaiah, a pro baller. They hit it off, but her need to be strong and independent almost ruins their relationship.
Great story about a young, hard-working woman with a lot on her plate.
Angela works two jobs, in order to finish Graduate School and raise her nephew, who has been abandoned by his irresponsible parents. Angela is hesitant about giving her heart to pro-basketball star, Isaiah, because she is afraid he'll get her all tangled up and then leave her like everyone else has.
Angela "Angel" Bouler has worked hard to achieve everything she has , education, good job and a roof over her head, at times working two jobs. When a professional basket ball player enters her life it turns up side down. Ms. Williams took us on the court with Angel scoring triple doubles all the way. A page turner from start to finish.
The story was ok. I didn't really feel a connection between the two characters. Also, there seemed to be holes in the story. For example, Angela and Isaiah had sex (not slept together!) in the club and in the next chapter, they were dating.... For me, I would have liked a better transition; maybe they talk about their relationship or actually go on a few more dates.
A good love story with enough elements in it to not be a "typical" story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, to include the supporting characters who I wouldn't mind seeing in future books!
Delightful! Angela has a few trust issues, but it's understandable the way her Aunt treated her and her brother. Isaiah is a fixer, he wants to help in any way he can. He wants to win Angela's heart and he has to learn to not overstep his boundaries.
Excellent read, I enjoyed the storyline and characters. Isaiah and Angela are good together. Angela was a little stubborn but everything worked out. I recommend this book.
I enjoyed reading this book! I loved Isaiah and Angel's story I'm happy everything worked out for them despite everyone had something negative to say about Angel without knowing her. I'm glad that didn't stop Isaiah for loving her Can't wait to read the next book!
Synithia Williams's books always cause a hug smile to grace my face. This was yet another of her books to relish and relax with one evening. The story was nicely told and I loved the main characters.
I have really enjoyed this series because it includes one of my favorite things: basketball. The characters keep me entertained throughout and the story flows well.
I don't know why I don't read more Synithia! I'm definitely going to correct that going forward. I grabbed this book and read it in one sitting... a great, well-written uplifting read about a single mother and a player- literally!- who surprises her by being the opposite of who she assumes he is. It also helped jumpstart my holiday mood since it's set at Christmas.

Angela is a child services advocate by day, bartender at a reputable strip club by night, trying to do the right thing all the time and raise her teenage nephew alone. Isaiah is the strait-laced guy on the pro basketball team who definitely cannot make any impetuous decisions but wants to help other people any way he can--even if they'd prefer to take care of things themselves.
Sparks--hot hot sparks!--fly. Charming, funny, poignant. Great!
