Todd’s having another fun day at work when his phone goes off, alerting him that an apocalyptic event is occurring and he needs to get the hell out of town as fast as he can. With his family in tow, they make their way east towards a set of compounds he and his friends have built; their sole protection against a world gone mad.
Charon’s Blight: Day One follows a group of friends who are each trying to make it to Arizona from across the country while an airborne virus reanimates the dead and starts tearing Mankind apart.
A zombie outbreak grips the Nation and each member of the group faces one singular question; will they live through the day or join with the hordes of undead and help bring civilization to its knees?
Timothy Ray (1978-) was born in Tucson, Arizona, where he resides to this day. His family is from eastern Arizona, from Safford to Morenci, and he enjoys camping on Mt. Graham during the summer months. He attended Desert View High School, where he was inspired by an English teacher to explore his creative writing skills and work on his first novel; the Acquisition of Swords. He joined the Writer's Group under Mrs. Wakamatsu, and finished the rough draft of his first book in 1995.
This was the tale of several characters' journeys to reach s safe haven on the first day of the zombie apocalypse. All had trained, but not all truly believed the day would come when they would have to bug out, leave their lives behind, and try to reach safety at their compound in Arizona. Exciting read.
The book was a really good read. The amount of characters makes it a little difficult to keep up but it’s still very enjoyable! My only real complaint is poly relationship.
Overall I thought that this book was pretty good. It held my interest and didn't get repetitive as some of these books can do. It was definitely a page turner. I also happen to like my Zombie books full of blood and gore. This first book did not disappoint. I thought the story lines of the survivors was a little hard to follow. I didn't really connect with any of them. The poly family was perhaps the strangest. Any info that I have ever read or watched has never portrayed a poly family in that way, with the second wife already having a husband whom she was still married to. The rest of the families were older and not many children. Wouldn't you want younger families with children to help rebuild the world if it were to all go to he** in a handbasket??? So other than that I enjoyed this zombie read and am excited to start book #2.
