"I got the book as a part of the review program in Outset."

The Secret of The Sculptures by Monika Thakur was another okay-ish read for me. Let's see how that happened.

Before I received a copy of this book, I had heard nothing but good things about it. Obviously then, my expectations rose and I hoped to read something extraordinary. This book, sadly, was a huge contrast to that. I mean, it was great as far as the storyline is concerned because the plot really was something out of the box. As in, there are a lot of books and stories related to historical places and artifacts. More often than not, these plots talk of a heist or some other mystery, but rarely does any bother to acknowledge the supernatural. It's there. It lingers around on your breath, in the air, mixed with the words you speak. You can feel it. For more than half of the story, you will also think it's the supernatural until the cloak is lifted and the mastermind turns out to be no one but a genius human.

This book, in that sense was different. It talked of a heist, but it also talked of supernatural. And that is a concept I can easily grasp, thanks to the million stories I've listened to as a kid. The topic has interested me for as long as I can remember. In that sense, this was a great book.

Now, let's talk about how beautiful the cover is, and how apt a title did Thakur select for her book. Yet, I cannot fail to think how obvious it was. Perhaps, had the title been more secretive, things would have been better. Nonetheless, the cover really is pretty. I'm already a fan of the cover artist.

Yet, why the 3 stars, you ask?

Well, I'll start with the basics:

The book revolves around two girls in college, both immature in their ways. I mean, I am a college girl too, and I have friends here,  but no one is like them.
The ending of the book was a huge disappointment for me. In fact, judging from the thrill the last few chapters was creating, the climax was nothing that I would have wanted and expected. It wasn't a just ending.
The pace of the book wasn't exactly fast. It was somewhere in the middle, something mystery (and specially supernatural) should never have to bear.
Mr. Seth was a mysterious character, alright and there was something special about him that the author signaled to somewhere between the story but it was never fully explained. Never an explanation as to how whatever happened to him happened and so on.
The first half of the book was filled with nonsense. I mean, sure it all happened for a reason, but it appeared as if the writer was trying to buy pages from us in order to use them. If you're a reader then you can probably, at one point, argue that she may be helping us know more about the character but truth be told, the characters were as little developed as they could be.

Due to all these reasons, it became sort of obvious to me why I should rate a book 3 stars. But then, these are my  views. Anybody can read it and love it. I hope this review doesn't offend anyone.

First thank you author Monika Thakur for providing me the review copy.
Secondly so sorry for taking alot of time to finish the book and providing review.

Rating
Story/plot - 3 ⭐⭐⭐
Pace of the book - 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Character building - 2 ⭐⭐

Overall Rating - 3 ⭐⭐⭐

The book is simple and fast! Storytelling is simple as well! It's kind of hybrid of mystery and Fantasy.
The thing I liked about the book was it kept me on edge till the last chapter! It's not at all possible to predict how it will end.

Thing I don't like is, the way it ended!it's like khoda pahad and Nikla chuha!

Alot of drama and suspense but frankly ending was just average!

But if you are new in reading and want to read some promising new Indian reader you should try this book!

I have a feeling this book may have a sequel as well! If it has it I will look forward to read it.
Thanks once again to author for providing me the review copy.

P.S. book is way better than those lovely dovy shit we usually read from young indian authors! I appreciate author for experimenting with the fantasy and thriller ♥️

The Secret of the Sculptures by Monica Thakur

It is the story of two girls who are lifelong friends. Story starts with their holiday meet up in Delhi. The story revolves around the priceless stolen sculpture from Aditi’s College. From there story takes its twists and turns and grabs your attention till the end. According to me book cover is really nice. Nice storyline. Good use of vocabulary. Simple yet wonderfully written. Nice suspense but that can be more interesting twists in the plot that’s what I feel. Overall nice work.

Think about it, you had a tiring college semester, you are back to your hometown with your friend for your holidays, unknown to the fact that you are being accused of getting entangled in a conspiracy regarding a mysterious artifact. How would you like to cope up with this accusation? Would you run away or cry or try to solve the mystery all by yourself with the help of your distressed friend? Well, I would definitely call myself Indiana Jones or Robert Langdon (if given a choice) and would love to solve the puzzles and mystery surrounding a mysterious and rare artifact!

Coming back to reality and talking about The Secret Sculptures, I must say, the author has done an 'A' one job in terms of keeping the pace face and smooth, the book is very light read and thus makes it very easy to finish it within a day (if you have the time). The characterization was done remarkably, be it the strong bond between the two friends, Maitrayee and Aditi, and also the sidekick I would say, Mr. Seth, his character has been portrayed so mysteriously and unique. One thing still I would like to mention, the beginning of the book was a tiny teeny bit slow but few chapters down, the story picks up its pace making it oh wow! About the writing style, it would have been nice if the action scenes were described a little bit more but that actually didn't really mellow down the flow, so it was nice.

Few grammatical errors were there but ya reading it in a smooth flow didn't really make much of a difference thus you can strike that point. The plot was yes intense and executed nicely so I was actually happy with the read and enjoyed it! Would like to recommend this book to mystery lovers and if you want a light read full of suspense and interesting twists and turns, you gotta go and grab this book. It is a very gripping book and well written and oh the book cover describes the book so well! :D

Book’s name: The secret of the sculptures
Author’s name:
Publisher: Notion press publishing house
My rating: 2.5/5

The secret of the sculptures is a mystery novel revolving around a lost sculpture. The main character of the book is Maitraiyi who studies abroad and comes to her home in Delhi to spend her vacations and find herself in the middle of the theft of a precious sculpture of an ancient princess. She and her friend Aditi find an exact miniature replica of the sculpture and that sculpture transports them to another city. That’s how they come to know about the divine powers of the sculpture and they wonder if the large sculpture which got stolen had the same powers? Were its powers being the reason it got stolen or was it something else? Is money involved in the theft of the sculpture because it was ancient and really expensive?
Both girls try to solve that mystery with the help of some friends and find themselves in the middle of some weird ritual and the most disturbing thing was that Maitraiyi was performing it without even knowing it. It was as if she had no control over her body and her actions. Was it the end or the beginning of some tale?

The plot of the book was good and the novel would have been amazing had the author portrayed it beautifully. The book lacked creativity and the dialogues were not written properly. The flow of reading got disturbed because of it. With proper editing, the book could have been better. The cover picture is intriguing. I would recommend this book to those who are looking for a light read.

India has a very rich history and culture. Hence historical fiction and historical fantasy never fails to provide subjects to the writers. Author Monika Thakur has come up with a very interesting and unique interpretation of the history and sculptures.

Aditi and Maitreyi are best friends. Little did they know that their visit to Aditi's college would land them up in a controversial situation where they are prime suspects. They get involved in the theft of a priceless sculpture.

The book is a mix of different genres. The book could be categorised as a historical fiction, romance, fantasy and thriller. The multifarious genres and sub plots are connected seamlessly thereby giving the readers a magnificent literary experience. The pace of the book is quite fast and author has succeeded in maintaining the interest of the readers by switching the scenarios at the right time. The new characters that are introduced in between merge in with the plot. The fantasy experience of the girls is brief yet engaging. Initially it might look like unwanted but further the scenario justifies itself towards the climax.

The tiny wave of romance in the plot makes it interesting. Author has made sure that it doesn't go overboard so as to affect the mood of the book. The narration is above average but occasionally switches from a professional to amateur one, which could have rectified with a round of editing.

Maitreyi and Aditi are the best of friends. Coming home for the holidays, Maitreyi finds herself being chauffeured by Aditi to the launch of an exhibition that introduces the girls to a precious sculpture.

Curious about the history behind this beautiful statuette, they try to learn more about it only to realize soon that it has been stolen from a room where the door and windows were locked and bolted! Thus, starts a puzzling yet exciting journey that initially Maitreyi didn’t want a part in.

As I am a big Famous Five fan, the chapter names reminded me of the ones in the popular series which I really liked! The book has an amusing narration with some fantastic moments which I adored. I loved the author’s writing style and the entertainment quotient was high.

Each character had their own distinct roles to play and the author has made me interested in the role of Mr Seth, whom I would love to know more if the author decides to continue this series.

Overall, an interesting plot with history and mystery intermingled and presented into the lives of these girls. It is all about how they unveil the secrets behind the ancient sculptures and this journey is fascinating.

I have been reading more and more historical fictions lately and I had heard such good things about this book , i just couldn't wait to pick this one but maybe this book wasn't the correct book for me.

The narration begins when Maitreyi , a student studying in a foreign university returns to Delhi in her vacations. She meets her friend , Aditi , who is interning with a museum. Soon a sculpture from Aditi's college goes missing and the prime suspects of this are these two girls. But were they really involved?

Let's talk about the cover first. The author perfectly had me at the cover. It speaks for itself , a touch of historical with a spooky feel. Definitely would have been a cover buy for me.

The writing style is lucid and gripping. I felt soo connected to the story and it kept me hooked throughout. Some parts literally spooked me and my interest kept growing. The plot sounded fresh ; a blend of college friendship and theft off an antique sculpture but the story failed to create an impact on me.

The characterization is poor and nowhere could I connect to any character mentioned. They felt rushed and the descriptions were lousy. The story went haywire in the middle and I had to constant flip back pages to come in terms with what is happening in the story.

I was still okay with this fact as the story had me gripped ignoring all the negative aspects but the bummer came in the climax. It was rushed and not properly executed.

You can pick this up for the plot but can also skip it for the poor execution.

The plot revolves around two friends Maitreyi who returned back from abroad to Delhi and her lifelong friend Aditi, The story takes a twist when a sculpture with mysterious power was stolen from Aditi's college .
The starting of the story has too much explanation of the characters but not explained completely. Like Mr.Seth who remains a mystery till the end of the story. The story pacing was slow .

What makes the book more attractive is the cover picture. "The secret of the Sculptures".
Overall the story is good. An okay Historical fiction. It's A good read.

REVIEWED BY SOHINEE DEY

Monika Thakur’s book ‘The Secret of Sculptures’ is a very interesting book and I wasn’t really expecting the book to be this different (I mean it in a good way). ‘The Secret of The Sculptures’ tells the story of two friends Aditi and Maitreyi who gets caught up in the feud of finding a stolen sculpture from the museum. The sculpture was of supreme historical importance and a lot of research was going on to discover it’s importance or if it is any way linked to the past and it’s connection with other sculptures.

The concept was really interesting. I don’t think that I have read a book which is centred around a lost artefact. The backdrop of the book is a museum for most of the time but both the characters’ family lives were also shown briefly.

Maitreyi who has been studying abroad returns home during her holidays and gets connected with her childhood bestie Aditi who has been interning at the museum. These girls reminisce over their childhood and Bounce couldn’t keep himself from joining them. Maitreyi reluctantly agrees to go the party at the museum after Aditi asks her to join in. And it all starts from the visit to the museum.

I really liked the writing style of the author. Thakur has a descriptive writing style but she didn’t stretch the paragraphs too much which was a good thing. I also liked the narration. The words had a nice flow and the pace was consistent throughout the book. Another thing I would like to mention here is the sentence structuring. After a very long time, I read a book where the sentences are perfectly constructed. That sums up about the writing part.

The cover is also good and I could see the plot reflecting on the cover but I think it would have been better if there were two girls on the cover instead of one. Also, the title really goes well with the story. It’s straight forward and gives you could picturize what the story could be about.

The book is plot driven rather than character driven. There’s a lot of sub plots connecting to the main plotline and there are a handful of characters that contribute to the storyline. Now speaking of the characters, I do think that it would have been better if the author worked on the development of the characters a bit more. I couldn’t really get a peek of their personalities or their family lives and almost in the entire book, both the characters are talked of in pairs and hence I didn’t get to see much of their lives when they were just by themselves. So, I couldn’t analyse their characters in singles neither was I able to put myself in their shoes and feel what they were feeling and assess their thoughts.

There were certain scenes where the ending felt abrupt and the scene shifts were sudden. So I had to go back and read the last para to understand whether that particular scene is over. That was another part which I think could have been worked upon.

Other than these points, if I talk about the overall book, I would say that the plot is original and not rehearsed nor is it clichéd.

POESY IN CHRYSALIS RATING : ⭐⭐⭐.5 / ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Secret of the Sculptures is a funny, engaging story filled with interwoven thriller and intrigue that rarely, if ever, slows down. It’s a high-energy fantasy thriller with few pretensions, a consistently entertaining and engagingly crafted story that careens around an imaginary world that seemed real, glittering sculptures and anonymous people who has interest in the sculptures as each of its characters search for answers, seeking the real truth. And it’s a hell of a roller coaster fun to read.

Story starts a bit slow paced in the beginning but then gets super paced that you are sure that you won't be able to keep it down!

Monika's characters are blunt, forthright, and frequently caustic, and her writing suits them well. Aditi (Protagonist's friend) is my favorite packed with pakka girly innocence and naughtiness. Seth's hypnotic eyes and characterization were also equally important to get this story more hypnotic in the end. I don't remember Monika describing the features of girl characters as much as describing men characters (being tall and handsome) - it may be a bit of turn down for straight men :)

Interestingly, book never felt its stretched! You sure would see a roller coaster thriller fantasy! and I, for sure will be bit careful now when touching any ancient sculpture.

The protagonist- Maitreyi is exceedingly dominant and is everywhere- just everywhere as much as she thinks that the hypnotic eyed Seth is everywhere

Monika is refreshingly frank when constructing her characters, drawing clear distinctions among them.

Monika- it's time for the sequel :)

Monika Thakur in her new book: THE SECRET OF THE CAPTURES  has woven an intriguing story around the concept of loss and search of sculptures. Sculptures are the attraction of tourists and their values are immeasurable. The hidden secrets behind the creation of them are asufficient to not install an interest in the subjects.

This story makes you anxious, curious enough to know about the theft and the search for it.

In the beginning, it is a slow read the descriptive prose sprinkled with suspense events make the reading prose fun and gratifying. Sometimes it is full of revelations of hidden historic events and sometimes dripping with magic and mystery.

The plot revolves around the lifelong friends Aditi and Maitreyi and the theft of a priceless sculpture from Aditi’s college. There are totally 19 chapters and they are aptly captioned.

A journey begins

A theft occurs

A net is cast.

In respect of the theft, many a question arise.

Who has stolen the sculpture from the college n Delhi.?

Where is it kept now?

For answers to all these questions, you have to read the book.

The title and the cover design are catchy and related to the core theme of the book.

There is a fitting climax and you would be surprised to know the end.

This is not the typical run on the fast track with all the twists and turns but if you want to read a suspense thriller this book must be the book for you.

The plot is simple but what makes the book ok is the enticing style of the authoress.

Also, a great deal of efforts has gone into the making of character. It has got a set of interesting characters to keep the action in pace and end full support of the main ones.

An amazing read for fans of suspense thrillers associated with theft of sculptures and finding out of them.

This story is a perfect blend of two genres, cozy mystery and contemporary YA drama. This story revolves around two main characters, Maitrayee and Aditi who are best friends and meet after a while when they both return to their home town during their college holidays. Both girls just wanted to have some fun when unexpectedly they get tangled into a sticky web of a conspiracy regarding a mysterious artifact.
This novel is fast paced and a light read which you can devour anytime and in one sitting. I completed it within 2 days and enjoyed it a lot. There is very little action towards the end of the story which bugged me a little but other than that I enjoyed the flow of the story. Like any typical cozy mystery this story also includes drama involving friendship, romantic interests as well as a pinch of suspense.
I liked the unbreakable bond of friendship between the girls and the fact that rather than being secretly jealous of each other and trying to backstab, they were genuinely dedicated towards their friendship. I liked the side characters especially Mr. Seth with his mysterious attitude and behavior.
As per my personal opinion I think this story could have been cut short because towards the middle this story dragged a little and for a while I lost my interest but it again picked up speed towards the end. The inclusion of romantic interests for both the girls felt a little unnecessary because it stole the spotlight from the mystery part of the book.
The ending seemed rushed and abruptly everything was fine within the span of a chapter which disappointed me a lot. I think there would be a second book but I’m not sure. There were so many unanswered questions and we didn’t get any closure regarding the girls’ connection with this whole mystery and the fate of Mr. Seth.
Overall a nice and light read with a dash of some mystery which can be a good summer read especially for those who like cozy mysteries.
I would like to thank the publisher and the author to provide me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A fascinating sculpture of a warrior princess goes missing from the college premises and two young girls Maitreyi and Aditi who were present during this heist somehow gets too interested. Then goes the hunt for the missing sculpture and the luring secret it holds. Instantly, the plot took turn with the involvement of supernatural powers associated with the sculpture.
The book started with the slow pace but somehow the interest builds up during the middle and I really got into waiting for what’s coming next.
The uncommon plot is a good attempt by the author but somehow it had not been rightly exhibited. For instance, the way Maitreyi and Aditi happened to view how the sculpture was stolen didn’t go well with me. How it could be just like that! Also, I felt the way they get transported to a different place was a little unsettling.
There was no brief narration of what actually they are upto. And I still don’t know why Mr Seth was in the book. Besides, as a reader I didn’t connect with the character of Maitreyi and so too with Aditi.
Moreover, the end was a disappointment being abrupt and peculiar.
The plot has quite a potential which wasn’t taken care of. A little characterization and language improvement could have made it a five-star read.

Why to read this book
The book is distinctive in terms of a mix of an Indian sculpture story with paranormal powers. Ignoring little flaws, it could be a nice read for readers of this genre.

While I had very high expectations from this book, this one just did not work for me.
The story offers a fresh theme - the theft of an ancient sculpture, embroiling two young girls, a bunch a their friends, a dubious professor, a shifty mentor and a mysterious light-eyed man. However, the freshness was contained in the plot itself and did not manage to translate into the 236 pages.

The characters are immature and very poorly developed. I did not feel connected to any of them. Far from it, it was difficult for me to even imagine any of them. Also, at a point in time, I felt that there were way too many characters without any specific role to play. The numbers just added to the confusion and not to the plot.

The story-line was jumpy and the smooth flow that makes for a good book for me was missing. Also, the narrative was way too feelings-oriented. You will probably have to read the book yourself to know what I mean.

Not recommended. But may work for you.

Review-
I love to explore different genres, but then nothing can beat a good thriller or mystery.
The first feeling that I had was about the perfect title. The name of this book absolutely mysterious. The next thing that draws attention is the cover which gives an old world and exotic feeling.
Coming to the narration, the author wrote the entire book in a lucid manner which is easy to read and grasp.
The most striking aspect of the story is the touch of supernatural element which the author introduced with tact.
The first half of the story is written in a medium pace helping the readers to catch up with the events.
The exploration of friendship through the characters of Aditi and Maitreyi is one of the best aspects of this story.
The story kick-starts when the priceless sculpture is stolen and with a turn of fate Maitreyi and Aditi becomes the suspects.
While the girls try hard to prove their innocence the mystery deepens with the introduction of the shady Mr. Seth.
The girls also kind of stumble upon their romantic interests, which I felt diverted the attention from the main plot.
The climax of the story could have been described in a way which didn't feel rushed. The same was the case of the ending which was a little rushed too.
The overall plot was different and captivating. Something which would be enjoyed by a lover of mystery and crime.

“I got the book as a part of the review program in Outset“

The Secret of sculptures is about a theft of a precious historical sculpture from a college in delhi where one of the main lead Aditi is studying. Maitreyi and Aditi being childhood friends, aditi takes Maitreyi to the college on the day the sculpture is stolen. Police starts investigating, maitreyi and aditi see themselves getting embroiled in the controversy without having anything to do with it. An accidental tryst with the majestic powers of a similar miniature sculpture in a museum makes them realise that the stolen sculpture must have greater secrets and power other than just being immensely valuable.

What I liked?

More than the first half, the second half was comparatively more interesting. The interest bug that caught me there kept me hooked till the end.

The Narration was bang on from the second half. The first half is more about maitreyi and aditi, aditi being an intern in a museum she convinces maitreyi to join her for an exhibition and from there the plot starts heating up.

The story had college goers Maitreyi, Aditi, Rakesh and siddarth as the main protogonist and their adventures gave me a déjà vu feeling of reading famous five by enid blyton which had been my favourite since childhood.

I very much loved the parts where the four were involved, trying to escape and bravely facing and fighting everything that came their way.

I liked the main leads, Maitreyi was a strong character so was siddarth, aditi and rakesh were much shyer and straight.

Towards the end there are more magical titbits happening, it made sense to me and hence i enjoyed reading it. It has a different and unique storyline. The idea of writing fiction fantasy novel on sculptures, the myths and beliefs around them which is quite an indian thing was a very smart move and it did live upto the expectation to an extent. An Entertaining interesting adventurous story of four students, A la famous five.

I judge a book by how hard it is to put down, this was indeed hard to put down after the first part.

What I didn’t like?
There were certain characters whose purpose and role was not clear. There were some questions left unanswered. At the end I expected more clarity over the course of events but I was left confused.

Who may like it..

Anybody who likes adventurous stories…
Famous five, secret seven fans?.. want to taste an Indian version of it?
Just dive straight into it.

This book follows the story of Maitreyi and Aditi two friends who get caught up in a mystery whose unpredictable turns leaves not only them but even the readers stunned.
Being a lover of thrillers and mysteries, I found Monika Thakur's book a great example of how experiments can go around these genres to get the readers even after so many books another interesting and hooking tale.

The book features it features Delhi amid the late spring crush with Maitreyi home from foreign and Aditi filling in at a historical centre under her teachers. The story proceeds onward with chance experiences. The secret begins revealing when both the young ladies go to the gallery for a gathering of a recently discovered symbol, with a hypnotizing story of a princess. And afterward, inevitably it gets lost with the young ladies being at an unlucky spot.

Not giving away the plot, I would say that the readers get to encounter two male characters to support our protagonists along with the surprising supernatural elements. The way the author narrates the story with a good phase during almost the complete book you'll find yourself following the story closely.

After describing all of that about the plot, I can also admit that the book's title and the cover were also up to the point leaving no other alternatives for them. And the blurb of the book didn't give away any of the important spoilers too.

So, this is the book for everyone whose's looking for a unique type of mystery with the perfect blend of  Indian context.

This one's just awesome..... What a sensational reading experience, what an unconditional surrender to an atmosphere of fear, anxiety and confusion - and to an epic battle of wills!... A complicated, convoluted plot with intense action and lots of mystery, characterize the story. Powerful, brilliant, insightful and surprisingly engaging despite the fact that it is far from being a "light" read in either prose or content.

Aditi and Maitreyi are childhood friends and on and off studied in the same school. During a summer break Maitreyi is back home. During her journey she just happens to meet Mr.Seth travelling in the same flight and then their meeting continues almost everywhere she goes.. The real story starts when the two girls go for a party in a museum for a launch of a newly found sculpture. The sculpture goes missing and the two girls are the prime suspects. The sculpture is surrounded with some myth. You will be mesmerized reading this thriller. The last few pages will give you goosebumps.

This is for the first time i am reading a sculpture related thriller. We might have seen different types of thrillers ... treasure hunting, diamond theft etc but this is the first instance reading a novel which is having a new theme. This was a book is the one, I was unable to put down as the words flowed from their pages to deep within my heart.

I could harp on about all the themes and plots in this vast novel but I like keeping my Goodreads reviews brief. Basically, I thought this was really good. I highly recommend this novel as well, so read it guys! Don't be scared, unless you’ve ever tried to heist a sculpture... in your life.
Very enjoyable read!.

Curtain:

Standing, shaking, roaring ovations!

3.5/5🌟

I have mixed feelings about this book.
Firstly I liked the storyline and the concept, it's quite unique and diverse. You don't always come across such stories.
The writing style was average but the story was dragged a lot, there was a lot of unnecessary info dumping done, infact the actual story starts after about 30 pages.
The language was easy going and lucid. The cover is designed sceptically keeping in mind the interest of a reader and the title is chosen appropriately keeping in mind the curiosity of a reader.
The story takes a slow pace in the between
The plot too turns weak at some point .
The characters and the supporting characters were very well developed, the emotions of each character is crafted beautifully and presented perfectly.
The places and scenes are described intricately.
At a point of time I felt it difficult to continue reading it however a few twists and turns rekindle in your curiosity and motivates you to go ahead.
The story was predictable towards the end.
The narration was good but it could be better.
I would have definitely loved it if it wasn't go overstretched, but overall this was an average read I would recommend it if you're looking for a fresh read.

The Secret of the sculptures

Cover is beautiful & has been designed well. The standalone figurative representation of the girl here embodiments a positive vibe in the reader's mind. Also the design of the sculpture justifies the theme of the book.

Title is catchy, it's unique & pleasant to read. Felt good picking it up for the first time.

The plot & story centres around 2 girls who happen to be lost while tracking a lost piece of artifact, a stolen sculpture to be precise. Not to mention, they're friends who work in the same museum & the prime importance of their job renders to the basic understanding of the fact that the artifact stolen was of utmost importance & has forms the missing link which establishes a connection with other sculptures & it's related counterparts.

Conceptualisation is good & remains interesting throughout as the story unfolded. Plot is good, though fast paced. Sequential analysis is missing. Characterisation is bad, it could have been a lot better & could have been enhanced further.
Language & narration seemed okay enough. A good book for suspense thriller readers & would love the concept revealed here!

The story begins with Maitreyi coming home for her vacation. On the flight home, she encounters a mysterious stranger with hypnotic eyes.
Back home, she meets up with her best friend Aditi and accompanies her to an exhibit at the museum where Aditi is interning.
There, Maitreyi and Aditi meet many people like Aditi’s senior Archana Ma’am, Professor Dixit, the seductive Mrs. Shiela and the mysterious stranger from the plane who turns out to be Mr. Seth. The highlight of the exhibit is a rare sculpture of a warrior princess.
The next day when Maitreyi and Aditi return to the museum, the sculpture is stolen and then the action begins. Maitreyi discovers a miniature of the stolen sculpture which turns out to have supernatural powers.
This miniature takes Maitreyi and Aditi on an adventure. Of course the question remains as to whether they are able to recover the stolen sculpture. The reader needs to read the book to find out.
I recommend this book to readers as fairly engaging and interesting.

Two friends, Aditi and Maitreyi meet after after a long time in Delhi and are hoping to have a fun vacation ahead. Little did they know that they are going to fall into a pit of mysteries of a precious, priceless, stolen sculpture.
They come across a mysterious, hypnotic man, Mr. Seth time and again. What happened to the sculpture? Who is Mr. Seth and what is his mystery?

There is a tint of historic aroma to this book. Even though it's new age, you cannot stop yourself from feeling ancient. It is slow in the beginning but it's totally worth the wait because of the many twists and turns that take place later.
It does go with the title as the sculptures are not mere sculptures but a lot more than that.
When we come to the language, it's not basic but not complicated either. Though the book must be revised for a few editing errors.
For me, Maitreyi was a very relatable character. I am hoping for the sequel of the book to come out soon.
I definitely recommend it to the people who want to experience a roller coaster while reading.

The story revolves around Aditi and Maitreyi, two best friends and how
destiny plays the cards when it gets them tangled to 'the secret of the sculpture' that's stolen and they are witness to it.

The narration is a blend of mystery and paranormal.
Where mystery takes a higher ground sometimes and then it's turn for the supernatural. The blend has been introduced with selective ingredients but their numbers are in abundance, that can be enthralling if the pace is fast throughout but when the pace is median in the beginning, impressively fast towards the end; arising the souls of our expectations; and languid in its ending- it becomes irksome.

The selection of words has done enough justice to the plot, the characterization could have been improvised.

What's really superlative about the book is the way the chapters twist towards the end, that's appreciable. The book would have been prodigious if the culmination was at par.

Hopefully the sequence will keep the pace alive all throughout.

First of all thanks to the author for providing me the book for a honest review. This book is about two friends Aditi and Maitreyi. They two get involved unknowingly in a theft of scultpure. It was like reading a fairy tale but an incomplete one. Author could have made this story more juicy. I still feel the story is incomplete because there is no proper mention of the secret of the sculpture. I still have questions like what is the secret behind sculpture, why the things happened in climax happened. Don't know what to interpret about the book as I liked the book but it feels like incomplete. Author has used very simple language and in places it feels like the narration is too obvious. Overall I would say a good but incomplete Goodread... 😊

This is a story of two girls, Maitreyi and her best friend Aditi. Maitreyi is a student in a foreign university and come to Delhi for a vacation. Her friend Aditi is interning with a museum. Both of them decide to attend the unveiling of a sculpture party at the museum Aditi was interning with. At the museum, Mr. Seth talks about the mesmerizing story of a warrior princess; a princess who goes to war for her kingdom. I will not talk much about the story as you must read it!
The concept is really good. Not many Indian authors have written about a lost sculpture in a setting of a museum.

The Reader's Heart:

The mystery part of the story is most involving and highlighting part of this book.
The kind of mystery added with supernatural powers make it a great read.

What I did not like:
Well there is nothing as particular which I did not liked but I wish the 2 Protagonists would have been more stronger than as presented.

A story of two best friends,Aditi and Maitreyi. Maitreyi visits her home, and meets Aditi for dinner in a museum. They meet Mr.Seth there, and get to know about sculptures. The very next day they visit Aditi's and the story from there takes a turn.🔰
The plot is very new and different. The twists are great.
I loved how all the incidents are explained.❤

“You don’t know all this yet , perhaps you do not have all your powers yet . But be sure , they exceed mine . What I searched for , found you “

It took me two whooping days to read this book and the whole time I couldn’t predict what would happen next , which trust me is something refreshing for me. Time and again we come across those books which are different and leave us spellbound with their story weaving techniques, well this book did that to me . I enjoyed every moment of reading it . It tried mingling the present with the secrets of the past . It entwined a beautiful legend along with the protagonists present making you hope for more .

So the story revolves around Maitreyi and her best friend forever Aditi , it showcases Delhi during the summer break with Maitreyi back home from a foreign university and Aditi working as an intern at a museum under her college professors. The beginning is all based on chance encounters. With Maitreyi bumping into a Mr. Seth in her airplane , and then eventually everywhere . Our protagonist has this inkling that Mr. Seth had more to him then what could be seen , and an ability to look inside people. The mystery starts uncovering when both the girls go to the museum for a launching party of a newly found idol , with a mesmerizing story of a warrior princess , kingdom and war to credit its origin . And then eventually it gets lost with the  girls being at the wrong place at the wrong time .

There are supernatural elements at play in this book , which makes it moreover interesting. Such as teleporting , visions , sudden showcase of past events virtually . All in all it the book keeps you enthralled and mesmerized . The book was definitely a page turner with various interesting characters in the mix with a perfect blend of Indian mythology.
And no two college going girls can be left without  guys to partner them up with . So the two girls along with the guys who like them (and vice versa) go on a journey from Delhi to the hills of Belapur trying to undercover the thief and the story behind the idol . There being a lot of running away from the goons and trying to find the culprit.

But I personally felt that at some points the book got a little slow , and it felt as if the guys for the protagonists  wanted to be a part of the action without the girls being there, in a way trying to save them , which at points irritated me , so the comebacks the girls gave were perfect . Because more than girl/boy there is always power in numbers in an adventure .  And the protagonist has to be there everywhere (she’s of high importance)

So if you want to try a mystery, adventure book with the Indian context read this , because trust me it wont disappoint . It had the perfect combinations of emotions , come backs, situation and dialogues with the end making you want more . I personally feel that there should be a sequel because there is a lot more that can be unraveled .

“put a passably decent face on a guy and her friend would be insensible to all other deficits”
