Garuda is a mythological creature. This story is based on Sri Lankan rural life during British era; especially about how people were into superstitions and pagan rituals and thought harvest, sickness and everything else is based on disapproval of gods.
This story takes place in colonial Sri Lanka. It shows the shift to using cash and how the British implemented their crops and roads etc which led farmers to do other jobs. The storyline is not one of my favourites.

I loved the amount of research the author has put into the book. It paints such a good picture about old colonial village life in Sri Lanka. Good read!
