Aixa and the Spider is the concluding chapter of the three-part La Bruja Roja urban fantasy series. It is a short read--approximately 30 pages--meant for readers with busy lives.
Aixa Riley is a Mexican-American woman living in the border town of Sangre de Cristo, a place that not only marks the dividing line between two countries, it straddles two realms--the land of the living and the land of the dead. Brought up by her grandmother to be a bruja (a witch), Aixa is waging a supernatural war against another witch--the powerful Rosamara Quintana, also known as the Spider.
This story takes place directly after the events of Aixa and the Shark, part 2 of La Bruja Roja as Aixa battles the forces of darkness for the soul of her town and the soul of the man she loves as well.
Kat Parrish is a former reporter who prefers making things up! An Army brat, her motto is "Have passport, will travel." She has lived in seven states and two foreign countries and would love to celebrate her 100th birthday with a trip into space. She lives in the Pacific Northwest near a haunted cemetery.
I would've liked Aixa's adversary to play a more active role in the story. She appears a handful of times, very briefly, so she seems very one-dimensional, not like an actual person at all.
