Having compared an audience to a stopped clock in his introduction to this volume, Marowitz shows the reader the background to these adpatations and of the spirit in which they are made. The "clock" has neither been thrown out, nor has it been disembowelled and turned into a more reliable battery-run model.

I really love the way Marowitz explores the plays. His reworking of Hamlet showed me many things in the original Hamlet that I'd never seen before and gave me a new appreciation of it.

Only read Measure for Measure but it was quite good!
