OCAAT: One Child At A Time

Rate this book
A More Than Skin Romances are my self-published romance titles. Stories under this heading will have an African American woman as the heroine and the hero will be a man of other ethnicities or nationalities. These stories will be interesting and entertaining, filled with warmth, humor, sex, and love. These are stories that demonstrate that it’s the characters of the hero and heroines the ultimately matter. Their values, their traits are what attract them to each other, and it’s those things that mean the most, as we are so much more than skin.

Sydney King doesn’t have much in the way of family or money, but she has guts and intelligence in spades, and big dreams for her future. When she transfers to The Woodlands High School for ninth grade, she finds herself in way over her head and looks for help.

Graham Garrison has everything—money, freedom, and charm; the darling of his community. His senior year is all about having fun and looking forward to college. He admires Sydney’s drive and dedication and agrees to tutor her.

They’re an unlikely pair, but Graham and Sydney form a powerful bond. But then their friend Brian becomes convinced there’s a rash of missing children afoot, reaching the highest echelon of their neighborhood. When everything they knew about their home is under fire, will their feelings for each other carry them through

Interesting

This was a good story but different from Ruthie's normal writing style. I hate cliffhangers and I normally give them one star ratings but I could never give Ruthie a one star rating. The storyline with Brandon, Brian, and OCAAT got boring after a while to me. I just wanted to know what was going on and move past it. I think the romance between Graham and Sydney will be a beautiful story. The reason for the four-star rating is because of the cliffhanger and there were quite a few typos in this book which isn't something that I've ever seen in any of Ruthie's past writings.

I have been a fan of the this romance writer for quite a while and was interested to read this book as it is a bit of a transition piece. This is the first of a two book set and Book One is all the set up. Including the introduction to the characters, which are the usual for this author - well developed and intriguing. It is the setting of the plot and the background that will be needed to enjoy the second book. So, the quality that I have learned to expect from this author is all there, there's just two things missing - the conclusion and her wonderful romance scenes. But I can wait - Looking forward to reading Book Two.
