When Kai and Brya fled their home planet for Alliance space as teenagers, their lives took dramatically different paths: Kai joined the Alliance Fleet, and Brya found herself tangled in a smuggling operation. Twelve years later, Brya has reformed and wants to leave that life behind, but she has one more illegal run to complete before she can. A chance encounter with Kai at Karys Station means she doesn’t have to make that last trip alone. But old feelings have a way of resurfacing when there are few ways to pass the time on board a clunky old space freighter, and Brya and Kai discover they have more than smugglers to worry about. Does a freighter captain with a criminal past really have a chance at a future with a law-abiding Fleet officer, especially when she broke his heart years before?

Our heroine needs to complete one last job before starting a new life. But then our hero shows up and brings up feelings from the past. Maybe she has more to look forward to then she knew.
The story is well written and easy to read with strong well developed characters and an engaging plot. The loved all the vast setting of space itself and visiting the different locations. The plot also involved lots of action and adventures, as well as a bit of romance. Overall, it made for a great combination and an entertaining read leaving me looking forward to more by this author.
Highly recommended.

Rapture is a captivating little Sci-Fi Space Opera Romance that follows the two teenage leads Kai and Brya from their disastrous arranged marriage that forces them to flee their home world. Twelve years later as adults we meet them again after being apart during those intervening years and no longer married. I enjoyed the adventure they soon find themselves immersed in as this well written second chance at love sweeps the reader away.

Kai and Brya had to flee their home planet as teenagers. Each went their separate ways at the time, Kai joining the Alliance military and Brya caught up in a smuggling situation. Now Brya wants to get away from that lifestyle and start over when she completes her final assignment. Unexpectedly meeting Kai, will she get his help completing the assignment? Will he get her totally out of that situation? Will they be open to starting over together in a new relationship?
This was such a surprise read - short but paced perfectly so that you stay wrapped up in the action, but not too fast that you dont get emotionally invested in our characters. There's a Han-Leia vibe going on with Kai and Brya which works well as the second chance element comes more and more into dominance. This is like a hit of espresso - thoroughly enjoyed and would love to see longer stories in this story-world!.
