In this expanded edition of Let Go, best-selling author and successful online entrepreneur Pat Flynn explores what it means to let go of the things that keep us from the journeys we yearn to forge and the achievements we aspire to attain.
With eight new chapters, Flynn shares with readers the wisdom he’s learned during the years since he was let go from his architecture job during the height of the U.S. economic downturn. As told in the first edition of Let Go, Flynn used that set back to forge his own path and has gone on to become one of today's most beloved thought leaders in the areas of Internet business, online marketing, and lifestyle entrepreneurialism.
Building upon the first edition of Let Go, this expanded edition continues Pat’s story with a comprehensive exploration of the act and art of “letting go” as an integral part of the growth we all seek as humans, as told through the lens of an eight-year online business journey—with its highs and lows to learn from and apply to your own journey.
Let Go gives you a view into your potential future—to feel inspired about what’s possible, and also understand some of the struggles and challenges that might arise as you build your own business and create the life you want to live. You’ll discover how Pat was challenged by and learned to let go of the desire to say yes to everything, let go of the limiting belief that he could control all facets of his business, let go of the reluctance to embrace change, and so much more.
If you share Pat's impulse to pursue your own path, but may not know what to let go or how to let go in order to achieve that, then you'll find value within the pages of Let Go. After all, we all must confront the same risky idea if we are to unlock our true letting go.

Bardzo ciekawa, inspirująca książka, która ponownie obudziła we mnie chęć, by dokończyć projekty, nad którymi pracowałam i by zrealizować parę schowanych do kąta (naprawdę niezłych!) pomysłów.
Żałuję, że była trochę za krótka i że momentami autor trochę za bardzo uciekał w dygresje, ale tak czy inaczej, uważam, że to niezwykle wartościowa lektura.
I'd give it 10 stars if I could! I've been listening to Pat for a while now, and his story is quite amazing. Listening to his podcasts, he reveals what he did to get to where he's at in his business, and he is completely transparent. I thought I'd heard his story told time and again on the podcast, but that was just part of the story. Prior to reading Let Go, I hadn't experienced all the detail. It's a quick read, but you can tell every emotion he had at the time is in the book. It's like I'd heard his story in the podcast, but I went behind the scenes and re-lived the moments with him in the book. I even got a little teary-eyed in parts of it, because of the relationship I felt to him through the podcast.
Excellent package (Videos too!), well worth the $3 (Just skip Starbucks one day and pick it up, already!!)
I've been following Pat for a few years now and even had the pleasure to hear him speak at FINCON. So basically I've heard this story before. If you've never heard of Pat or just learned about him, this is a nice overview of how he got to where he is today.
It's a fast and inspiring read, nice to know the back story behind Pat Flynn's success, but much less actual meat than Will It Fly which I read first. When the book ended I thought, wait, that's it? Where is the rest of it?
“Everyone has a plan ‘til they get punched in the mouth.” “Anxiety is nothing but repeatedly re-experiencing failure in advance.” - Seth Godin
Just what I needed at this very moment... It lets me see what was happening on the mind of pat while he went to the struggles of building and growing his business. I don't know if most of the people who write stuff like this is flat out lying or if they are just superhumans... but pat does it on a way that you can clearly see his flaws and see that he is human just like you are, he has (or had) the same type of problems and self doubts... but he keeps going, support them and now... is at the top of his field and living a happy life!
The book is everything I needed to fill me in with self doubt and making decisions on my own. It taught me so much about letting go of fear and apprehensions and rather choose to follow that little spark of desire you have in your soul to accomplish one thing and the first step is to let go. I love this book also because Pat discussed about practicalities and working out your dreams and goals in action. This us a great life book! 😊
It is a short and sweet book about Pat's journey into entrepreneurship. It was really inspiring. Even though he went through the economic crisis in 2008, which led him to his ecommerce business, the idea and motivations are what we in Covid-19 era can definitely relate to. It is a small concise book you can finish in a day.
I follow Pat Flynn on his podcast and I instantly enjoyed his shows from day one. His books and media content are both enjoyable and interesting. I will purchase more from Mr Flynn. Great work.
Flynn’s writing may not be stellar, but his story is. I could relate to “fear of missing out” and the need to think bigger and clearer, rather than being reactionary and completing task lists all day.
The journey of Pat Flynn from am architect to a successful online business creator, the steps, the mistakes, the mentors and mind changes he needed to get there. If you're thinking creating an online presence this is a great guide to start and grow. Great book
Thank you, Pat Flynn for this inspiring book. I just realized now that I am still the elephant tied to a small stake and short chain, and I ought to do something about it. The story is concise and Pat really omitted the parts people would find boring, making things straight to the point.
Thought this would be an actual book, but it's pretty much a long blog post in book format. Interesting but not what I was hoping for...would have loved more detail and info.
I always wondered how Pat did it all. Thanks to Let Go I know the story now. Cheers Pat for sharing your story, its always a pleasure to learn from you.
One of the reviews on amazon indicated all filler, no killer and that best describes my view of the book. Perhaps if I hadn't been following his blog and podcast for some time, it would have been more informative.
First half of the story is about his journey from an Architect to getting laid off to building his web platform and tribe. Good story, but needed an insertion of techniques and killer wins that are included in his other media (podcast and blogs). The second half is about his current personal life and probably better viewed (video) than read.
Worth a read, but you shouldn't expect to gather knowledge about his platform. For that, it's best to visit his website, smartpassiveincome.com.
Pat Flynn, the affectionate, incurable, vulnerable online business teacher who poured out his soul to yell his story. You could tell right from the first chapter that he was telling his story with one purpose in mind - to encourage every reader that it’s possible. It felt like he was speaking to me - one-on-one narrating his story. I was tremendously encouraged. What did I like about the book? His honesty and his will to pass on his experiences. I will recommend those looking to make a passive income online to read this book. He deserves my 5 stars.
An interesting read during this MCO time. Letting go and overcoming fear is what we need now, although the author was referring more to the business world. An inspiring narration of the author's career...from layoff to reinventing himself in online businesses. If you have no time to read, check out Pat Flynn's podcast or YouTube...lots of sharing by the author.
I especially like the quote below: "Fear is good. Like self-doubt, fear is an indicator. Fear tells us what we have to do. Remember one rule of thumb: the more scared we are of a work or calling, the more sure we can be that we have to do it.”
Pat Flynn gives the back story of how he lost his dream job as an architect during a downturn in the industry. But the story is not a downer. Pat's job lost became a stepping stone that led to his creation of one of the most popular business podcasts in the world.
Pat probably earns more now than he ever would have as an architect and he shares some of the lessons he learned along the way that you can replicate. To be honest, Will It Fly? or Superfans are better books if you want to learn some of what Pat knows, but this is a great book to follow-up his other books if you are still looking for more Pat.
This book was my first real introduction to Pat Flynn and his story, but it's a familiar story. The real benefit to this book is the "anyone can do it" mindset that it gives the reader, and the snippets of the battle that his external world and internal thinking were throwing in is way toward success.
I was hoping for a more specific guide to getting up and going with internet marketing but was not disappointed with what I did get from this book. And the bonus content helps to make it all more real. Well done, Pat!
As a publishing consultant, I always tell my clients there's a trick to writing a memoir that people would actually want to read. Pat Flynn has mastered it in his book, Let Go. I was interested in his story from beginning to end and even LOL a few time. I love the bonus videos he created and shared throughout the book and the time he spent creating the complimentary videos really showed how much he appreciate his audience.
I love Pat, and I appreciated this book. I read this book during a time when I was a little discouraged and this book was a great inspiration. At one point I actually got up from my reading because this book encouraged me to take action. I would have liked to have given it five stars, but I felt that the book was a little disjointed at times. But, having said that, it is well worth a read, particularly if you’re familiar with Pat.
Based on the author's personal journey from the corporation employment to being an internet entrepreneur and successful leader, it's a sort of guide how to develop oneself and find passion, take risks, build the relationships that forge the process and allow you to repeat the cycle.
The book is written really well, doesn't have the usual self-help fluff, and has lots of hands-on examples from the real life of the author.
I would not recommend this book to most people. It is not a bad book, but it just isn't full of high value content. It is one anecdote, one case study, and not a very comprehensive one at that. You may find some inspiration in it, and there are a few tidbits of wisdom.
I got this book for free, and that was the price worth paying for it... Maybe I'd pay a buck for it.
It was interesting to hear some of Pat's story. He's definitely one of the most genuine, interesting people in online marketing with a strong story behind him.
Maybe this was more of a personal preference issue in that I had hoped for a little bit more actionable content.
This book serves it's purpose, but depending upon where you are on your journey, this will be useful for you or not.
A personal development book that describes the experience of the author himself of letting go of the past bounding mental obstacles and opening up toward new ideas and paths of prosperity. Most of it, though is about the online approaches for making money rather than getting stuck in the old fashioned classical employments.. was a good listen, overall.
