A ghost behind your back. at the mercy of the light and dark. That’s right Bon-Bon. Fake it till you make it. WOW!!! What an ABSO-SPELLING-LUTELY fantastic story!! This is my first kindle worlds book related to The Vampire Diaries in any way and I love, Love, LOVED it!! I love Bonnie! And what an adventure this was for her and me! I can honestly say that I didn't expect anything that happened to/with/around her in London, but that is also one of the many reasons I loved it so much! All of the mysteries had me captivated and determined to be right there with Bonnie to discover, unravel, solve each one of them, even make things right, if need be. In fact, I was so caught up in it, in the mysteries, the students, the story itself, I almost thought that I had been hit by a spell or was compelled or something! Then it hit me! Of course I was so incredibly captivated, transported into the story, living it with and as Bonnie, unable to put it down until there wasn't anything left to read, not because I was compelled, but because it is written by the tremendously talented Marissa Farrar!! Her gift is writing the very books I love, Love, LOVE to read, become deeply ensconced in, that are filled with the complex characters I love to become, living & experiencing everything with, through, for and as them! This book is no different, and that makes it even more exceptional!! It can't be easy staying true to an already existing character that isn't yours, while also staying true to you & your writing, but Marissa does do it impeccably! "Bonnie Bennett. I’ve been waiting a very long time to meet you."
I haven't read any of this series before but I am a big fan of this author so thought I'd give it a go and I am really pleased that I did. I read it in one sitting and although this is a short novella a surprising amount happens. Bonnie has come to London to teach witchcraft, and was thrilled to be offered the opportunity. However all is not as it seems. There are mysterious shadow people, a missing predecessor and the number thirteen keeps cropping up. The fact that previous characters and incidents are mentioned doesn't detract from this as a stand alone but I am intrigued now to look up the previous books. Fast paced and well written with a fair amount of paranormal/witchy action. 4.5/5 Stars from me.
I very much enjoyed this novella. It was interesting, suspenseful, and a lot happened during the duration of the story. I liked the good vs. evil aspect of the story, and how it opened up Bonnie's eyes as to how much more there is in the world other than her little corner. All in all well done, and thank you for the opportunity to read and review this work!
