USA Today Bestselling Author Kristen Ethridge loves watching waves at the beach, eating the perfect taco, and reading books that leave her with a smile. Some would say her superpower is keeping alive one husband, three children, and six guinea pigs during their adventures across Texas--but that's not entirely true. She actually earned her sparkly cape for writing her signature style of Sweet Escape Romances--stories with hope, heart and happily-ever-after--for Harlequin's Love Inspired line, Hallmark Publishing, and Laurel Lock Publishing. One reader (who wasn't her mother) called Kristen's books "very good escape fiction" and that's pretty much the nicest thing anyone's ever said to her.

Every. Single. Story.

I cried my way through every one.

I'm in love with the creators of these imaginary people that seemed so real that I could sense them lifting from the pages and into my heart.

And, please, don't ask for my favorite. I simply can't pick just one.

This is a sweet boxed set of inspirational romances. Most of these authors are new to me, and I am glad to have had the opportunity to become acquainted with their work. The individual stories are a length that you can easily read in a sitting, so don’t let lack of time prevent you from picking up this set.

THEIR FOREVER HOMECOMING by Kristen Ethridge

I really enjoyed this Christian love story about second chances by Kristen Ethridge. It is a perfect start to this collection.

Here we meet Meg McMahon, a young woman who has returned to her home town for the first time since marrying her high school sweetheart, football star quarterback Dan Clark. The marriage ended and she carefully avoided being anyplace where she might run into him. That changed the day she had to stop by the athletic office of Port Provident High School where Dan now was the school football head coach. It is not until sees Meg with Ellie that he realizes he has a daughter.

Is there any chance that Meg will forgive him for the mistakes he made as her husband? Is it possible for a reconciliation? How will Ellie react to meeting her father? Read this emotionally charged story to learn if there is any chance for the three of them to become a family.

NO SUBSTITUTE FOR YOU by Jessica Keller

This sweet story finds ghostwriter Jaime Abbot making a return to her hometown. She is more than a little dismayed to find that the cottage on her aunt’s property where she expected to live will instead by occupied by her now divorced high school boyfriend, Hunter McCoy, and his young daughter, Raylee. She will instead be moving into her former bedroom in the main house.

The story is sweet and well written. There are some twists that make you wonder if a reconciliation will indeed take place, but I’m going to make you read the book if you want to know for certain the answer to that question. This is a good one to pick up if you are looking for a quick and pleasant read.

LOVE BY THE LETTER by Cate Nolan

Emma is a well- loved second grade teacher who learns at the last minute that a dyslexic child will be joining her class. That comes as no surprise since she has had exceptional success in working with children with reading disabilities. However, this child is new to town and she wonders how the parent knew to ask that his daughter, Amy, knew to ask she be placed in her class.

What a shock it is to learn that Amy’s dad is Brady, her childhood best friend and teen crush. Brady broke her heart when he started dating someone else during their senior year in high school. Amy is his daughter resulting from that marriage. How will she be able to handle the hurt she still feels when faced with a reminder of her love sitting in her classroom every day?
Ms. Nolan does an excellent job of helping the reader get to know Emma and Brady. We learn what brought them together as children and what later made Brady marry somebody else. We are able to follow their hearts as they progress to a possible reconciliation. And you cannot help but adore Brady’s sweet daughter, Amy. I loved following their story to see if they could rekindle old feelings. She is a new author to me, but I have a feeling I’ll be reading more of her work.

BACK IN THE COWBOY’S ARMS: A PARADISE NOVELLA by Tina Radcliffe

Welcome to Paradise, Colorado where Elle Reynolds has returned to town after accepting an eight-week position as a substitute teacher. One of her is Hannah Tanner, a young girl who lives with her guardian, cowboy Mitch Logan.

It turns out the Elle and Mitch have a romantic history. Ms. Radcliffe provides enough background to let us know what happened to their prior relationship and how it shaped the way they feel when we meet them.

While cowboy stories are not really my favorite, I very much enjoyed this novella. The cowboy work in this case shapes Mitch’s character and is not the stereotype romanticized character.

LOVE SO STRONG by Merrillee Whren

Merrillee Whren has contributed a delightful Christian romance to this set.

Teacher Sedona Welch if offered the challenge of tutoring a troubled boy who is new to town. After meeting with Cody Dunn, his uncle and guardian, Sedona agrees to work with young Mason Turner. Since she has set herself a goal of losing 15 pounds, she accepts Cody’s offer to act as her personal trainer in exchange for tutoring Mason.

Mason quickly learns to like and trust Sedona, but can Cody establish a friendly relationship with the tutor? You must read this story to see how they learn to let down their barriers.

I felt the major characters were developed well enough to know and like them. The peripheral characters are not as fleshed out, but that has no impact on the story. This is a sweet tale and I am very happy that it is included in this set.

HIS NOT-SO-HIGH-SCHOOL SWEETHEART by Cheryl Wyatt

Cheryl Wyatt has paid tribute to a friend in this romance.

Kelli Potter is a teacher in the school where her great uncle is principal. Much to her dismay, she learns that the substitute teacher he has hired for the year while the regular instructor is out of the country just happens to be Joe Calvert, the boy who broke her heart when she was a student there. She is determined to avoid him.

What happens when the two of them meet again? Can she get over the heartbreak and anger of Joe breaking up with her to be with her friend Ginger? Now that Joe is a widower, is it possible for him to learn to love for a second time?

The reader is also introduced to the establishment of Motif Mansion, a home for terminally ill children. Kelli is invited to take part in developing a stage and putting together entertainment for the children and their families. We get to the grand opening in this story with the promise of reading more in future books.

Ms. Wyatt does an excellent job of helping us understand what these two characters are feeling and how those feelings translate into how they relate to each other. Others are not as well- developed but are used as tools in shaping the story.

This is the first time I have read this author and look forward to seeing more from her.

I was provided an advance copy of this set by one of the authors. My review is entirely voluntary.

As a retired teacher, this unique fall collection let me experience the Back to School rush. As an avid reader, I was familiar with authors Jessica Keller and Merrillee Whren. In this delightful boxed set I discovered four new authors: Kristen Ethridge, Cate Nolan, Tina Radcliffe and Cherly Wyatt. The novellas had well developed characters, who faced school related challenges and fears. Several had the theme: second changes. As a Michigander, I enjoyed Jessica Keller's Michigan setting in No Substitute For You, especially the King's Cove Autumn Apple Festival. My favorite novella was Cate Nolan's Love by the Letter. Cate Nolan's description of the first day of school from a teacher's perspective was spot on. She also did an excellent job explaining dyslexia, a problem many students face.

A set of six very good novellas from six different authors. I started this set because I wanted to read the author Merrillee Whren's book, Love So Strong, which is included in the set. Whren did not disappoint me at all with her sweet story that includes an adorably eight year old boy Mason. Then I started reading all of them because it was so good. The authors include Kristen Ethridge, Jessica Keller, Cade Nolan, Tina Radcliffe, Merrillee Whren and Cheryl Wyatt. Some of these were authors I had read before and some were new. None disappointed me. Each author did an excellent job of weaving a romance around the back-to-school theme. Not back to school as in a student, but going back. Each novella is set in a different part of the country.
As well as the romance in each book the whole set was inspiring as the challenges of forgiveness, peace with past mistakes, mending broken hearts, reliance on God for direction and second changes were a part of the novellas. Some very precious children were included in some of the stories. Dyslexia was addressed in one of the stories with good solid information that fit with the story.
I like reading sets of books because generally the books are short and I can read one quickly. A good way to read a book in an evening. That was my plan but this one kept calling me to keep reading to the next one. So I read all six and recommend them to you to enjoy. I call it a five star set.

Perfect for back-to-school reading, these six stories will touch your heart, feed your soul, make you laugh, cheer your favorite characters on and delight in watching the romance unfold in each one. There wasn't one that stood out as a “favorite” because I enjoyed each one with it's unique storyline and authors voice to bring it to life. These deal with real life issues such as forgiveness, overcoming past hurts, learning how to move on, forging a new life, and second chances all while relying on God's help and guidance. The faith message was clear in each one and had a something that spoke to me in different ways. I love when an author lets the light of Christ shine through! I fell in love with all the characters, especially when they featured children. They always add a fun factor! I also found these to draw me into the story quickly and never lacked depth or emotion, I found plenty of both in each one. A delightful mix of inspirational short stories to enjoy anytime of day or night and in any season!

I tend to not read novellas , because I find that they don’t have much of a plot and they feel rushed.
Well, I have to say, that these stories are not your run of the mill novellas. Each is a story unto itself.
I specially loved Their Forever Homecoming by Kristen Ethridge.
Ms. Ethridge gives us a story filled with a complex plot as well as well developed characters. Dan Clark was the quarterback that fell in love with the Meg McMahon, the girl from the other side of the tracks. They married but divorced after 2 years and never met again. Meg returns to town to help her aunt and crosses Dan’s path. Without divulging the plot, suffice is to say that it’s a heartbreaking , heartwarming and thought provoking story about betrayal, trust, faith and forgiveness. Unconditional love is hard to give, but so worthwhile. Will these two resolve their differences. Have they matured after all this years and will they trust God and themselves to move forward?
A book that will be worth your time.
I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is a wonderful collection of Christian romances. Each story is clean and is written by a different author. The stories can be read in any order and the only common theme in each of them is that at least one character is a teacher. There are no cliffhangers and each story is different (there aren't any continuations of storylines between the novellas). I was so impressed with the quality of all of these stories! And the price really can't be beat. I highly recommend this set. I have included a brief summary of each of the stories:

Their Forever Homecoming-Kristen Etheridge

Great start to this anthology! This was a new author to me and I loved this story. I'm thrilled to see she has lots of other books and quite a few of hers are available on Kindle Unlimited! Yay! Just added a bunch onto my "to read" wish list! 5 stars for this first story.

No Substitute for You - Jessica Keller

This was another new author for me. Very pleased with this story also and I'm looking forward to reading more of her works. This story is about reconnecting with an old love and starting again as a new family. Very well written.

Love by the Letter - Cate Nolan

As a Resource Teacher myself, this story about a little girl with Dyslexia really touched my heart.

Back in the Cowboy's Arms - Tina Radcliffe

This wasn't my favourite. There were many grammatical and spelling errors throughout and I didn't connect as much with the story.

Love So Strong -Merrillee Whren

Another sweet story. I liked this one.

His Not-So-High-School Sweetheart Motif Mansion Series –Book One Cheryl Wyatt

I enjoyed the humour in this story. This one was different too in that both main characters were teachers. It was a quirky story.
