Magic, New Mexico #3

Alexandru's Kiss

Rate this book
Internationally acclaimed, New York Times and USA TODAY Bestselling author of Science Fiction, Urban Fantasy, and Paranormal Romance brings another action, adventure, and suspense-filled story to transport readers out of this world.

Far from home...

Alexandru Carson has a major problem and it isn't with the woman who captured him - it is the fact that he can't remember anything but his name. Confused by his inability to remember, he doesn't know where he is or how he ended up in the middle of a forest that feels bizarrely alien to him. If being lost wasn't bad enough, his fascination with and attraction to his captor is making the situation even more frustrating as he tries to unravel the mystery of what happened.

Ka'ya Stargazer is an outcast among her tribe. Born with the mark of the Huntress, she is feared for her ability as a warrior even while she is a prisoner to the tribe who shuns her. When she discovers an injured man on a scouting trip, she is forced to make a decision that will change her life forever.

Alexandru's kiss leaves Ka'ya craving for more than her life as a warrior. Yet, even as they grow closer, there are powerful forces threatening to rip them apart.

Will Alexandru accept Ka'ya's claim on him, or will she lose him forever when he regains his memory and discovers he does not belong in her world?

Alexandru is in the process of kicking Simon Drayton's ass when he's suddenly transported to parts unknown compliments of his sister Tory. The problem is that upon landing in parts unknown he hits his head resulting in amnesia.

Ka'ya Stargaze is all but shunned by her tribe though she's the tribe's premier huntress/protector. Her role assures the ongoing safety of her family though recently it's become apparent she needs to find a way for her mother and brother to escape as the tribe's spiritual leader has plans for them.

Investigating a potential raider sighting, Ka'ya comes across Alexandru though he's unable to tell her anything about himself other than his name. No matter, likely there's a bounty on his head or someone will pay ransom once it's determined who he is which is why Ka'ya is taking the time to deal with him before she follows through on her escape plan for her family.

* * *

Readers are brought back to Magic, New Mexico (paranormal central) where mayhem has again broke out because of Tory. In this story her brother Alexandru is defending her from Simon only to get caught up in a relocation spell. He subsequently lands up in an primitive alternate universe whose inhabitants live in crude housing and battle with swords and daggers. I'd almost label it a Harry Potter type of world but without the wizards and fantasy elements.

Alexandru and Ka'ya made for an interesting couple though I didn't feel they jelled in my mind. It might be because the majority of the story followed an action/adventure format with only a minor focus on the actual romance elements. To be clear, there were adult content scenes and biting was involved (Alexandru is a vampire hybrid) but beyond that it was more a case of the author telling instead of showing for readers. It also may have been related to a lack of sexual maturity on the part of the two. Who knows. Something was just not right (for me).

Secondary characters were an instrumental part of this story's success. Topper comes to mind though many other characters were important with world building/supporting Alexandru/Ka'ya. It's just a case where there's no one as unique and loveable (in her own way) as Topper and I'd be remiss not to point that out.

Overall, this is the type of story fans of fantasy based/urban fantasy will enjoy. It's entertaining and provides an adult level of snark and humor balanced with action that keeps this author on my auto buy list. This one just happens to fall more in the fairy tale rhelm of the spectrum.

Remember Tory, who was a bit spoiled and wanted freedom? Well, this book is all about what happens to her brother when she lets loose. Ka'ya is the main female lead in this book and she can definitely hold her own. Alexandru's Kiss definitely needs to be read after book two as it picks up from the last scene in the previous book. The balance of "power" between Ka'ya and Alexandru was enjoyable

This was a little different. I liked it. It's a paranormal story like Tory's is but the setting feels old, not quite medieval. I'm not sure exactly where Tory sent Alexandru other than another world, "far, far away".
Ka'ya is special, a Huntress that protects her village as she watches out for her family. She is strong, brave and intelligent. She is more than meets the eye.
Alexandru is an Alpha male that, even while being worried for Ka'ya, is able to let her do what she needs to do without even arguing about it.

Simply brilliant

As always I totally love S E Smiths books, they are funny, warm, thoughtful and exciting. It is always sad to come to the end of the book. But I'm happy to know another is on its way

Wonderful

Been sent to another world by your own sister, even if it was an accident.
Is bad enough, but to have forgotten everything except your name, wow.
That when this exciting adventure begins. Fabulous read.👍

Awesome Story

Alexandru over stepped his boundaries and now he is in a spot of trouble. But he is not the only one in trouble. They are going to need some help to get out of this mess. Great story, I really enjoyed it.

Very entertaining

I enjoyed it. Fun light reading. Surprisingly meeting your destiny and not knowing your past. But everything works out for everyone in the end.

So, when Alexandru and Simon were fighting in Taking on Tory she proceeds to cast a “far, far away” spell and sends Alexandru into another realm, or planet since it has 3 moons, where Ka’ya takes him prisoner. In the meantime Ka’ya is working on getting her mother and little brother out of their village, so they’ll be safe from their spiritual leader, Jorge, whose bat-shit crazy.

Alexandru has temporary amnesia so as he and Ka’ya trek through the woods he remembers a little at a time. So, that was good.

What I didn’t like was the fact that they were NOT in Magic, New Mexico. Yeah, yeah, there was a bit of magic going on but I read these books to be a part of the magical town they live in. So, that was a disappointment. However, I did just love Alexandru, since he was a vampire, a werewolf, a warlock and a shifter. That makes for an awesome character. As does Topper. Jeez, I love her!

There were 2 rather long and drawn out explicit sex scenes in such a small story so that wasn’t necessary, one would have been enough. Especially when the author talked about pre-cum. That made me skip the sex scenes after that. There’s nothing romantic about that kind of description. And there’s definitely NOTHING romantic about the word “vagina.” That’s what you say to your doctor when you tell him where it itches. LOL

Overall, I liked it but I would have liked it more if it had taken place in Magic, New Mexico. Just sayin’

Excellent!

I found this book to be excellent as it had good vs bad, fight scenes, family (hers & his), some romance & of course an out of this world travel plan.

Alexandru was sent to a place "far, far away" by his sister Tory when he was fighting her mate & boy did she send him away. He landed on a planet or dimension with 3 moons & Little if no magic at all.

Ka'ya is known as The Huntress in her village & even though she protects the village (mostly because of her mother & brother) they shun her.

Ka'ya finds Alexandru a little while after he landed on her planet/dimension & after he hit his head & lost his memory. She decided to keep him & possibility sell him or get ransom for him; not knowing at the time that her usage of the money would be for nothing as her mother & brother wouldn't be able to leave the village.

By, now if you've read my reviews you should know that I'm stopping her because you will need to read the book to find out what happens in this book. But, it was excellent & I can't wait for the next book in this series.

An amazing story about Alexandru Adventure in Far Far Away.

Alexandru is a resident of Magic, New Mexico. He is also an Antiquities dealer, half vampire, and half Warlock. While in far far away he is injured and meets Ka"ya, a Huntress.

Alexandru is recovering from memory loss and is the Huntress" prisoner. He earns her trust as they travel through the forest to the nearest town. She's trying to earn enough money to save her mother and brother Dru from Jorge, an evil spiritual leader of her Village. Will they be able to save her mother and brother?

All the characters are unique to the story, but they add characters from previous books in the series. The plot is old one with they're rescuing family from evil but still fresh in the way story is written by the author. I love how the story unfolds, the characters learn to trust one another, and the drama of the battle scenes scenes. It is an exciting book and I could hardly put it down except to sleep!

I highly recommend this book to anybody interested in magic and fast paced plot.

An enjoyable read.
At the end of book 2, Simon and Alexandru are fighting, thus causing Tory to cast a spell on her brother. When Tory said far, far, away, boy did she mean it.
Alexandru comes to in a different world with no memory apart from his name. Being saved by the Huntress Ka’ya will definitely change his life.
Ka’ya is a strong heroine and fully capable of taking care of Alexandru whilst his memory is sketchy.
Alexandru is a strong enough hero to allow Ka’ya to take care of him but is able to take care of her too when needed.
Enjoyed how these two meshed and worked together.
Great story with fun action and an enjoyable plot. Interesting to bringing in WW2 interaction and run it around to Jorge.
Pity Lacey and Frost from book 1 did not join in the fun but great to have everyone else turn up.
But the Fates are having the last laugh as usual.

I felt so bad for Ka'ya.
She carries the mark of the huntress.
Her village needs her, but also shuns her.
She is always on the outside looking in.
The only thing holding her there is her mother + brother.
Soon enough, she will be able to break them free + live a better life.
Alexandru does not know who he is or where he is.
Is it a bad thing or a good thing when Ka'ya finds him?
Ka'ya does not have time for this.
She needs to rescue her mother + brother.
Their adventure only brings them closer together.
Once Alexandru regains his memory, will he leave ka'ya ?
This was another great addition to the "Magic, New Mexico" series.
I can't wait for the next book

Alexandru's Kiss

After Alexandru's sister cast a spell on him. He has no idea where he is or who he is. Ka'ya is a huntress. When she saves Alexandru's life she figures to ransom or sell him but as she is drawn to him on the trip things change. Alexandru slowly starts to remember but it really doesn't matter he is to attracted to Ka'ya.
Enjoyed the second book in the series. Can be read as a standalone.

When his sister does the far away spell he ends up really far away. He meets his mate and boom the fates strikes again. I liked the female, she's this awesome archer and bad ass woman. Had their amusing moments, saw Topper and fates at work.
