Sometimes love demands a second chance, but it will never be bought, no matter the amount.

Michael Carrington promised himself after losing his wife that he was done with love. No more investing in anything he wasn't capable of walking away from. Sex and high-dollar business deals had become the center of his world. Throw in a touch of danger, and he had all he needed outside of a new assistant.

Rainey Foster had finally graduated college, and as a struggling single mom, she just needed someone to give her a chance. She was willing to go all in with the right employer, as long as the buck stopped there. He could have her time, her commitment and her attention, but no one will ever have her heart again. She thought she had things figured out until she comes face to face with the illustrious Michael Carrington.

Powerful. Confident. Sexy as Hell.

Lust might ignite the flame between them, but love will have its way.

So this one was ok. I liked Rainey's character and her ability to adapt and go for what she wants. Michael was at times a little annoying. He has lots of skeletons hidden. Also there has to be something up with Killian calling Rainey constantly. Her mother is such an overbearing parent but shes really smart and gives good advice. You can tell she loves her daughter. Overall not a horrible book, not a good one either. Just kinda ehhhhh to me.

This story ended at 48% but it was still too long. I didn't enjoy reading it, the story wasn't that believable and I didn't care for the characters, especially Rainey. It was too drawn out and could easily have been cut in half. I wouldn't recommend it.

Michael is a high-powered real estate broker in NYC. Rainey needs a job and lands one as Michael's assistant. They are attracted to one another but are reluctant to cross that line. Both have secrets - Michael has some involvement with the mob, and Rainey is hiding that she is a single parent. That's it. End of book.

One of the things that frustrates me the most, is when an author ends a book in what I feel is a strange place. The ending of this book falls in that category. I can't call it a cliffhanger, it is more like someone just hit pause in the middle of a scene. Yes, that scene had some action in it, but it didn't seem all that pivotal a place for me. It was more like the author wrote a 500 page book and decided to break it up into three around this page count. Bad choice. The plot so far is "Meh", and the characters are developed enough to make me care. It just felt random to me, and it makes me not want to buy the remaining books.

When it comes to books from Ali Parker I have great expectations. This one does not disappoint! It is an amazing story that has heart and feels real. It is the story about Michael, a business man who has lost his wife and now have closed his heart and do not want to have feelings and get heard again. The female characters is Rainey who is a single mom that have not had the best experience with relationships. She has also made her mind up on being single and not having anything to do with relationships. Rainey is a college graduate and she is now seeking for employment. She gets a job interview at Michaels firm.
This story is hot, steamy, sexy and very enjoyable. I liked it a lot. The chemistry between Michael and Rainey is undeniable and the suit each other very well. They need to come out of their shell and they need the help from the other part. They have to open their heart and eyes to take the chance.
The characters feels real and they develop through the story. There are some twists and turns that only gives the story an edge and keeps you reading until the last page. I like that Ali Parker has taken som real life issues and included them in this steamy hot story. You have drama, passion, chemistry, mafia, ex issues and a lot of emotional ups and downs in this book.
I can only recommend it to others. A must read!

It seems like authors go in spurts, first stepbrothers, then mountain men, single dads, and now widowers that are still in love with their deceased wives. I'm not sure I like the trend, but here we go with another widower hung up on his dead wife. Michael, in this case isn't looking for love, just someone to handle his late wives charity. Enter Rainy, single mom keeping her own secrets. He has them, too. The book is well written, though really unnecessarily long, which got to be tiresome. An OK read, if you like l-o-n-g b-o-o-k-s.

I was so confused reading this. There really wasn't anything to the story... It took too long for stuff to start happening. And then when it did start happening it was because there was this random thrown in there? It was just so weird and I couldn't get into it enough. But then the end happened and now I'm kinda curious as to what happens with Michael and Rainey. So maybe I'll continue on? Idfk. But obviously, I didn't care enough about this story to write a real review. So who tf knows what'll happen.

4 Amazing Stars

I thought this book was amazing the chemistry between Michael and Rainey was really well done. The secrets that both held were cry worthy and joys of happiness at the same time.

I really don't have much to say about this read because the read was that good but didn't have that POP but hey some don't but this one had a lot of tears so be sure and have your tissues on hand.

Happy Sexy Reading

Este libro está plagado de clichés y de tensión sexual. Espero que los secretos que tanto Michael como Rainy tiene no afecten a la concreción de la relación, aunque el final de este libro no es un buen augurio

OM F'ing G!!!!!! What the hell is happening with books these days!?!?!?!?!!?!?!??!?!!?!!

1. It's yet another f'ing serial... So yes, it's a useless cliffhanger after endless and useless prattle to drag it out into yet another useless book! Can you tell I don't like serials much or am I being too subtle?

2. These characters are awful! The H is all about sex, sex, sex, (opens with him screwing some random piece while thinking about two others, and then just continues the same way) until he finally stops talking and thinking about fucking everything in sight, and then he really doesn't have too much of an issue involving the h in his mob issues. Granted, he's only using her for an alibi, but he himself is freaking the fuck out about it, but he's fine to drag her along on a moments notice on a lie to give him company for when a deed is done. Not to mention he actually dragged her to the lunch with the guy earlier in the piece when he already knew the guy was going to die! WTF! Any kind of 'H' (cause let's face it, she's not trying to write him as an anti-H here) would be certain to keep their h as far from it all as possible, and if it had to, the story would somehow drag them into it against the H's best efforts.
The h is just eh too. She's supposed to come across as strong I think, but I get a little unstable. She screeches at him her first day, and that's after she lies and harasses the receptionist earlier to try and manipulate an interview in the first place. And let's not forget that she's several weeks in and she still hasn't bothered to mention she has a kid at home... Even when he says get on the plane now, we are leaving for the weekend! And they almost sleep together too, and she still says nothing. Then she gets all screechy about the dead guy again while they are in a public place on the way to a meeting instead of having a conversation at an appropriate time and place... Then she sees the chicky from the pictures at the weekend lodge and jumps to conclusions and runs off in a huff cause he's been lying to her... Did anyone forget about a kid???? Anyway, to cut it short, I'm not sure I've ever had two main characters that I have disliked SO MUCH without them actually doing something to really deserve it... Like be a wife beater or a kitten killer! And my god, they are both... make that all, everyone in it are SO plastic! Every word and action.

3. Several times there's a point made surrounding his age. His ex left him because she wanted a younger man. He was good looking for an older man. HES FUCKING 36 YEARS OLD!!! Who writing this book? A fucking 17 year old who thinks 25 is Jurassic? Jesus

4. Well, fuck it, yes, there's more I could bitch about in this 'book', but it's stolen enough of my time.

Ok

To start I didn't like the book starting off with the H sleeping with OW. This is just my preference. I am not a fan of scenes of H/h with om/ow, especially when it has no bearing on the story.
After that the story was enjoyable. I found that the story did drag in parts. The sex scenes were hot and steamy. I am a fan of Ali Parker but this book wasn't my favourite of hers. I do look forward to her future works!

Not sure

So Raine gets a job working for a property Mogul only he is very complicated and secretive.
Michael and his brother have ties to some unsavory types which he tries to keep out of his business but its not easy, he takes on a new assistant who is holding secrets of her own.
Characters and dialogue were OK and storyline was OK but I really had a problem with Raine.
apart from Michael her character was a mum and had some substance but when the author put Raine and Michael together Raine became annoying and really silly.
Second day in the job and she's having a go at her boss because she was on her own then tries having a go about the blonde from the club, at that point she lost all credibility as a character as you just wouldn't do that.
When they work away her attitude is petulant and I just wasn't liking her character. When they were separate they were good.
I think the author is good but Raine's pondering in the final chapters was just circumspect and given the fact she had only worked for him for two weeks she made some pretty big leaps accusing him of this and that with no actual basis when all she saw was him on the phone going in and out of shops when he said he was meeting a client. Raine turned into Nancy drew.
I think what was missing was suspense Raine shouldn't make those leaps with no foundations to support them. Its very hard to review a book without giving away spoilers, it needed patience and some development.
I think keeping Raine in the dark and building up to it would have been a better angle than the direction it took.
Its a promising thriller romance. I can only hope it doesn't become predictable and Raine's character reigns in her claims.

A cat and mouse game between an billionaire, Michael, and his new assistant Rainey. When they first meet the sparks are there but she is his new employee and he is her boss until a trip for the weekend has them getting closer but Rainey keeps fighting the attraction wanting to stay professional. She is also hiding her son from him, he doesn't know she has one and with his ties to the mob she doesn't want any harm to come to her son so she keeps quiet. Until he finds out the truth and then it all comes out, the secrets, omissions and lies. But Michael isn't done yet, he doesn't want to lose her and wants to keep her in his life in anyway possible. Will she let him?
When I first started the read I liked Rainey but as the story progressed she was a contradiction, she wants him, then doesn't, then does, then doesn't etc and then accuses him of giving her mixed signals and confusing her...she was the one giving me whiplash. Michael was the reason I kept reading the story, he knew what he wanted and kept going after her, not giving up, giving her time, and even though he may have tried to make her jealous with his friend, he didn't play as many games as she had with him. Michael was patient and even put up with her when she was playing her games, acting immature and like she didn't care, teasing him to get to him. He was definitely the mature one, the reason I kept reading and she finally redeemed herself in the end in my eyes, when it's usually the man redeeming himself. I loved Micheal and I'm happy he got his HEA as he deserved it.

Money can't buy love, but love can cost you everything.

Michael, a powerful billionaire has met his match in Rainey, a strong, stubborn and smart single mom.

Since his wife passed away from cancer, Michael has buried himself in work and meaningless one-night stands. He's now starting to feel like he needs a hand to keep work under control, but still has no plans to change his life to include love or a relationship.

Rainey is a feisty, intelligent and persistent young woman, willing to work her butt off to provide for her son. She fights to get an interview to be Michael's assistant and is shocked when she's offered the position.

Rainey soon starts to hear rumours about her boss' extra curricular dealings and she starts to worry that she might be putting her family in danger. Michael assures her that her concerns are unfounded, but doesn't actually deny involvement in nefarious dealings.

They are both keeping secrets from each other. Huge secrets. And when their sexual tension sizzles over the line into a much less professional zone, neither of them are sure what to do. Rainey needs to keep this job; Michael can't afford to have his heart destroyed again, but the chemistry and attraction they share is so powerful, it makes them both reconsider their vows to remain alone.

None of this may matter though, when their secrets are revealed. Some betrayals are just too big to overcome.

Excellent billionaire romance with a tough single mom, some mystery, some mafia, lots of steam, a few huge secrets and a big happy ending.

This was a great storyline , full of characters with everyday people's life routines that felt real , but were thrown into Dramatic suspense, Steamy Sex and Intense ,Pulse Pounding situations.
I was hoping that Rainey's Ex would show up and stake a claim on Rainey and their son or that the issues with the mafia would take on a bit more of a dangerous tone, but after reading the book in it's entirety .( I'm glad it was a full novel and not made into a serial...I couldn't have waited to see what happened next) .
I loved that the story was a slow building emotional HEA romance between Michael a widowed Business man with mob ties that doesn't want to find love again and Rainey ( Love that name ) a single mom , with a lurking good for nothing ex. She just wants to make her and her sons life better .
He needs an Assistant and she needs a better paying Job ........they end up having great chemistry , but just when love invades both their hearts , Secrets and lies threaten to tear these two apart .
I'm glad this couple survived, but it was a thrill to read the story and go through all the different emotions with them on their journey to Happiness .

Rainey is a single mom just out of college looking for a job to support her family. She goes to an office about an assistant position but she didn't have an appointment however while she's trying to assert her way into one Michael Carrington the boss over hears. Michael is interested in Rainey just not for the assistant job. However he allows her to set up an interview so he could learn more about her. The day turns into a train wreck kind of day for Rainey because she runs some errands while waiting for the time for the interview and ends up with a ruined blouse and being late for the actual interview. Michael ends up hiring her but knows nothing about her son and thinks she'll be able to work whatever hours he needs. Rainey thankfully has a great family to pitch in when she needs them and is able to handle everything Michael ask as of her. What she never counted on was falling for him. Then more she around hum the more she wants him however she hears somethings that make her question whether they should be anything to one and another.

This was a great story. The chemistry between the characters is hot. The story flowed really well and I couldn't put it down until I was done. I would recommend this to any book lover.

Michael Carrington wasn’t looking for love, after losing his wife to cancer, he became more involved in his work and running his charity events then looking for the next woman to come into his life but when he began interviews for a new assistant, he wasn’t expecting the beautiful woman to walk into his world. Rainey Foster was looking for a job ever since she graduated college, and even though she didn’t have an appointment she wouldn’t take no for an answer, especially from a rude receptionist at the offices of Michael Carrington. When her almost-future-boss overhears Rainey, he steps forward and offers to give her an interview during his lunch break. They are almost immediately drawn to each other, but since Rainey really needs this job, she pushes his advances aside, telling herself that they can only have a working relationship.. but when the sparks between them begin to ignite, will Rainey be able to keep her feelings from turning to something more? Or will Michael be able to break down the walls around her heart and make her see that they belong together?

Wow! There is a lot of book between these covers. It's not a very long time span, but these characters go through so much. At times, the push-me/pull-you dynamic between Rainey and Michael almost drove me batty. As a successful businessman, Michael is prepared to grab for what he wants when he recognizes a good thing. And what he sees in Rainey is one of the best things to come into his life in a long time. Being a single mother, burned by a bad divorce, Rainey is a lot more cautious and a lot less trusting of her heart and instincts. I loved watching these two dance around their attraction to one another, even if it was crazy-making at times. It was inspiring to witness Rainey finding the freedom to be herself, in the boardroom, in the bedroom, just generally in her own skin. And the sparks these two light off each other? I'm feeling a bit singed from standing so close. Seeing Michael recognize that he could have a special connection with a another woman similar to what he had shared with his late wife made some of the sweetest moments in the book. Michael's epilogue chapter was probably the sweetest of them all.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book and have opted to provide this honest review.

I've read several of author Ali Parker's books and I can tell that the style is changing, maturing perhaps, but definitely moving in a different direction.

The story of Rainey and Michael coming together was riddled with secrets and misunderstandings, as all good romance books tend to be. I was thankful that one of the earlier miscommunications was cleared up quickly. It's simply infuriating to me when they don't just confront the other person. I'm practically throwing things around trying to get the characters to behave when this happens. LOL

There was lots of chemistry between the pair and the story was well laid out. I gave it 4 stars, instead of 5, because I felt like it dragged on a bit. It wasn't bad, I just felt like things could have been wrapped up sooner. Then what I thought would be a bigger deal (can you say "wise guys"?) turned out quite different than I expected. A plot twist, but not necessarily a good one.

I enjoyed the book very much.

Finished in 3-4 hours.

Michael is a businessman who lost his wife to cancer and he has ties to the mob. He thinks he wants to try another relationship but right now he just uses woman for sex. Rainey is a divorced mom with a 6-year-old boy. She is hired to be Michael’s new assistant. She also thinks she needs to keep her son a secret from Michael; why is that? Rainey is a bit over the top when it comes to being an over-protective mother to Tanner. But I guess she has her reasons.
The chemistry between Michael and Rainey have with one another is off the charts. They want to start some kind of relationship, but everything between them is interesting. This relationship has lies, misunderstandings, complications and of course hot steamy scenes with the two. They would be so good together. Can or will they work through all the challenges they have between them and make this an amazing relationship? To find out one-click this book! It is highly recommended and it is very hard to put down once you start reading it. It will send you on a ride with your emotions and just wanting to know what happens next!

Awesome book full of emotions! Michael was a self made billionaire with a real estate empire to run. He had ties with the syndicate through a family friend. Rainey was an out of work, divorced, single mother. Rainey applied at Michael’s business and he hired her with some misgivings. The story really begins here.
The story is full of memories, demons, deceit, jealousy, heart ache, lies, suspense, twist, sexy scenes, lust, romance, and love.
Ali’s talent as a writer really shines in this book. Her characters are cohesive with the plot. You feel like you are living their lives and it is a roller coaster of emotions. Will Michael over come Rainey’s doubts about his involvement with the syndicate? Can Rainey learn to trust again? Can they both withstand the outside forces working against them and their own demons? Will they both get their happy every after?
Grab a book and find a comfortable chair and begin this fabulous journey. I was glued to my book until I finished this story. I received an ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.

This story has it all. There is romance, intrigued, lies, misconceptions, murder, second chances, the mob and sex.
Rainey is a single mom trying to make it on her own and support her son. She has the help of her parents.
Michael is a billionaire whose wife died to young and he is floating from woman to woman. he did think he had found someone but she dumped him for a younger man.
When Michael sees Rainey he can't get her out of his head. She is not impressed by him or his wealth. And doesn't want free hand outs form him.
She wants a job and she may want him too.
These two get together and it is hot but even when they are apart you know they are connected.
Ali wrote two very strong main characters. Michael is learning that when you want something he have to work for it.
Rainey is learning that not all men are like her ex and sometimes its OK to do something for yourself. take the leap.
I was given this book for an honest voluntary review. I would highly recommend this book it is not your usual billionaire love story.

This is a romance on how second chances come so g when you don't expect them too. This is the story of Michael who is a billionaire with shades mob connections and Rainey who becomes his new Personal Assistant, Over the course of the short amount of time that Michael and Rainey are together the chemistry between them is of The charts but she's a single mother that has to take he son in to account. When a last minute trip the and then suspicious things going on Rainey feels she has to protect herself and her family from what ever Michael is involved in.
Can Michael get Rainey to understand his life is not all hat complicated and that he would do anything to keep her safe, but before they can make here discussion on here feels for each other they have to come clean of all the secrets they are keeping from each other. Once that happens can Michael and Rainey have the love and happiness they deserve with each other. Thoroughly recommend this book.

If a short novel is a novella, then this one is a super-novel as it's easily three to four times as long as a typical novella. Be assured not a single word is wasted - this is an epic love story, a tale of two lives that are completely transformed by being fused together. Michael is a complete alpha-hole on the outside, but sweet and gooey and - dare I say - a little bit traditional on the inside. Rainey knows she needs better than her cheating ex-husband, but it takes her guarded heart a very long time to realize that Michael could be that person for her. This story takes you on quite an adventure and it's worth every sleep-avoiding minute. It is well-written, has intriguing characters and a fast-moving plot, and enough chemistry between the H/h to really heat up your Kindle! Don't start this book until you can devote the time, because I guarantee you won't be able to put it down! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I loved, loved, loved this book! I have really enjoyed reading every book that Ali Parker has written that I have read, but this one is one of my favorites. She did such a great job developing the characters, that I feel like I really know them, and not just the major two characters, but the minor ones too. Also, it caused me to lose quite a bit of sleep while I was reading it, because it was so hard to put down at night. Two nights, I got back up to read after lying down, because I could not get it out of my mind. Rainey is my kind of heroine. She is very family oriented, and is very feisty. She seemed to put Michael in his place from the beginning, which he needed. The chemistry between them was strong, hot, and sweet, all at the same time. Then, there is Tanner, Rainey's son. He is the sweetest little boy, and just added that little something extra to the book, which made it even better. I voluntarily reviewed this advance copy, and this is a must read.

Determined to find a good paying job and put her hard earned degree to good use she finds herself in Michael's office. From the moment Michael and Rainey meet there's a connection. Can they both overcome their pasts and find love again?
This is my first introduction to Ali Parker's work. I must say I really enjoyed Money Can't Buy Love. When I started reading this story I had expected it to be one way and was pleasantly surprised by how it turned out. It was the perfect combination of heartfelt love story and suspense. I can't wait to read more of Mrs. Parker's books.
