Bovendien aarzelt hij soms niet om te deserteren om daardoor zijn opdracht beter te kunnen vervullen. De delen vier, vijf en zes (De lange weg naar Cochise, Oorlog en vrede, De man met de zilveren ster) van Blueberry gebundeld in een integrale samen met zeldzame, of nooit eerder gepubliceerde documenten.

El segundo integral de Blueberry me ha parecido igual de maravilloso que el primero. En las dos primeras historias se cierra el ciclo de Fort Navajo, que empezó en el primer volumen, y en la tercera tenemos una historia autoconclusiva que recuerda más al spaghetti western que las anteriores, que beben directamente del cine estadounidense del Oeste. El dibujo cada vez es mejor, el argumento no tiene ningún agujero, no puedes dejar de leer: es perfecto. El personaje de McClure empieza a tener un mayor protagonismo y a estar presente en casi todas las páginas. Este mete en líos a Blueberry por su adición al alcohol. Le aporta un punto humorístico a la historia que le sienta genial. Este cómic es fantástico.

This is where Jean Giraud ( he's more known in the US as Moebius for his Incal art, Blueberry was however some of his first professional art) starts to pass his master Jige.
There are glimpses of the fabulous art he will draw in the future, the cover art of the last book ( which is the cover of this omnibus) is especially very good.
As for the story itself, the first 2 parts end the first indian cycle and then we have a standalone story which is very reminiscent of John Ford's movies Rio Bravo and Rio Lobo.
This is special when you consider these books were written and drawn in the 60s and are still very relevant today. Especially when you compare how bad comics drawn in the 80s look like today ( I read recently some of Chris Claremont end of 80s X-Men and the art and the coloring look just plain terrible)...
I highly recommend this, but you have to be aware that this edition can not be found in the US, this is an import, you can however find the individual titles translated.

Der zweite Band der Gesamtausgabe setzt das hohe Niveau des Vorgängers und den Zyklus um den ausbrechenden Apachenkrieg ("Fort Navajo") mit zwei weiteren Alben fort, danach folgt ein allein stehenden Album ("Der Sheriff") um eine Verbrecherbande in einer Kleinstadt in Arizona. Dieses reicht nicht an die Komplexität der Erzählung des Zyklus' zuvor heran, ist aber trotzdem amüsant zu lesen. Das Finale des Zyklus' ist hingegen wirklich dicht und spannend erzählt.
Die Zeichnungen bleiben auf dem hohen Niveau des Vorgängers, sie werden für mein Gefühl noch durchgehender detaillierter und interessanter.
Die Ausstattung und Aufmachung der Gesamtausgabe ist wunderbar. Ich freue mich auf den dritten Band!

Toisen kokoelman myötä Blueberry alkaa pääsemään oikeuksiinsa. Nyt taide on jo hyvin vaikuttavaa, ja tarinoissa moniulotteisia näkökulmia myyttisen villin lännen elämään. Erityisen mieleenpainuva on taistelu kaivoksessa albumissa Navajojen jäljillä, sekä Meksikoon paenneet Etelävaltioiden sotilaskarkurit. Ainoa mikä hieman häiritsee on kuinka mukana on vielä liikaa viime hetken pelastuksia erinäisten ratsuväkien ja muiden toimesta.

Brillante conclusión al primer ciclo de las guerras indias (con "El jinete perdido" y "La pista de los navajos") y un número one-shot, interesante y repleto de detalles ("El hombre de la estrella de plata"). Un placer para los amantes del noveno arte y del far west.

Es una mejora interesante con respecto al primer integral, se puede apreciar la evolución en el dibujo de Giraud a medida que avanzan las páginas y la historia es un poco mas compleja. Se introducen nuevos personajes y tenemos un desenlace de la trama presentada en el primer libro maso menos digno.

Se cierra la trama de la guerra con los navajos. Impresionante arco. La otra historia es más de complemento, pero muy divertida también.

Ihan mielikseenhän tätä lukee. Tarinalle on eduksi, että koko tarinaa ei yritetä sulloa yhteen 48 sivuiseen albumiin, vaan tarinan kaaret ovat useamman albumin pituisia. On tilaa taiteelle, komealle maisemakuvaukselle ja paremmalle tarinan kehittelylle.

Currently available on the Internet Archive, this is the second omnibus of an iconic series, collecting the episodes Le Cavalier Perdu, La Piste des Navajos, and L’Homme à l’Étoile d’Argent. The first two continue and conclude the story arc of the first three episodes in the previous omnibus, whilst the third is a stand-alone, a palate cleanser before the next multi-volume story arc.
These three episodes mark the transition of Jean Giraud as an artist emerging from under the wing of the great master Jijé and discovering his own style as Gir, with increasing premonitions of the Moebius style to come. This shows mostly in the comic character of Jim McClure, introduced in Le Cavalier Perdu. This first sidekick, developed from a mere secondary character, shows all the Moebius traits from early on.
The same episode introduces the perennial villains, Finlay and Kimball the Jay-hawkers, who bring a much greater dramatic depth than the almost caricatural cavalry vs. red indians storylines of the opening episodes. Here we dive into the trauma of the civil war, and a knife edge of gallant alliances and dastardly betrayals. The storylines mature into true classics when these tragic and yet romantic characters are present. The rivalries between Americans and Mexicans also add deep layers to the drama. There’s power in these moments.
I’m glad to have read these episodes, but as they are not yet the best story arc, I’ll score this omnibus three stars for the moment.
